what i want to know is why in the hell casserly is still here? this moron should have been sent packing with capers. with all his bone headed decisions it would seen like this fruit loop is out to hurt the team and not help it. what does mcnair see in this fool?:brickwall

A.) Dom Davis with the fourth pick wasn't so bad.
B.) The Texans did pretty well 2002-4. You think Casserly all at once got stupid?

Trust me when I tell you this pick isn't for CC to make. I give McNair a ton of credit for hiring Dan Reeves as a consultant. If it is CC decision, I don't know what to say.

My only guess is that they couldn't think of any better options this particular season, and don't want to be playing GM musical chairs each year. I'm seriously starting to doubt Mcnair as an owner due to his continued faith in CC though.

This came to me while I was driving home tonight.

Casserly is being kept around so Reeves can learn from him. Only thing is that Casserly doesn't know it, but he grooming Reeves to become the next GM. Why else would Reeves come here and not go out for the HC position when it was in obvious jeoporady. Mark my words. Reeves will be the GM no sooner than the trade deadline and no later than the end of the upcoming season.

Very good observation. I never thought of that before. You just won me over.

Thanx for the props.
Check this conspiracy theory out.
The Texans were the 1st team to interview Pat Hill (Carr's Fresno HC). Was it a ploy to get the ball rolling for other teams to interview him and then get hired to become a HC somewhere like Raiders or Saints or at best an O Coordinator. Then when/if we dangle the Carr trade/transition tag bait out there we might get a bite.

This on is a little more far fetched but you never know what McNair and Reeves are cooking up. Kinda like the underground govt guys on X-Files.

Honestly this is exactly what I was saying when Reeves was hired - I just thought McNair would make the move before this draft - but I see the merit in having Reeves sit thru one draft and get some OJT with the whole staff and get a bead on how Mr McNair runs the organization and will handle things before he takes over the job and Charlie is released. Honestly at this point I dunno what Charlie is really doing in the office much anymore - Does the owner really need a second opinion after hes pretty much stated he's listening to Reeves? :twocents: I mean Reeves was the GM in Atlanta afterall - its not like he doesnt know the job allready.

Maybe they want a scapegoat available if needed. Kinda like some wood for the fire.

Hey Dan.......Yes Bob......Throw another Casserly on the fire.

I hope you are right. I will stand behind whatever the Texans decide to do with this pick as long as I can feel confident knowing CC had little to do with it...

Are there any rumore out there that Reeves will be the next GM? CC is a joke?

why dont we start one on this board....Reeves the next GM Houston Texans....
That's fine with me! Reeves will take over next month and cc will go to the cowboys.

My reading between the lines.....

The draft staff reports to CC in the organization. If CC stays, the draft folks stay. (I've heard that in so many words).

I am thinking that CC stayed because with a massive house cleaning, the benefits you would get by getting new evaluators and GM, would be outweighed by all the hassle of getting new draft guys and GM and a relationship with all the new people.

If you have lots of draft picks and the first pick in the draft, you don't want to spend key off-season time trying to figure out who you are gonna get to run the ship.

That this would be too much of a do-over.

I don't have a problem with Charlie. He has his hits and misses like other GMs, and some of the new Texans that people like to refer to as busts, it is too early to tell, especially with a team that is so thin. (The mo better players you have, the mo better everyone looks). Depth takes time.

The Texans can only go up from here which means ("gulp") CC can ride this wave for a while and take credit...

Is Dan still in Houston?? I thought he was to look over the team, and then go back home......... Had no idea he'd be around as late as the trade deadline.

Maybe Casserly's role is more limited than we know. idonno: Maybe he's a GM that gets the players the coaches want, and he's got mad skills [allegedly] with regards to salary cap management.

Every organization has different levels of responsibility for front office personnel. Perhaps Casserly doesn't have as much say as GMs with other teams. Who knows? We've never been allowed a peek behind the curtain.

[/speculation]

We also have Danny Ferens, our capologist, who probably makes him appear he has mad skills. What I do not know is if Ferrens is Casserly's guy or McNair's.
