Why Texans Will Select Young

E-Dawg said:
John Elway and Steve Young scramble and won Super Bowls. Randall Cunningham has the highest win percentage in NFL history. Donovan Mcnabb wins a lot more than he loses and Michael Vick who can't pass wins more than he loses.
Steve Young and John Elway were proven passers. They own some of the highest QB ratings in a season.

The Texans are in a bind. Vince Young is now a football legend in Texas no matter what happens from here on out. The organization would be both naive and ignorant to now simply say that we are settled at quarterback and not give him a serious evaluation. I give no weight to statements previously made because they were delivered prior to the official announcement. Given that, and the fact that there is not yet a head coach, a permanent decision not to take Young has simply not been made.

And who had the highest QB rating in college this year?

Rudy Carpenter from Arizona State

Rudy Carpenter, Brian Brohm, then Vince. By highly rated passers they weren't referring to their college QB rating, they were referring to the fact that they had the ability to make all the throws on the NFL level, which Vince does not.

anybody hear Rich Lord make one of his completely irrational statements about Vince Young this afternoon?

Mark was talking about how he isn't really convinced about Vince's throwing abilities and how it will take a few years to become NFL ready

Rich's classic quote was something like "well all quarterbacks go through that, but Vince won't"

they will pass on Young and draft Reggie Bush

I love Vince Young, but now that the college season is over, my allegiance goes back to the Texans and Reggie Bush will be a much better NFL player and pick for the Texans than Vince would

-Vince has mediocre arm strength
-he can't read a defense
-he can't audible plays at the line of scrimmage
-he doesn't even take a snap under center
-he averaged 3.7 yards a carry against OHIO ST., 1.9 yards a carry against A&M, and -.7 yards a carry against Kansas this season, those were the only 3 college teams he faced with decent linebackers and he struggled mightily, he will not be able to do what he did to a bad USC defense in the NFL, he couldn't even do it against the better defenses in college

our only logical choice is Reggie
