Will It Happen?

All negativity aside. So we haven't picked up any big free agents. We haven't even had the draft yet, but I know I'm not the only one who can't wait to see what our team looks like next year. There will be no excuses. It's do or die, and I for one can't wait. Finally I'm going to be able to watch all the games, and I just want to know how many others on this board can't wait to see this team make their real playoff push. Here's to the Texans in 2005!
 
They have a reasonable chance (as a wild card team), but only if they improve in all areas of the game (offense, defense and special teams).
 
Not likely...less than a 50% chance. But they have an outside chance. 2006 should be more likely. Keep in mind that as far as injuries, we had a fairly good 2004 and still only finished 7-9.
 
as i watch the playoffs on tv and see how hyped the crowd is and the playoff atmosphere I just tell myself that I can't wait till my Texans are in the playoffs. GO TEXANS!!!!!! :jam:
 
They should make it but the AFC is real tough right now and i don't know if we can sweep Tenn. and Jacksonville again next year. All that being said I think we have a winning record next year, but get left out of the playoffs seing the number of great teams their are in the AFC.
 
as good of a job as our staff has done at drafting players and getting a FEW good Free agents, i'm confident they will do what it takes to fix the teams flaws in the off-season and make a play-off push come next season !

I think that conveys my sentiment, than CAN, but WILL they?
 
If they progress as well as they have the previous years, they should be challenging for a wildcard spot in the last couple weeks of the season.
 
At this point, imo, it's pretty close to 50/50, with maybe a slight edge on the NO side of the equation. But, that's about double what I thought this year, and the first two years was near zero. So, they are moving in the right direction, but the AFC is very tough, and they have some serious problems to fix, namely getting pressure on the opposiung QB, while limiting the pressure to our own. Fix those two issues completely, and they go to the playoffs easily. If they make some strides with that, they have a decent shot. If they make no progress, they have almost no shot. I really think those are the two keys.
 
The team will continue to improve and at this point I'm thinking a 9-7 season is reasonable. We'll be in contention to be a wildcard.
 
Sure we can make it ... provided... we actually do improve in certain areas as stated above, that our opposition come back to the field a little bit (a la Tampa Bay, Oakland and Carolina) and that we actually go 8-8 or better! As long as we don't slide backwards anything can happen on any given Sunday right???
 
I'll wait till the draft to decide...Right now they need too much help...If nothing changes, neither will their playoff hopes...We can only pray for some major changes so we can be more consistent...

Well their predictions were to make the playoffs in their 4th year so this is it...I think the draft will be even more interesting this year...So far i think getting Cheatwood is a good choice...Its always nice to get new blood no other NFL team has had yet...Especially if he turns out to be a *star*... :jumpbanan
 
They might even win the division, if they can keep a good core of players and eliminate the bad apples
 
I have to agree with the concensus of most of the others on this thread. We have a chance at a wild card shot. I'm forever the optimist. However, the realistic side of me tells me to be cautious. If we were in the NFC (better known as the NO FOOTBALL CONFERENCE), I would say hell yes. But, we will need a 10-6 record. It's possible. :texanprid
 
We'll be like Buffalo from this year... we'll have a chance all the way till the end, but we wont get any help from other teams
