Denver has Moneyballed the NFL with their running backs/system.
Terrell Davis (6th rd.)-
1995 (R) 14 gp, 1117 yds, 4.7 ypc
1996 16 gp, 1538 yds, 4.5 ypc
1997 15 gp, 1750 yds, 4.7 ypc
1998 16 gp, 2008 yds, 5.1 ypc
Olandis Gary(4th rd.)- 1999(R) 12 gp, 1159 yds, 4.2 ypc
Mike Anderson(6th rd.)-2000(R) 12 gs, 1487 yds, 5.0 ypc
Committee 2001- 16gp, 1877 yds, 3.9 ypc
Clinton Portis(2nd-51) -
2002 (R) 12 gs,1508 yds, 5.5 ypc
2003 13 gp,1591 yds, 5.5 ypc
Reuben Droughns(3rd)- 2004 15 gs, 1240 yds, 4.5 ypc
Mike Anderson(6th rd.)-2005 15 gp, 1014 yds, 4.2 ypc
Tatum Bell (2nd rd.) - 2005 14 gp, 921 yds, 5.3 ypc
The Broncos traded Clinton Portis for Champ Bailey and a second round pick, which they used to draft Tatum Bell.
The Broncos traded Reuben Droughns for Ebenezer Ekuban and Michael Myers. Myers is a starter, and Ekuban contributed as a backup. They ran better this year without Droughns.
Both running backs were dealt after money issues came up. In short, Denver keeps drafting RBs low, making them dominant rushers, and flipping them to hungry NFL teams when their price tags rise/when they open their mouths.
EDIT: tried to make the stats more manageable.
