Who are our Special Teams standouts?

I seem to remember seeing Wells around the ball quite a bit on special teams, but he's gone. I know Evans is a good special teamer. Who else will be good in coverage and do we have anyone who can block kicks? I hear Walter is good. Any thoughts?

I really wish training camp would start so we could have things to talk about.

I would think if Babin wins the starting spot on the D-line, Peek would be utilized on ST. He used to be one bad dude on special teams. Although losing his starting spot (if he does) might defuse him. Let's hope not.

If he makes the team, Ramon Walker was a special teams stand-out--he blocked both a kick and punt against NE (and added 4 special teams tackles that day)--of course he blew his knee out the next week.

IMO, Rivers was our best special teams player last season. He was always around the ball.

This season, I'm going with McKenzie as our best special teams guy.

Moran Norris and Jonathan Wells were pretty solid on both kickoff coverage and returns, as was Marcellus Rivers, but they are all gone. As for this year, there are a ton of LBs on our roster right now that will all probably see some time if they aren't starting on defense, along with a good number of DBs, TEs, and WRs. It just depends on who makes the final roster and who among those won't be getting significant playing time or maybe even some regulars on offense and defense. Too early to tell.

PERSONNEL ANALYSIS: Coverage units on special teams will undergo a major change this season. In the past, the Texans had special teams specialists. The Texans will still have a handful of players that make their biggest impact on special teams, but no one will make the team solely based on that. Coach Gary Kubiak wants the best players on the field all the time, which is why CB Dunta Robinson will return kickoffs at times, and a slew of other starters will be considered for blocking, etc. . . .
