As a SoCal exan fan, I do not get to see very many, if any games. But I am curious- where is all the Defensive pressure? It seems that the only ones who can get to the QB are Wong and Dunta. What is going on?

despite reports of his demise the Texans sorely missed Babin. Peek is a total bonehead & took himself out of the game that left our front three who have to struggle through double teams to apply pressure & many times they moved the pocket but you need that LB or CB to blitz from different angles to pressure the QB (in this case Palmer).
frankly I'm all for ditching the 3-4 we just don't have the playmakers to make it happen!

We have NEVER been able to pressure the QB. I specifically watch for it every game and am amazed how little push our guys get. I would love to know why?
We need a guy like Freeney on our team.

the pass rush still is not what is needed but it was not horrible yesterday. They got two sacks and peek and orr did put some pressure on carson. Peek nearly caused an INT when he grabbed Palmers arm, and orr got a good chase in there. The problem is they still only rush 4 guys. Thats why the pressure sucks. You cant beat 5 or 6 blockers very well with only 4 rushers.

Ask Casserly, he's the one that built this team or rather should take the heat for the players on it.
The problem is we're playing a Cover-2 like defense disguised as a 3-4. We're reading and reacting instead of attacking.
And when we're rushing four or five, we're taking them head on. I hardly see any stunts, delayed blitzes, etc. by our front seven. Also, our safeties never line-up at the LOS to blitz, stop the run, and confuse QBs.

I think we have the players to make it work. IMO, it's the coaches who are holding them back. We've got run stuffers on our DL, fast athletic LBs who can shoot the gaps and cover, corners who can run w/ any WR, a SS who's a tackling machine, and a FS who can cover any receiver.

The Bengals had to shift their left guard to center and start a second string lineman due to injuries to their centers. Whether it was the scheme or lack of physical talent, they didn't do a good job. Credit the Bengals backfield. They did a good job picking up the pass rush from the RB's and TE's.

freeney would be completely nullified in our scheme. in most every other defense played, you've got 3-5 guys rushing, and they know before the snap what their assignment is. we simply do not. as it's being said across the board, we have a read & react defense that's too complicated for the personnel. the olb's wait to see what the rb/fb does, if they hang back or hit the other side, then they blitz ... and blitz wide every time. plus we very rarely blitz the ilb's.
