henry was benched for some one else not sure who....they liked him on nflta maybe we can steal him in the 5th and not wry about one higher?

Lynch runs 4.52, then on his second attempt barely breaks 4.5 with a 4.49.
Not a good day for Lynch, as his big mouth sets expectations for a much
more impressive performace in his 40s.

heres some info on chris henry

http://www.footballsfuture.com/2007/prospects/chris_henry.html

Chris Henry RB 6' 233 Arizona Jr.
Henry was a seldom used reserve his first two seasons, backing up Mike Bell. He ran for 278 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman and sophomore. As a junior, he shared backfield duties, but ran for 581 yards and seven touchdowns, and also added 197 yards and a touchdown on 21 catches as a receiver.

Chris Henry has all the physical tools you could want in a running back. He has excellent size, is strong, athletic, and fast. He runs well between the tackles, and can be a workhorse. He also shows the ability to make the first defender miss, and the speed to turn the corner and break off big runs. Henry also developed into a legitimate receiving option out of the backfield this year, and showed very good hands as a receiver.

For a player with his talent level, he has never put up the numbers to back it up. Backing up Mike Bell obviously limited what he could do early in his career, but he didn’t seize the prime opportunity laid out in front of him this year to be the feature back.

Chris Henry will pop up on a lot of people’s sleeper lists. He definitely has the talent, but is somewhat of an unknown on the field because of his limited success. He is a player that could really make a name for himself once the workout portion begins. He may be a player that just could not put it together in college, but thrives at the pro level. He is a player to keep an eye on in the draft.

That's what I'm talking about. Why use first rounders, especially top 10 picks,
on big name backs like Peterson & Bush when you've got these no-name guys
like this one coming out of places like Arizona ? And he didn't beat out Mike Bell for playing time, who was undrafted last year ? Right ?
I just think using these high picks on high-profile backs is a luxuary we can't
afford, even if we wanted to indulge ourselves. We have far too many other
needs.
In the words of one of our most prominent posters who shall remain unnamed - "backs are a dime a dozen" !

Faulk and Vermeil were saying that he just isn't a track guy, but is still really fast as a running back.

That's cause he has elusive speed and quickness. Not straight ahead speed.

I don't really like him all that much...I am hoping the Texans dont pick him.

Article in todays Chronicle had him running in the 4.3 pre-combine I believe. I hope he turned things around.

The no name guy never did anything playing against defenses that might land 1 guy in the NFL. Yet the no name guy can be expected to "put it all together" in the NFL? That's a tough case to make.

I've got no problem saying "take the productive college player who doesn't test off the charts" a la DeMeco or Dumervil. But to pass on a guy like Peterson, who tests off the charts and backed it up every Saturday because some kid from Arizona looks really great in shorts... I don't buy it.

Not only that, but I don't buy the whole "backs are a dime a dozen" because a majority of the top backs were high draft picks. Sure you are going to have some outliers, but if you look at the top backs this year, most are either first or second round picks.

if we do pass on peterson, i think our next choice would be antonio pittman. he has a burst and ran 4.43 today. he has decent size as well weighing in at 207 lbs. he could probably beef up to 210lbs if he really needed to. he can run it outside and did pretty well running between the tackles. i would like to trade with GB for their 1st and 2nd and take Pittman with one of the 2nd rounders.

Ever heard of Willie Parker ?
But when I say no name, I'm talking about the guy this guy played behind in college. Mike Bell was very productive in college as I remember. And he played
in the same conference as Bush, so he saw the same competition.
The back we've got from Indiana is a real no name, but looked good when given the chance against the Browns, and I think he may have had excellent production in college ? And like Mike Bell, he was undrafted.
Peterson is impressive, and his sub 4.4 today establishes him as productive
with impressive "track speed". He is a pure "Mr.Inside/Mr.Outside". Peterson
truly might be special unlike the 3 backs who were top 5 picks back in
the 2005 Draft.
I admit he would be hard to turn down at #8, given the added bonus of positive PR the Texans desperately need and would get if they sighed him.

Why get Pittman with a 2nd rounder when we can get Chris Henry (6', 230 lbs.) who just ran a 4.33, 40 yd dash? That's faster than AP! And you might be able to get him in the 3rd, 4th, or possibly later rounds.

Yeah but you get into round three he's on the board, do you buy the numbers ? You 've filled in a couple of sore spots and here's this guy you've interveiwed and you're scouts are telling you he can play...do you pull the trigger on the potential of what the numbers are telling you is another Ronnie Brown less the production ? That's what makes this stuff so much fun. Gotta make a decidsion. I agree with you BTW. Running back propspects will be there this year every round all day long. No need to move up and waiste prospect picks. Only guy I would do that with this year is the lock at center if he makes it past the first thirty.

adrian peterson- 4.38
antonio pitman- 4.44
gary russell- 4.84
kolby smith- 4.59
jason snelling- 4.74
romance taylor- 4.52 a guy we were interviewing not baddarius walker- 4.57 had a better first 10-20 was better tan 30-40
dwayne wright- 4.68

Agreed: Reggie Bush light without the fifty million dollar price tag. Smells like a sixteth round roll the dice guy to me ? See that 4.74 guy ? That guy you give a whistle to and shake his hand . Tell him thanks for participating.

but will he produce? he hasnt done jack in college. pittman has the speed and has produced back to back 1000 yard seasons.

jason snelling is a fb prospect....thats is quick for a fb....sry shouldve said it before

Man two of my boys sucked it up today. I was expecting better from Russell and Cornish. Cornish has the film to prove he can produce, but he need a sub 4.6

i think leonard is going to be a very good player. i think someone will draft him in the 2nd, possibly late 1st and give him a brandon jacobs-type role for a bit. it all depends on if teams view him as a better big back prospect over michael bush.

I hear Ramonce Taylor is high on the Texans' list.

Russell was dang good. Not as good as Maroney then, but if he looked like he had more potential. He averaged like 7 yards a carry last year, and 18 TD's. He just blew it, hopefully he comes back on a pro day.

In other news, Taylor should be interesting.

I don't think a guy's draft stock should fall simply because of ONE bad workout. Most of these tests are just ridiculous.

the fact that he had 9 months to prepare for these "tests" and failed tremendously should say plenty about him.

What do you guys think about Jared Zabransky from Boise State in the later rounds?

He's a winner and he's not afraid to make any throw or pull it down and run for it. Plus he ran a 4.53 at the combine guys got the athleticism.

Just a name to kick around.

your point...I could go to the combine right now and run a 4.47.

Ooooh!! Draft me!!! Draft me!!!!!
