Ok that made me laugh.

Seriously though you can do this with almost every "supposed" need we have with a few notable exceptions.

Do we need a RT? Lots of people say we need one on this board but is that true? Or do we really just need to get Todd Wade to play up to the level that was expected of him when he was signed as a free agent? He started 78 games for the Dolphins at RT so he it isn't like he's being asked to do something he's never done before.

Position by position you can do that and in a lot of positions we've got someone who should be playing better than they are right now. Sure we've got some real needs but it's not a case where our entire 53 man roster needs to be replaced with one or two exceptions.

Our coaching staff needs to go. That's going to do more good than adding any drafts worth of players no matter where you pick. Our problems are not a result of an overwhelming lack of talent.

Jimmy Johnson talks a lot about the Texans. I don't know if he likes watching a coaching staff fall to ruin or if he wants to be the next coach or what, but I have to admit that the guy talks a lot about the Texans.

I agree.. look at 2002.. very untalented team but if I recall.. we didn't get blown out in the am't of games that we are now.
and we have more talent across the board then we did then.. arguments could be made for shaper and glenn leaving compared to who we added, but we didn't have weigart or wade on the line in 2002..Pitts was rookie ... james allen.. hmmm

to me (and everyone else) players have just lost the confidence in our coaches. who blames them after 4 years of losing

It's the coaching. These guys have a lot of potential, but none of them are living up to it.

I think the best way to look at our position needs, IMO, is that the Texans can pick up 2 to 3 players this offseason who will make an impact. Anything else is for backup. JMO.

If I had to think of 3 positions.. I'd say TE,#2 WR and Cb where we need another impact. (unless someone can get p-buch motivated, if so ..Center or LB)

pete carroll - he's a college coach. he stunk as an nfl coach.

kubiak - has never been a head coach. he's had alot of interviews and nobody has wanted to hire him. why?

jj - talking head on tv. why would he give up his fishing to come here?

why not try a new guy? most decent guys already got jobs.

The reason JJ would leave his nice desk job...? IMO, 2 words, Bill Parcells. Bill was a guy who won 2 super bowls, went to a third, got the cushy commentators job, then took the most unlikely of coaching positions, being the head coach for the other JJ. And, has turned the Cowboys into a legitimate NFC super bowl contender.

I think Jimmy has something to prove.

Johnson would be a disaster. He failed in Miami and he would fail big-time here.

We've already got the disaster times ten.

JJ would be a huge step up from here. Either as GM or GM/HC.

I'd love to have Herman Edwards come in, but it looks like the Jets have every intention of keeping him. Fischer would be welcome too.

I think the majority of being a head coach is being able to point out what is going wrong in the organization and fixing it ASAP. Capers hasn't been able to do that. The decision to get rid of Palmer was a little too obvious, so he doesn't get credit for that. But things like putting Pitts at LT. He should have been there after the 2nd or 3rd game of the season. I don't know who to blame for that, but Capers should have been on it ASAP. Telling Pendry to stop letting Carr throw those hitches last week. Taking over the defense for Fangio. These are things he needs to but hasn't been able to. And yeah, the majority of these problems seem to stem from the assistant coaches, but as a head coach, you've got to see recognize that and fix it. He needs to tell Pendry "Put Pitts at LT", he needs to tell Fangio "You suck, I'm taking over your job now". There are just so many problems out there that Capers hasn't been able to fix.

Weis has signed a 10-year contract with ND. Why we'd want Singletary here is beyond me. Of all these folks, I wouldn't mind seeing Wade Phillips or Fisher here. I don't necessarily believe either one would do better than Capers over a four-year span, but it would be fun to see either one on the Houston sidelines from a fan standpoint.
You must not be from the USA. Mike Singletary , local standout at linebacker at every level. obviously you don`t know football. Why would we want retreads or also rans.Mike would make more sense than Fisher or Wade on intesity alone. You must have not seen his devastation on offenses as a player and leader on the field. If the Texans don`t take Mike now San Francisco will be the next defensive monster.

Actually, the idea of a recent player/coach sounds like a good idea. Maybe our guys would identify with a hard nose, disciplinarian. But he better have been to a superbowl or two back in his days. We need a leader, who won't except losing, breaks a mike or to at a press conference, and dosen't just say we didn't execute.

Mariucci is available. He did well with the 49ers even post Steve Young. I believe part of his failings with the Lions is due to their GM Millen. Of course he'd be going from his 3rd overall selection QB to the 1st plus it looks like he'd get the added bonus of the 1st overall this year as well. What I like is he has an overall winning record. If anything, do not hire another coach with a losing record.

I'd make Mooch an offensive coordinator or QB coach. We'd have a great west coast offense.

You are talking crazy as I am agreeing with you too much lately. :)

I would not mind his as a QB coach. I have heard a couple of "insiders" discussing how his version of WC offense is outdated.

Ok I am gonna go a little different from my usual Kubiak, B. Shottenheimer, Hoke, Marciano.

Kubiak, Dennison, Singletery, Marciano
