WR with separation

So 2-58 should be the area where Williams gets picked.

At 190 Williams has about 25 lbs on Dell. You must not be that high on Noel either? He's about the same size as Williams?
I’m higher on Williams than Noel. Think he might be able to handle outside work but not sold he could do it full time. He’s the most Dell-like player in the draft and bigger… but I’m not calling him Tank. Tank is a unicorn and Williams will have to win despite physical limitations just like Tank. Only difference is maybe his knee doesn’t blow up if someone hits it like Tank’s.

I like Noel just think he’s slot only and don’t think he’d make it on the field with Kirk around. Want someone who will be playing year 1 regardless of injury if spending a 1st or 2nd.

I’d expect both to go around the range Tank was drafted. Which lines up with 2.58.

If you worry about picking Williams at 5'10, 190 lbs at 2-58. You must really not want Caserio picking Golden at 1-25 considering his size is 5-11 191 lbs.

I want a guy that can run by people, and creat big play opportunities. This team needs speed and some big play juice.

Bech is a nice player. I’m not going to ***** and moan if he’s the guy, but I’d easily take Kyle Williams over Bech if that’s the choices.

My top two guys are Golden and Williams. Love them both. Bond is a mild consideration, but I like the aforementioned guys over Bond.

I also think K Williams is going to go higher then most think. 25? Probably not that high, but top half of the second round? Ya I totally buy it. If he falls to 58, I would strongly consider adding him to this team. I think he goes before Bech, and if the Texans like him, and Golden was passed on in the first…they may need to trade up to ensure they get him.

I think there is a decent chance he lands here. I mean there are 32 teams, so likely? No not going there. But I’d bet they are highly interested. He or Golden Nick! Make it happen!

So.. you will select Kyle Williams a round early but not Grant?

Agreed, but Bech reminds me so much of Nucua. Plus the fact that he lead LSU his freshman year in receiving with BTJ, Nabers, Boutte on the team carries a lot of weight with me. I love Williams too though.

Very fair assessment. I like Bech…but he’s not a separator or speed merchant. Seems very reliable and a safe pick. I wouldn’t throw anything at the TV, but I want a guy that can stretch the field and blow some doors off on the way.

I like Golden, Williams, Burden, Higgins etc .. but they would've been WR's 7-10 or so in last year's wr class. No need to reach for a wr in rd 1. Especially since there will probably be a comparable wr there at 2-58.
Ok but if these wide receivers are behind 2023 wide receivers, we are going to take an even worse wide receiver at 58?

Just because they would be WR's 6-10 in last yrs class doesn't mean they cant play. Last yrs class was a historic level class. There will probably be a WR worthy of 2-58. I've got Williams/Bech/Royals/Harris as worthy of 2-58. I like Ayomanor but his injury history makes him a 3-89 guy IMHO.

I've got Grant in the 4th and I could be very wrong on both sides of the spectrum.

If a team really likes him, I could possibly see 3rd round. I wouldn't but some team might. I could buy 4th and I'm starting to get interested there. But for me...I'd be interested in him with a 5th round selection. He's got some real upside and it's worth it there. A team will need to be patient. For me... WAY to risky in the second round. Like WAY WAY too risky. I wouldn't even touch him in the 3rd and I hope the Texans pass on him in that round too. I'm ok anywhere on day 3, and I do believe Nick will find a way to be in the 4th round this year.

Can’t see Travis getting separation. Maybe a surprise goal line target.

True….I’ve had my vote from very early that WR- Dont’e Thornton Jr (Tennessee) would be the receiver I covet to get that desired separation and take the top off defenses. That straight-up 4.30-40 and 25.4 yards per catch average leads me to believe he could do this at the next level as well.

I just think he’s a one trick pony myself. Jalin Hyatt was a better version of him and he’s done a whole lot of nothing so far in his career.

Was just about to say something very similar. If speed equated to success Carl Lewis would be in the HOF.
Drafted by the cowboys, I can't remember Lewis ever shooting up to catch a pass from anyone in the NFL so how do we know how he would have done? He knew where his money was and focused on that.

Hyatt was 6-0 @ 175 lbs and 4.40-40 doesn’t come close to Thornton Jr 6-5 @ 209 lbs and 4.30-40. Toss in Thornton’s 25.4 YPC in 2024 and I wouldn’t want to compare them either. Thornton has the better tools to succeed at the NFL level.

Hyatt was a much more productive receiver at Tennessee than Thornton has been. Like Thornton, Hyatt was considered a raw route runner coming into the NFL. In two years, that has not changed. 31 receptions in 34 games. Thornton hasn't really established himself at Knoxville. 39 catches in 22 games. Raw, rawer than Hyatt at the same point. Ask yourself how often these pure speed wideouts have hit in the NFL? That is what teams will ask themselves on draft weekend.

Haha, it's sad but true.

Announcer: "It's very strange, the Texans have let the play clock run down multiple times to make their field goal attempt 50 yards instead of 25."
Yeah, I always disagreed with this philosophy. But we do have a defense HC.

Agreed. I've got him in the 4th or 5th round. I'd be interested in that area as a specialist to start and see if he can learn from there. He's got raw tools and traits that are elite. I don't think anyone can deny that. But where's the production? I'm interested...at the right spot. Which is day 3.

Thornton has one trait that is elite. Hands? Change of direction? Run after catch? What are the other elite traits? What works against Thornton is the Tennessee offense that sends him on go and post routes. He doesn't have the skills to operate in a pro offense. It's not the college coach's responsibility to make a player pro ready. Their priority is to win games.

How is Thornton going to be active on gameday? He has no experience as a returner. Can he tackle? Block kicks? Draft this guy and he'll be inactive the first season, at a minimum. I'm just not interested. Let another team dream on Thornton.

Agreed. If picking a position have to think, “Do they stand a realistic chance of playing without injury?” If the answer is no and they are NOT. a QB then they should not be considered day 1 or 2.

Yep, this is where I'm at and I've got RB's rated much higher in the 4th than Thornton.

Good post. I just think he’s got that speed and can be at worst a gunner…amd possibly a returner. I’d definitely try him in that spot. I’m slightly higher than you are on him, but only modestly so. I’m nowhere near as high as OT is on him. For me, borderline value is 4th..fair value is 5th round, good value 6th, great value 7th. But you make very good points.
