Who needs a QB? How bout us!

Four years of David Carr should tell EVERYONE all they need to know. Look at other franchises that have taken on rookie quarterbacks. Four years is long enough to figure out whether you have a leader and a winner for a quarterback. Four years and still no leadership from that position. Four years and still no winning season. In the fourth year we get regression from that position. I know everyone's going to say it's the offensive line's fault. They're the reason David Carr hasn't been successful. Ask yourself this question: How many teams in the NFL would trade for David Carr right now and make him their starting quarterback? I know no one wants to start over... but sometimes it's the best option available. How many more years do you want this franchise to suffer? That's what you have to REALISTICALLY ask yourselves. Vince Young's going to be a star somewhere. He helps our offensive line problems with his legs and arm... but even if Vince isn't your choice, this franchise DESPERATELY needs a quarterback who can lead this team to a Super Bowl, one who knows how to command leadership in the huddle, on the field AND on the sidelines... and one who knows how to find ways to help his team win... someone who, instead of complaining and making excuses, will take responsibility for his team's failures even when they're not necessarily his. That is what a TRUE leader and winner does. He personally holds himself accountable for his team's performance. Players will bust their tails for a guy like that. All the Longhorn players said they knew they were going to win the Rose Bowl. They knew Vince would find a way. That's what they believed and they were willing to do whatever it took to help Vince make that happen. I think you also need to look at lack of productivity at the GM position as well. A new team's fourth season should be the turning point. If you haven't had success by then, meaning making the playoffs with a legitimate chance of going to the Super Bowl, it's time to make a change. I believe in the four year rule with coaches, GM's and players. Produce or say goodbye. I'm desperately afraid of seeing the Texans wind up as a below average NFL team for the fifth straight season. Everyone else is out there making moves and making their teams better while we sit on our hands waiting for the 2006 Draft to take place. Why aren't we out there grabbing some top notch free agents to better our team with? Why aren't we our there looking for a trade or two that will instantly make our team better? Why? You have to show an honest commitment to making your franchise a winner. I hope ownership and management read this.

I am getting tired of all of these vince young rants that cant even be broken up into paragraph form. So, to address a few of your questions:
You would have us make moves in free agency just to make moves? Even realizing that as the laughingstock of the nfl, most players arent jumping over fences to play here?

2) You think ownership and management care about you? Really? They were dead set on taking reggie bush, but you know, that guy on the texans message board really talked some sense into them! Its vince all the way baby!

3) I like Vince Young as much as the next guy, and i hope against hope we get him. However, reality is a mofo, and it has hit me. My advice to you would just be to sit back, wait, and after its all said and done be able to say "i told you so"...then maybe the next time you have an opinion, people will be more open to listening...but right now, nobody cares what us vince young backers think. he is probably the only prospect that has been out and out discounted by the board.

200+ sacks in 4 years is all I need to know. Give Kubiak the respect to try and make a QB out of Carr who HE LIKESand quit pimping Vince (wonderlich) Young around this board.:brickwall

Basically, it's not going to happen so quit wasting your breath and bandwidth.

Another teasip that can't write with an agenda. Ever heard of a paragraph?

Wake me when there is something new out of any of these teasips.

How long should we wait for David Carr to play to his potential? I didn't like that the Texans used thier first pick on DC and I, like much of H-town, is ready to move on. I really do hope that all of these negatives vibes help motivate DC this year, but i just can't see him being the guy to lead us to the playoffs, but i hope i'm wrong.

p.s. this is a message board not an essay contest, so go ahead and use fragments and don't use paragraphs.:spy:

It's called an O-Line which we dont have.:brickwall

Guy on the radio just said Carr is better than at least 15 starting QBs in the leaugue. Funny how all the naysayers are sitting on their recliner eating cheetos.

In other words, those who are in and around football as a business tend to think DC is good, those that wish they knew 1/2 as much as these guys think DC is the problem.

Can you tell me if even one of those 15 teams is legitimately interested in acquiring David Carr? I think with a possibility still looming of the Texans drafting Young that those teams would be inquiring about a possible trade, don't you? Hmm... Charley, has anyone called you? Nope. Didn't think so.

There is zero possibility of the Texans drafting Young and there never has been. All of this talk from the front office that they are looking at all options between Young and Bush was to appease the fanatic Longhorn fans who were completely irrational after the Rose Bowl.

The hype has died down and now the team will continue on the path that they were set to take before the Rose Bowl, taking Reggie Bush.

If you listen to what Casserly has been saying (filling needs in FA, taking BPA in draft), what Kubiak has been saying (DD will be better with the addition of another quality back), what the interview process was (breaking down Reggie Bush game film), Kubiak's scheme of a run heavy offense, signing Weaver to a big contract, etc. You can see that we are staying at #1 unless we get a Godfather trade and taking Reggie Bush.

Have you seen the current free agent acquisitions? Guess not, my friend. There are some outstanding free agents out there... and as far as choosing to play in Houston... it's all about the money, baby! You pay, they'll come!

Let's see... we not only have Davis but Morency, Wells and Hollins. How many do we need at that position? How many can play that position at one time? With an improved offensive line Davis and Morency can be a more than adequate one two punch. Why take another back when there are many other needs to address.

Hollings has been cut and Wells most likely will not be re-signed because he is a UFA. That leaves 2 RBs on the roster, 1 who has experience.

Most of the top FAs have been signed.........except for Arrington, TO, Meshawn (not really top shelf) Johnson. Cleveland, Titans, Redskins, and maybe Giants,Saints.

Cleveland: had a ton of cap space...Paid big bucks for Bentley and Schaffer,Jurevicus, and Patriot OLB
McGinest
Titans: Givens, good pick, overpaid for him,though....Mawae, Ok..getting old....Hope....good p/u how much money? stillneed to do something with McNair.

Washington: Snyder's team will always overextend their cap space

Giants : help out their secondary

Saints: sign Brees.... What's next? desperate to trade down....owner not exactly big spender....after last year's unfortunate season, their revenues are down

We didn't as much cap space to spend on FA....12.5 mill.
I'll be happy if we get Putzier and Flanagan.

no friend.......i missed all of our offseason while i was out playing madden. Name free agents arent always the way to go bro. We got a pass catching fullback, a good DE, and a #2 qb with no rust...granted, less than 140 career passes, but still, no rust. Relax bro.....whats gonna happen will happen

Greetings DynoMoxie....

First and Foremost, I openly applaud the STRENGTH OF YOUR CONVICTIONS!

For whatever reason or another, this seems to be the key ingredient that is continously missing from so many of our GREAT PALS that patronize this great website.......

Somehow, I often get the sense that the ESPN/FOX NETWORK is more involved within their mindsets than they may care to admit.......for although I for one will never hesitate in granting our colleagues the utmost in respect to whatever their opinions may be......... but very often times, it just seems as though I am hearing constant echoes from the multitudes of national media outlets throughout.......instead of hearing what I feel is clearly within their hearts........

YOU SEEM TO REALLY KNOW VINCE...... for your articulated accolades ring TRUER THAN TRUE.......

All anyone has to do is just watch a game of him at the helm.........listen to his teamates.........sense the pride of his coaches........feel the pulse of the community........and you will just know that everyone involved, will eventually come forth a winner......

I SALUTE YOU DM! Continue to stand by your convictions regarding the VY. Respect the opinions of the naysayers......for they are indeed our pals when all is through.......

HOPE TO SEE YOU UPON DRAFT DAY 2006......
MONARCH

Im just going to start off by saying WOW. I realy wish some of our newcomers would search other threads to find a thread about the topic they want to talk about. Also so they can realize what kind of reaction they are going to get from the other posters.

There was a time about a month or two ago that I actualy wanted the Texans to get VY. But now it absolutely angers me when I think about how many so called fans would just drop the Texans because of one stupid QB. I dont have a problem following certain players throughout there career. But deciding to not like a team because they passed on a player that you wanted is just stupid.

They didn't lose all of those games on purpose for nothing.
They're gonna stick to the plan.
But losing on purpose will make them (continued) losers in the long run.
Kinda like your Mom (or gaurdian or whoever) used to say, "If you keep making that ugly face it'll look like that when you get older".

While we're on the topic of time limits, YOUR about 2 months too LATE.

Monarch is at least funny.

Dyno's train of thought crashed before it left the station. I won't bother to address it.

Wells FA

DD how many games he miss?

Morrency how many drops out of the backfield?

Who's the #2 Wr?

6 or 16?

Here's my question. Every time I turn around, I've seen Vince dropping in the draft standings. IF he drops far enough, should we take him in the second round?

I got to say I didnt read it. I did however glance through it to see how long it would take before he mentioned VY. These threads are getting old.....:brickwall

Or maybe, just maybe, the other 15 teams got hints that there is NO POSSIBILITY the Texans are thinking about drafting VY.

Hollings was rightfully cut and as of now Jonathan Wells is a free agent, and I'm not sure that he returns here. I would prefer to take a guy like Mario Williams over Reggie Bush, but I do see how Reggie Bush could add an interesting dynamic to our offense and would be worth the pick.
