What's the word on Terrence Cody this season?

The guy's massive (380 lbs) and can move extremely well for his size. What kind of drafts grades is this guy getting? I think he's the perfect compliment to Amobi.

Scouts Inc gave him a 94

Mind you its against WKU, but its still 3 D-1 players he pushes to the ground

Again WKU, but just blows the blocker to the gorund

Practice, shows his quickness

Again, jeez I feel sorry for WKU, making a play from the left hash to the right SL

And....as a FB as if we needed to see more

I WOULD LOVE TO GET THIS GUY IN THE FIRST ROUND......BEAST~!:kingkong:

i like the guy & what he'd potentially bring to the d-line but he'd be 1 cheeto away from eating himself out of playing shape & thus out of the league every year.....

I don't know about spending a 1st rounder on him, especially if there's a ball hawk safety or other player that plays a position of need still available.

I don't know. I understand your logic, but all of the best DT in the league, especially the big ones, were drafted in the early-mid first; Haynesworth at 15, John Henderson at 9, Marcus Stroud at 13, Haloti Ngata at 12.

Obviously Okoye has been a disappointment, but that doesn't preclude Cody from being Stroud-esque.

Taking a Safety is a luxury this team simply can not afford. There are just too many holes in premium positions .... DT , DE , RG , C , OLB , CB and quite possibly QB as I dont see Rosencoptor sticking around much longer , believe he has one more year on his contract but that dont mean much in the NFL. And Schaub cant seem to stay healthy.

If Cody declares for the draft and is available when the Texans pick , he's my top priority as of now. followed closely by Michael Johnson of Georgia Tech.

Please say no to Michael Johnson. I smell bust. He has all the tools but no heart and nothing between the ears.

Orakpo, Hardy, or Brown would fill in at DE for us nicely, I think.

At this point, I don't think that safety is a luxury pick. Its become quite obvious that our CB's need help back there.

Now, I don't think it should be our first priority, but if we did happen to trade back into the late first, I would think those guys would be high on our board.

I think Terrance Cody needs to stay in school at least one more year. He's big and has potential but anther year of play sure wouldn't hurt him and would really help his draft postition. This is his first year of Division 1 football, he transferred from Juco so another year of SEC football would do him alot of good. Mrtex is right, he's a Bigmac away from being a bust as a 1st round pick. He needs to drop some more weight and get in better condition. As for Michael Johnson, right now he's all physical numbers and potential with very little production. If you've seen him play then you'll know that he gets pushed out of the way easily on running plays coming at him and doesn't pursue the RB when the play goes away from him. On pass plays sometimes he'll pin his ears back and really go for the QB but then he'll take the next 5-6 plays off and just go through the motions. Bah007 is right, all the tools and no heart or effort. He'll go high in the draft because someone like Al Davis will fall in love with his combine numbers but he's got very little production. Now if someone can find a way to motivate him, look out, he'll be awsome.

Cody had to get down to 360 before the first game of the season, per Saben. I use the word "down" lightly here.

Right now, he is a top 20 pick. I wouldn't mind Cody in the first and then a Alonso Smith, CB, WF in the second.

The CB's need help because they are left on an island for far too long .... the best way to improve secondary play is to improve the pass rush.

Being a UT Homer .... I like Orakpo .... just dont see him having the same success at the NFL level.

That guy is HUGE!!! I think whoever gets him probably makes him keep his weight under control but jeez, next to mario and okam we would have the biggest D-Line to ever exist!

The bolded goes both ways though...but i disagree anyhow.

We've needed safeties since our inception. It's arguably the most important position on the defense & if we continue to shore it up with journeyman & late draft draft picks, we'll always be a 2nd rate defense. The position has been neglected for far too long.

& i don't think our d-line is in as terrible shape as some believe. sure we haven't gotten the results that we've wanted, but we've shown the ability to stop the run & get after the passer at times this year which is more than what i can say for our secondary & its ability to stop even the most mediocore teams from passing & hitting big plays on us. In addition, At least we've got Mario. Bulman has shown flashes as his playing time has increased & Okoye, although teetering around that b-word - is still very very young like the rest of our D-line. get rid of weaver & johnson & get a nice FA ( J. Peppers, W. Smith or even T. harris) & our d-line doesn't look so bad. We've also got Okam who's a load himself & can potentially be that plug that we all want if we can find a way to keep his motor going.

In the secondary we've got no starting caliber safeties & maybe 1 capable Cb out of 5 total. That number could go up depending on what they do with Richard Smith & how dunta progresses & what Molden looks like.

I say

FS/LB 1st
FS/LB (whichever we don't get in the 1st)...if none worthy then go RB 2nd
DL/RB 3rd.
