Who was our best value pick?

By this I mean not so much where you thought they were rated but for how much production you think they'll give us and at the spot they were drafted.

For me it was a close race between Molden, Adibi, and Okam

Best value pick was Molden and here's why:

Molden has the hips to turn and run with WRs as well as any CB that came out this year. You cant coach hips, that's something CBs either have or they dont and its the difference between the Champ Bailey's of the league and the Petey Faggins'. If Molden had gone to the Senior Bowl or even played at a marquee school I believe he would've been drafted around where Cromartie was.

He's got all the physical talent to be a shutdown corner and if this coaching staff can develop him properly that's what I believe he will be in this league. If we can get a shutdown CB in the 3rd round I believe that is the best value of the 3. So here's to Molden becoming a shutdown CB for the Texans!!!:whip:

Molden reminds me of the Jacoby Jones pick, a super athlete who had limited experience at a small school. He will contribute more in '09 than '08. And that translate to Cromartie as well, who broke out in his 2nd season. Is Molden the best value? Well, I think the Texans were fortunate that a run on CBs never materialized in the 3rd round.

When you look at what The Texans obtained by drafting down and getting Duane Brown, I would say the Duane Brown brought alot of value. It helped out with the OT position, basically gave us back our 6th rounder which pretty much meant we got Meyers for free, and gave us a 3rd rounder which gave us the speedy Steve Slaton.

Okam has 1st or 2nd round talent & we got him in the 5th round.

If someone can keep the kid motivated then we got ourselves a REAL steal.

I will take Chris Myers. A guy projected to start at center, who is already familiar with the scheme, technicallly he's a 6th round pick.

True. After his sophomore season, people were saying he was first round talent---maybe even top 10 talent. I think he will benefit a great deal from our coaches and will become a cornerstone of our D-line. Great pick in the 5th.

wrong thread to ask but what caused the drop off? You could answer in his thread that way it does not hijack here.

As far as true overall value, I would say Adibi now I am not I know a lot about him or even about how hips move and can swivel, but from reading everything that has been said if this guys can learn and a steep curve than we just got a starter in round 4. How can you not love that.

I think Adibi is great.

But if Okam becomes the player that he CAN be, then he is THE steal of the draft.

I agree with Okam . I think that with his talent and getting to play with a young group of talented DL will push him to fullfill that potential . Jethro yelling at him won't hurt either .

Hmmm, who was that undersized chase LB Tamapa Bay chose many moons ago and everyone laughed...oh yeah, Derrick Brooks. the difference betqeen Adibi and Rivers, you know for a fact Adibi can flip his hips and run with a WR.

I'll take Duane Brown. here's why...Salaam goes down the position effects two players. The QB, and the poor smuck who is forced to start there who may or may not have the tallent to man the island on the left. The potential is there to loose three players instead of one. Eric winston is making fine progress on the right. Be a shame to lose the guy mentally.

Once upon a time the little DT had an elite first step. He went to to many Austin burrito bars and lost it. If we get him back and he finds the elite first step once agian, we got a first round tallet for a fifth round price. Big "If "though. I believe they need an extra DT to face the final eight rushing attacks down the strech. There is a spot open for someone. whether or not that is Fats Okam, we'll see. if I had forty million bucks on the line I'd be working my butt of that's for sure.

it could be any of them cause as of right now nobody had done anything. you could make a case for anyone of them, but I think they'll take varying degrees of time to develop out, just look @ Bennett last year he started producing about half way through the season, so I would expect the same from Molden. DT position takes a couple years so Okam will take time but that doens't mean he can't become a starter in a couple years. same thing with Brown, given our injury history on the OL it seems most likely he would be forced to play earlier than the rest. from what I've seen of Adibi he is going to real hard to get off the field, if I had to choose one immediate impact player it would be him, dude is a beast, other than technique he has similar abilties to Jarod Mayo & he was the 10th overall pick :)

I think Molden, given his upside, is the best value. I saw someplace where the NFLNetworks Moyer said he was bascially DRC without a Senior Bowl invitation.
But I think the biggest sleeper is Okam. He probably won't develope, but no big deal since its just a 5th round pick. But if he does Okoye will benefint which in turn will benefit Mario.
But I guess my favorite pick is the WV running back. Finally we've got a scat-back kinda player for the offense. Our own little Reggie Bush type player, but with much less wear and tear on the cap structure. And our offense needs tha kind of weapon, 'bout time. Just much more practical getting it with our second third round pick.
