Who would you want in exchange for Glenn?

So I've heard that Glenn's been givin permission to seek a trade, and what this thread is about is who , if we do trade him, would you want in exchange for him? Please don't post how you don't want to trade him cause hes a leader and can teach PB and D-Rob and etc., I'm just who or what would you want in exchange for him?

What about sending him back to the Jets for John Abreham? I know it's a reach and he probably won't fit our scheme but it's a thought.

The question is what can we get for Glenn. I think not very much. He's 33, makes a ton of money, and his skills declined last season. We would be lucky to get a 5th round pick for him IMO.

I would rather keep him around for next season then cut him at the end of the year.

the only + to letting glenn go is to get rid of his salary this year. to do that they need to get rid of him before june 1st. that way we can eat the rest of his sign on bonus this year and not have any of his dead money around next year.

I honestly cant think of someone invaluable enough to another team that they would take a 33 year old CB who had an average year last season.

Trade him to Oakland for their 1st in 2009 :P.

Travis Henry is also seeking a trade. So why not him? :hmmm:

Buffalo wouldn't do a player for player swap with Arizona for their LT Shelton. I doubt they'd consider a trade for a 33 year old CB, and a relatively young RB straight up.

He wouldnt be "dead money". He would be a mentor to DROB and PB. It may cost us some money, but AG could teach our young CB's alot this year which would help us more in the future (more than xtra cap room that we arent going to use this year). CC already said he isnt going to pick up anybody big in FA so we dont need the cap room this year. If i had to trade Glenn for anything I would take a 4th round pick cause CC always seems to come through in the 4th! :thumbup Go Mathis, and GO TEXANS!! :thumbup

If we have to have him go, then a trade for an O-lineman or two, dependent on quality, would be "OK" I guess.

Donnie Abraham is leaning towards retirement right now. The Jets look like a good fit for Glenn. Unfortunately, I don't think we get squat for him, just like we didn't get anything for Sharper. I am saddened by this, but I think it is the reality. The team is going young and fast. They seem to be cutting ties with most of the veterans that we had in our inaugural season.

Personally, I want Glenn to stay..It's not like we really need the cap space. This is going to hurt Glenn because he isn't going to get the same money out there. Change is inevitable in the NFL. Next year, Walker,McKinney, and probably Wong will be gone.

A team that can win now and needs secondary help....... It will either be the Jets or.... COLTS. He's gonna be a June 1st cut though.

We will get nothing for Glenn just like we got nothing for Sharper and for the same reasons.

That said if I had to ask for something in exchange for Glenn I'd say I'll give up Aaron Glenn for a clone of Dunta Robinson, nothing less. Go get some DNA, get busy cloning and don't call me asking for Aaron Glenn until you're finished and "Dunta II" is ready to suit up.

yeah i don't see quality depth at offensive tackle position...at the very least we could get a middle round pick next year and a solid young back-up tackle

I don't want him to go, but if he does, use his cap space for something useful...
I still wouldn't mind seeing a S. Alexander or Edge in a Texans uni.
Very improbable, I know, but a guy can dream... at least that's what I should be doing instead of trolling this board @ 1am...

I would trade Glenn, Moses, and all of our second day picks next year for Wes Welker, the "Natural"

Wes and Mathis waiting on kicks would be very intimidating for opposing special teams and if Jerome became too integral to our offense it might save him some wear and tear.
Think about running an offensive set out on passing downs with VM in the backfield, AngyrDre on the outside, Wes in the slot, DD in the other slot, and Mathis split wide outside of DD. The Texans couldn't defend that with 15 guys on the field.

Houston sportsfans would then have both Roy Hobbs and the Natural (Luke Scott and Wes)

I would say a DT or 2nd round draft pick

We need a good free safety. That Marcus Coleman experiment was a complete bust.

Sorry, I don't see it that way, espically the KC game.

As for what I want for Glenn...anything. I'd really hate to seea nother tradabel commodity leave the team with out us gettign anything. Ideally I'd like a mid-round pick in next year's draft.

We need to see how certain players do this year. The label of "project" has to come off of Wand, Pitts, and Peek. Joppru has to give us something too. Jammal Lord needs to show us that he has some grasp of playing safety and has some ability in said position. Is he a nice backup or Coleman's heir apparent? I hope Greenwood is an improvement on Sharper and not another Charlie Clemons type bust. We are 4 QB's deep but are Ragone and Symons ready for duty any time soon?

Speaking of Symons, we seem to have a lot of "bottom feeders" that are sticking around. Guys with lots of potential like the already mentioned Lord and Symons. Others are Starling, Milford Brown, Weary, and the slew of OLB Tweeners we have drafted over the years. Are these guys nothing but depth?

Dallas comes to mind as a team needing a veteran CB - (if Newman sucks again or if they have an injury)
Could they use Moses - we coudl add him in for free.

I would be thrilled if we could get a 3rd next year. A 4th would be better than nothing. (maybe Glenn and our 4th for a 3rd)

If the Jets want him back - same deal - we could even throw in Coleman if we get a 2nd round pick :heh:

Then who would start at FS, Jammal Lord? Great idea  ...

I doubt Dallas has much interest in Glenn. They just paid big bucks to get Anthony Henry from the Browns to play opposite of Newman.

Why would you want to trade our 4th and Glenn for a 3rd? Our 4th round picks always come out good. we should start trading our 2nd round picks for 3rd and 4ths lol. WTF have you been smoking to talk about trading Coleman??? He did great last year at FS for us! He single handedly won the Chiefs game for us. We dont even have a decent backup for him if we did trade him...

You could trade him to the Raiders. The Raiders like old veterans (and I am not trying to be funny) and quick fixes. They got a few picks from their trades this season but they also have a couple of players we could use like Jerry Porter or something.

Why would the Raiders trade a young WR they just signed to a big contract for a soon-to-be washed up CB?

I see the Jets as a team in need of a CB. We might get a low pick (5th or 6th) from them.

Pitts had a better 2nd year than 3rd, Carr had the fewest sacks when pitts was at left tackle. Wand, with that huge frame must get stronger and move his feet better. Peek showed flashes of playmaking ability each time he was on the field. He made the most of limited opportunities. He needs to keep his head in the game and channel his emotions and play with controlled rage.

He had 1 or 2 good games, but there are 16. He was consistantly late in over the top help and out of position to make plays most of the time. Call me critical, but I'm a realist. I'm also one of the texans biggest fans. I haven't missed a game either in person or on the tube. We have some huge holes that need to be filled. Steve McKinney for example. He has played as bad as anyone on the O-Line, but he's media saavy and a homeboy so he escapes most of the criticism from the fans and the media. The same goes for Aaron Glenn. G-Funk Walker hasn't been what we expected, and we signed him to a huge deal. The drafts indicate that the brass agree with me, D-Line, center, and the trade for Buchannan.

The fans have been extremely hard on McKinney. He hasn't escaped anything.

Myself and a hand full of others have been hard on Mckinney, are you willing to admit that he gets a free ride from the media or in your eyes are they equally as hard on him as myself and a few other fans who call things as they see them without all the sugar on top.

I have only seen you say a few words the last few days, but we have been pounding on McKinney here and at hpf for well over a year now.

There were numerous threads where people called out McKinney for being the worst of the OLinemen. Here's just one of the threads I found. Link

There was no shortage of people who felt McKinney was the weak link.

I am not in a hurry to trade Glenn or Coleman - but our D is in a state of flux, so why not replace them with cheaper younger players NOW - instead of having to do it in 2 years when the rest of our D has stabilized (hopefully it can be stabilized by then).

Dallas still seems like the best option - Newman hasn't cut it. Plus they have no depth. As much as they have improved the rest of their D, they should be willing to part with a draft pick to round out their secondary.
