Would New England want to trade up????

I am looking at them and thinking our 15th (1050 points) for their 34th, 58th, and 89th (1025 points). I would do this in this draft. I just don't know why New England would do it? What needs would they have that would warrant such a move.

I think they need an ILB, OLB, CB, OT.... They seem old on defense period. But would REY REY from USC be worth that kind of deal, when Laurinaitis should be there for them at #23.

Thoughts...my view is the 15th guy in the draft and the 34th guy is really the same guy!!!!! Unless Orakpo, Raji, Monroe, Jason Smith, etc fall to us then....pick em.

4b) Henry Melton DE - Higher than I would like, but don't laugh if he is gone by this pick.
5-7 ???

This gives us Three starters in Wood, Moore, and Canfield. (IMHO)
A situational starter or rotational starter in Jennings.
Depth with the hope of starting in season 2 with Freeman.
A guy, in Melton, who could rush the passer on third down and could be better on the pro level than Orakpo ( who I really like).
And a big CB who can run like the wind...small school player who could play big time someday and help on special teams now.
 
The only thing is this.....

If a team like New England sees a player they think is worth trading up for.... how can we pass on said player.

I mean if it's Philly, or Miami, or another bubble team, then it's not a big deal. But if it's a team like New England, or the Colts, who have a solid history of evaluating & drafting players...... then I'd like to think twice, before we hand them whatever.
 
Pats don't need to move up.

They can easily fill their needs with the picks they have.

Don't try to force it just because it looks good on the trade value chart. Our best chance was with Philly is Oher fell to us but that is gone now because of the Peters trade. Sanchez falling to us is likely our only chance of a trade back.

If the Pats come calling to us then that means there is real talent available. The only possible way I see NE wanting the #15 is if Orakpo somehow falls to us.

Except they may be moving up for a position/player that doesn't suit us. Fine they are great talent evaluators but if the talent doesn't fit it is irrelevant.
 
No reason why the player in question would even fit on this team.

NE has always been in a good position on draft day to stand pat or trade down. Historically, I don't think they've traded up much. Of course, the did surprise everyone last year by trading up to #10 for Jerod Mayo... so anything can happen.

LB is a popular pick for them. There's no reason to believe they won't trade up to secure "their guy" even if the general concesus is that player could be available with their 1st rounder. Do teams often trade their later picks and not their 'next in line'?

If that happens, the screaming you will hear....will be me......either we got Orakpo(me likey)....or we traded the pick for him away (no likey).

Yeah, I admire the Pats. How they draft, and how they run their organization. But the fact that their defense is different than ours is what got me thinking about this.....the chance of a player who does not fit our system, and thus, not on our draft board and would be of extreme value to the Pats :wheel:....anyways, unless someone special falls to us, I hope we can find a trade-down partner.

They traded back, not up. The Patriots had the #7 pick last year, the Saints traded up for Ellis.
