why kevin kolb?

heres my take. sure, he's from htown, and sure he has decent size and a good arm, but he wont be ready for another 3 years or so. if kolb is our starting QB in his 2nd year, we're gonna be going through alot of ups and downs, just like with david carr, except maybe worse. we'd be better off waiting til next year to take a polished QB that has run in a more ideal offense like brohm or booty or just take Quinn this year. we need to get better NOW. we cant wait for Kolb to progress, because it's going to take awhile. Kolb wont help us next year, or even the year after that most likely.

we won 6 games with bad quarterback play and no running back, so what makes you think we'll be any worse with a decent RB in Green and a beefed up defense through the draft, and maybe even Sage running the show?

if kevin kolb didnt play at UH, would you still be so high on him? i get the feeling that everyone is going through VY withdrawals and wants Kolb just because he's this year's hometown guy.

I'll start off by saying I don't know much about Kevin Kolb at all...but mostly what the Kolb homers and haters say about him. But from the highlights ive watched on youtube.com (highlights rarely tell the whole story) and also importantly the interviews he has done on the radio and video (also on youtube) i was very impressed. He's well spoken (make fun if you want) and seems very bright. He sounds like a good leader and knows his football.

I don't think Russell or Quinn will do us much good next year. I say take kolb in the 3rd to groom for a few years. I hope we're not drafting high enough to take Brohm..but i'd love to have him. I see the same happening next year with brohm, booty, henne, and brennan...we arent' going to want to start them right away.

I think kolb would be cheaper to sit on the bench during that time instead of a 1st round pick would be.

Right off the bat of course quinn is better than kolb, imo. but if kubiak likes kolb enough to take him in the 3rd to groom its fine by me.

I would use the 3rd pick on the Hawaii Center Samson, then next year the Texans 1st rd. pick on his QB Colt

i have no problem taking him in the 3rd or 4th, preferably the 4th, but people making insane mocks with us taking him in the 2nd is crazy. it would force us to take alot of players JUST to fill holes in the 3rd-5th instead of taking the BEST players to fill the holes that we already have.

IMO, what we should do is just not take a QB at all this draft. fill the holes with the players that we want. kolb will probably sit for 2 years and maybe get some garbage time in his 2nd year. i think any of the QB's in 2008 draft will see the same amount of time that Kolb would in the same year, so why take him? i dunno if i worded that well, but it makes some sense to me.
