Wolf6151 latest mock, pre-combine.

Wolf6151

All Pro
1. Kyle Wilson-CB, this should need no explanation.
2. Mike Johnson-OG, I'd really rather have Maurkice Pouncey but I think that if available Washington will take him early in the 2nd round.
3. Ben Tate-RB, LeGarrette Blount, or Toby Gerhart.
4. Myron Lewis-FS, this is a very deep Safety class so someone should slide down a little.
5. Thomas Austin-OG/C, I'd actually prefer Sergio Render but I think he'll be gone in the 4th round and Austin gives us options since he can play C as well.
5. Linval Joseph-DT, good size and production in college last year. Also he's only a Junior so he's got some growing to do. His height worries me a little, like Okam, tall DT's can get stood up and lose leverage because they're so tall it's hard for them to get their pads low and gain leverage.
6. Barry Church-SS, depth behind Pollard and should play good special teams, he had good college production though it wasn't for a big time program there's really no risk in the 6th round. This is where you take risks on small school players.
7. BPA.

I wouldn't mind trading up in the 2nd to take Maurkice Pouncey ahead of Washington, don't know what that trade up would cost us though but it would probably be worth it.

Looks a lot like mine. I like it and your guys should realisitically be where you pick 'em. Do you still draft Mike Johnson if Chester Pitts returns? I say no and selected Baylor center JD Walton in 3rd with Marshall Newhouse OG/OT in 5th. I'm interested in your thoughts. I see Johnson as more of a Chester Pitts type & he'd probably be ok in ZBS but compare Newhouse 6'3" 326 and 5.06 to Johnson. Looking forard to see how these big boys do in combine on agility tests. I had Austin Thomas in 5th for long time as I really like him but Walton is better imo. Anyway, good job.

PS, how about looking at my guy in 7th WR David Gettis a Baylor WR 6'4" 209 lbs 4.44 speed?

Honestly I really don't want Pitts back. He's never been really good in the ZBS, he's now a FA= big pay raise, injured, and will be 30 yoa. when the season starts. I'd take Mike Johnson to replace Pitts. I'd take Austin to upgrade our backups at OG/C. I really want Pouncey but he won't be available to us at #51. I really like J.D. Walton as well and would be very happy with him in the 3rd but I think we've got to take a RB in the top 3 rounds and I'm taking OG before RB. We've got to upgrade the O-line or no RB is going anywhere. I'm also looking forward to how the big guys do in the agility tests, benchpress, and vertical jump. It's funny you mention Gettis in the 7th as I was looking for a tall WR here but couldn't make up my mind between a WR or QB to put on the practice squad. If Gettis has size and speed why is he only listed as a 7th round selection, somethings got to be wrong with him?

Despite his athleticism he has a hard time getting open. Plus he occasionally suffers from the dropsies.

Kubiac recently responded that Pitts is "ready to go today". While never a super star he played pretty well for years and this was his first season to miss a game. I don't see any guard beating him out next year as a starter which allows time to develop the LG. I can see Pitts as wanting to stay with his drafting team for his last contract and accept a reasonable increase. I can see drafting Johnson to replace Pitts next season (if he can) but if you are going to do that, why not a similar guard later? I also think part of Pitts problem was a new LT he had to help out every season. Even Salaam. In fact, Winston mentioned that on his radio show on 610 about 6 weeks ago.

What do you think about the Arkansas OG Petrus in comparison to Johnson?
Foster did pretty well behind our Oline last 3 games. If Gettis was a starter he would not be in 7th. That body with that unbelievable speed, you can coach him to run patterns and get loose, especially with AJ and our TE's. Holding the ball may be an issue, but we have dealt with that on much higher draft picks than a 7.

I think that Mike Johnson would be an upgrade over Pitts and would be much cheaper than Pitts' FA contract. I also like Mitch Petrus and considered swapping 2nd and 3rd round priorities to 2nd RB Anthony Dixon and 3rd OG Mitch Petrus but I value an upgrade on the O-line over an upgrade at RB. An upgrade on the O-line improves all aspects of the offense not just the running game. I don't know anything about him but I agree with teaching Gettis to run proper routes and holding onto the ball and in the 7th round we've got nothing to lose, low risk/high reward situation.

What do you think about Linval Joseph's height issue? Tall DT/NT have trouble getting their pads low enough to gain leverage. I'm just afraid he'd get stood up and pushed out of position like Okam does.

How about Wilson CB, Asamoah OG played in ZBS and Dixon RB?

I really like Wilson, he's a low 1st round prospect and he might be a little bit of a reach at #20 but he won't be there at #51 and I think that someone will overpay Dunta (Washington) so we'll need to fill his spot with a 1st round pick or very expensive FA. A 1st round pick is cheaper than an expensive FA.

I was high on Asamoah because he played in a ZBS until the Senior Bowl where he weighed in at 300 lbs., with the shortest arms of all O-linemen, and was called under developed muscular wise. He might be great in the future but it seems he's got some shortcomings. His stock has fallen from the 2nd round to 3rd-4th since he'll need alot of NFL weight trainging.

I really like Dixon as well, he's got size and runs with power, he's got decent speed and quickness but not elite for a RB and should go in the 2nd round. He's just not quite on the elite level like Spiller. I'd have no problem if the Texans took him in the 2nd and Mitch Petrus in the 3rd.

I really like this.

The good news is that your boy Gerhart will probably will be there in the 3rd after the combime.
If only I was certain. I'd sign Pitts & draft Newhouse in 4th. Wilson CB in 1st, Pouncy C/G in 2nd to replace you know who, Gerhart in 3rd and be a very happy man.
