Why these successsful Texans make me nervous..

STFU, don't even start a war of words with me. i am not jumping into a pissing contest because frankly, you would be pissing into the wind. I shouldn't have to defend myself on this site every day but it seems like guys with years on this site act like they are the only fans in the world...GET OVER YOURSELF....Some of us avoid this site because of garbage like this. Ive been a fan since day one and use to FREQUENT this site, I am sure some of you will know my old screen name, I know if Vinny were around he would not like I was here.....amazingandre.....THATS me, Im back, Im older and much more mature, but people like you are starting to irritate me with all this garbage about not being a real fan.

a real fan wouldn't say something like that amazing80

:whip:

Yes, I'm kidding. I kid. I'm a kidder.

Most importantly you need to learn when to cheer and when to STFU. Now if you and Amazing80 will pay attention one day you too can be a good fan.
Mike

This right here is intentionally trying to get a rise out of someone. Do not ever question MY LOVE FOR THIS TEAM....the point is, who are you to tell people to learn anything? I am willing to bet I could teach you more than you could even imagine, but because I just joined and my low post count, people do not want to take these posts seriously because, "hes a noob" :vincepalm:

Nothing to do with your post count. I was assuming that with a location of WI you can't know anything but the discount double-check. Don't know how that got confused. I will be more clear with newbs from now on.

Mike

P.S. When am I obnoxious enough that you don't figure out that I'm just clowning around? Do I have to go find that damn kitten/sarcasm smiley? Do newbs know what they mean?

Dude. We're trying to help you newbs out. You have to pay attention though. Its rough being a Houston fan. You have to know when its ok to relax (after the game is over... never a moment before) and you have to know when to talk trash. (Never before the game is over.)

Mike

LOL, this thread has definitely produced some good laughs, but I concur whole heartedly with your theory, but being that I also watched an awesome 2-14 season, I guess we're all noobs! Hey, Guess what?! Football is back in HOUSTON!

I'm not starting a war of words. I was giving you advice. I don't know why you told me to Stir The Fire Up. I am sorry you are insecure about the length of time that you have been here. If you stay longer that will go away. This talk that you cannot be a true fan because you only started rooting for the Texans in October is just not legitimate.

Mike

LOL, Mike, quit getting people all riled up! haha, I know how you work sir, I lurked for some time on here!

C'mon, y'all, we are ALL part of Texans Nation. We have enough of a hard time with all the outsiders dismissing our team and talking trash about Houston without imploding ourselves right when our team starts to be successful.

So now you think you're better than me!!!

My only beef with newb bandwagoners are the few that come onto my beloved Texans Talk and ghey it up with oversensitivity.

I think you just hurt my feeling. I'll have to check it and get back to you....

Wow. Quite an intriguing read here.

Are some folks really upset about new fans to the team? How is that not anything but incredibly shortsighted?

Kudos to those who were loyal to the team since day one, but that doesnt give license to talk down to new fans nor does it mean their new-found loyalty to the team is any less valubale then others.

I am a mod on a Ravens message board (Ravens 24x7) and these "real fan" debates are not tolerated. Allowing them to go on stifles growth of the fan base and makes others feel intimidated. Team snobbery is ugly, no matter the team.

If someone bleeds red, white and blue Texan, what gives others to right to question their loyalty?

Oh yeah?!?!?! Well, I'm a better fan than all of you!!! Nanny nanny boo boo, stick your head in doo doo.

Hey, my post count is low and I've been here since 2004...I just lurk more than I post...so that's not a surefire indicator. :peek:

IF they actually bleed those beloved colors sir...IF

We don't know what color they bleed until they get cut...

So there is a test?!?! SMH.

You don't even live in Houston, so your status as a fan should be questioned, right?

LOL, I was born and raised in Houston, born in Heights Hospital as a matter of fact and now I live a whopping 50 minutes from Reliant...try again! Sorry that I've been somewhat successful in my life, but not actually successful enough to get a loft downtown or in the Galleria area! lol

You missed my point.

Clearly, you have an arbitrary litmus test for Texan fandom. So I ask then in a more direct way, why do you feel the need to question your own fans loyalty to the team?

I sure hope the Texans kick some Raven a$$ so a bunch of these boneheads will shut their pieholes and I'm talking big media all the way down to coworkers, neighbors and friends.

& if we get our butts handed to us are you going to shut your pie-hole?

Doubt it.

That's not the way it works.

The thing that worries me most about these Texans.... if they get to the SuperBowl... that will be the expectation every year from here out.

While I get having high expectations, I know it's not going to happen every year. I like to enjoy the season, every stinking minute of it. I like to go along for the ride & ride the wave of emotions a season brings.

You all know me, even last year until we were mathematically out of it, I held on to hope against all hope.

With these "new" successful Texans, that wave is going to crash if we start the year off 0-1..... or 1-1.... every loss is going to be even more unbearable (around here) than it already is.

It's not easy to bring the koolaid every week in that kind of environment.

Thats the nature of the beast. I am emotional after a loss, I wear my heart on my sleeve, but I get over it within a day and move on. Some people are not like that. Heck here in Wisconsin, people are like that towards the Packers, it is what it is. This is sports and you get some knuckleheads who follow the same team as you, nothing you can do about it except try to instill some rational thought into their minds.

There's no litmus test really, I mean, mostly I'm being rather facetious through this whole thread. Your sarcasm meter is either not working, or maybe my sarcasm isn't. I've explained what my problem is, I don't know why I have to keep explaining it to a Raven fan of all people. Sure, you are a "moderator" on a Raven website, slow clap for you buddy. The website thing makes no bit of difference to me obviously, as I just found Ttalk during training camp. It's whatever though, I was making fun of a lot of the popular posts with this current thread, but then I found some truth in what I was making fun of after I thought about it. The fun part is, people get all butt hurt. That's hilarious. We're rooting for a FOOTBALL team with a bunch of sissies!! LOL Does anyone not see the irony in that?!?! If you just got on the bandwagon, if you've been here, that's great! Root your hind parts off! Don't, by any means jump ship though once we start sucking again in 10 years! That's all I'm saying.

Here. I'll state my credentials before the TexansFandom supervisory board:

1. Was an Indy fan after Bud left town.
2. Left Indy in the middle of a playoff run to be a Texans fan.
3. Emails from 2002 in my email account "Texansfan4life@....."
4. My desk is referred to as the shrine to the texans.
5. Member of "houstonprofootball.com" when we were scared we were going to be the "Roughnecks".
6. My post count should be considerably higher. I was part of the original TT before the merger.

I am hereby submitting myself to the Texans fan approval board. I humbly request that you consider my application and approve me as a certified, Grade-A fan.

Does anyone else hear the Yoda voice anytime something like this pops up? Seriously, I cannot read it in any other voice but Yoda's.

All new posters to Texans Talk are welcome and are encouraged to hit the ground running with all comments.

How do you think the Packers feel? I saw so many packer fans in houston all of a sudden last year.

Its just a trade off. You can either keep losing and have die hard fans, or get some success and have bandwagon fans.

Besides why worry about stuff you have no control over.

You know that phrase "real recognize real"? Well, I think real texan fans recognize other real texan fans.

Besides, I hope our biggest worry is bandwagon fans because we won the superbowl as opposed to firing kubiak and losing playoff games this year.:texanbill:

I don't know, I mean it was kind of nice, to cheer and cry with your ride or die fans, people you knew were down to watch the game. Whether our chance to win was slim to none. Now, with the win, while it is great to see the capacity of Texans fans at bars almost double now, and I'm sure Uncle Bob appreciates the increased jersey sales, I know many of them, for a fact, were repping different colors earlier this season.

Ok, no the real reason that these newfangled good Texans make me nervous, post from people who know nothing about the Texans. Uggh, do your research before you jump on a bandwagon. Hell, I'm not even a Cowboys fan, but I can tell you most of their starting offense and defense from all of their 90's Super Bowls, Niners too, and Denver....I mean, come on, did you even pay attention when you used to root for the Packers....That Roy Rogers is a great QB, Huh!?

Then there's the foolish threads that get started, which I think is where I was going with the last paragraph, but then I got distracted, and I'm tired. Ok, so yeah. There's a reason so many people here, USED to be on clutchfans...well, they Took the Lakers to 7, and ever since, that sight has been horrible to go to.

Please, new people, we appreciate you becoming a fan, but learn your facts, and let's talk sensible football shall we??

OH, yes, Let's go Texans!! Wooh!

This, I'm afraid is the price of success. Everyone likes to be associated with a winner. Remember all those VY jerseys we used to hate seeing every where in Reliant. Seen many lately?

We're the "hot property" on the Houston sports scene. Late to the party noobs come with the territory.

Perki you need to think of yourself as a Texans Master. Be patient with the young padawans as the learn the ways of our Texans.

I know it's tough.
Sometimes I'm like....
...what did you say...??

But then I think if we don't help them, who will?

Clutchfans is just horrible now.. they're so arrogant

Clutchfans is just horrible now.. they're so arrogant

I think "ignorant" would be the more proper phrase. DaDakota and some of the others weren't bad, but man, the newcommers...it got ridiculous. I mean when they are arguing about whether or not Jordan played during our second Chip...um, yes, he came back as 45, sucked and then went back to 23 because that was the last jersey his dad saw him play in, or something to that effect. Once he got back to 23, he lit the world on fire again, but his teamates weren't ready for the smoke. As far as I know, there were 27 other teams in the league at the time that could have stepped up and took those chips, but they didn't. nah na hah na boo boo. Should of got in on that Craig! I would have loved a Rockets Bulls finals the next year, too bad they traded away a championship team for Barkley and we started wearing the pajamas which completely messed up our mojo.

Anyway, I digressed quite a bit. My whole point was, fine, hop on the wagon, but don't come here talking unless you know what you are talking about! I'd hate to have to go message board searching again. I might start my own, where you have exactly 30 questions and 10 seconds to answer each question. If said questions are not answered with over 90% proficiency, then you will be a rookie with no new thread posts and limited posting priveledges until you pass the test which will be a series of 15 different tests randomly picked assessments. You can also only take one per week. Study up boys!

Man, I so glad that we have Andre Jones back from the hammy. Also, I re-watched the balt. week 6 game and Jacoby Johnson looked pretty good. I say he had two feet down in the 4 quarter - that was just som bs.

Clutchfans is just horrible now.. they're so arrogant

clutchfans is more of the same, the "99ers" feel superior to everyone, i use to visit that site when it was clutchcity.net, the mb used to be private and only gave access to people who made donations via paypal, i was 15 at the time i didnt have a paypal account.. but anyway. smh there are people who really point their noses up to peoples join dates, as if it solidifies your fanhood.. i was a member of the espn message boards since 2004, they recently changed their message board formats and the entire cast of the texans board decided to leave and make our own board to post on. texans4life.com. but i decided to open up an account here also...
