Would the Texans move Aaron Glenn to FS?

Here's some food for thought. I have to assume that any player we draft at #13 is earmarked as a starter, either right away, or at some point during the season. If the Texans should decide to go after another stud CB like Carlos Rogers, would they move Aaron Glenn to the FS position & let Coleman battle Glenn Earl for the starting SS position?

Imagine the speed & coverage skills in the secondary. It'd be like having 4 CB's on the field at the same time. Is Aaron big enough to play FS? Imagine the speed & cover skills in the secondary. It'd be like a blanket back there.

Now, before you dismiss this question as pure lunacy, just remember that very few posters believed the Texans would move Coleman to FS last year, but they did. Did I mention the resulting speed & cover skills in the secondary?

Coleman has the body of a FS and used to be a S in the past. Glenn to FS isn't going to happen.

Marcus Coleman was orignally drafted as a safety out of college, the jets just had a need at CB so he was made into a CB Glenn is way to short for FS if he is demoted from his starting role he would be a nickel back.

Depends - I believe D-Rob played safety in college before they realized it
was a waste of his speed and quickness and they moved him to the more
demanding & important CB position, but D-Rob is actually smaller than Glenn. But even though he's a little guy, D-Rob hits like a Kenworth diesel. He is definitely not your girlie-man/Neon-Deon type CB. But Glenn still has a year
or two of CB mileage on the treads.

D-Rob is an inch taller than Glenn, not that it makes a huge difference...I just don't think he has a FS body type, and like ThirdEye said, he doesn't want to play FS...

I'm gonna dismiss this as some kinda April Fools joke Aaron Glenn is a NFL poster child for the CB positon, his cover skills are well known even as he enters the last couple of years in the league he does a good job covering WR's with the best of them.

If the Texans do draft another CB, which they will (I'm in strong favor of Fabian Washington in the 2nd) Glenn will then proceed to school the youngster as his eventual replacement, if the rookie excells and picks up the 3-4 system and NFL cover techniques, look for Glenn to move into the nickle spot, read the QB and feast on his reads. you can't have too many good CB's in the NFL, but as far as free safety after Coleman you have several much better options already in the system that bring a more physical presence. for instance I cannot wait to see Jammal Lord 6'-2" 222 get his shot, this guy is so athletic, dynamic & could be a huge playmaker for the defense. Add to him newly aquired CB Lewis Sanders who has the size your looking for 6'-1" 210, and cover skills.

Why does a first rounder have to start as a rookie?

Either this year or next, the Texans are going to finally have the depth to be able to work in a first rounder instead of throwing him into the fire. If the Texans draft a WR, LT, RB or an ILB with the first pick then that person will probably be a starter right away. But if a D-lineman or corner is taken, that player will be able to adjust to the NFL while seeing part-time action.
