Williams was caught in a trap. The Jaguars' left guard blocks down on Anthony Maddox (RDT) and the Jaguars' left tackle releases to the second level to engage a linebacker. The play is designed like that because there were two fake run actions that will draw the right defensive end to the weak side. If the first -- Reggie Williams' end-around -- doesn't fool Williams, the fake hand-off to Fred Taylor will. The key point is that neither action was designed to force Williams to choose between the two - just to keep him from moving laterally, where the play was designed to go.

In essence, Williams was neutralized before the play even began due to his position. The fakes are there for good measure and to prevent the safeties from getting an easy read on the play.
