I think that him saying that Robinson was on his board ahead of Hall is just scout speak after he ended up with Robinson. Hall is the better player and the Falcons knew that. Hall can even return kicks for their team if he is not a starter. I hate it when all this "we got the man we wanted all along" speak comes out after the draft. Do they want to make our pick feel wanted to something super special?

.....................................................................................................

i was just sifting through old posts on the board and happened to see this one and thought it was funny how we talk down on the front office after they make a pick. And it just goes to show that usually we dont know what we're talking about. I took out the name who wrote it dont try to rub this stuff in other peoples face.

So do we still think Hall is actually the better player of the two ????

if you look at just stats, then obviously not. dunta had dominating stats, but then you look at Hall, and you have to remember, he was injured for half of the season, so i dont think there is really a fair way to look at it in response to stats, and i dont know to much about Hall's leadership or enthusiasim to compare it to what Dunta did for the Texans

well maybe ya could say if we had gotten hall he would of been injuried as well. And an injuried player doesnt do his team much good on the sidelines, and D-Rob stayed healthey the whole season for us, and was alot more productive !

yeah but thats a what if, cuz the other side of the coin is that Hall might not have gotten injured had he not played for the Falcons, and never was involved in the play that injured him... if Hall had been picked by say the Texans, then everything Hall would do would be totally different, and may never have been injured... if both stay healthy next year, then it can be a fair comparison, which i believe Dunta will still be better then Hall

ok ok all of the what ifs aside,,,hall was injuried this season, and regardless of the WHAT IFs he wasnt injuried, D-Rob had a better season that was injury free and was in the hunt for D-Roy at the end of the season ! So i think it is fair to say as far as last year goes D-Rob was the more productive of the two !!!!!

there is no doubt that Dunta had a better year, but you did not ask that, you said who is better... i love Dunta, but its hard to examine who is better when they both did not play an entire year... thats all... and you did start the whole what if thing..."well maybe ya could say if we had gotten hall he would of been injuried as well"

haha your right i did mess the whole thread up,,, my only point was how some of the people were dissapointed we got robinson instead of hall, and how on the post i found he was making fun of the front office. Its just fun to go back and see what people were saying before, and see what the same people have to say now !

I didn't even know who Dunta Robinson was before the draft!!! So when we started hearing that he was gonna be our guy a week or so before the draft, I didn't know what to think really. There was a lot of talk that we should trade up for Sean Taylor or draft Hall instead of Robinson. In the end I'm glad the way things worked out for us with Dunta. As for Hall he was injured most of the season so we don't know how good he really is.

oh definatly, you get band wagon jumpers all over the place, i am not ashamed of the fact that i was looking for Sean Taylor to drop, but knowing he was not going to, i wanted DROB, and was excited to have him... i personally think with 20/20 hindsight, we got the best pick in the draft (i know about Ben, but i think Dunta had a bigger impact, all Ben had to do was not turn the ball over), Eli will be a good quarterback, but wasnt an instant success, Rivers didnt play, Gallery was decent for the Raiders, Taylor was a joke, no work ethic, plus law problems, hall was hurt, Roy Williams had a good year, so did Fitz for the Cardinals, but i just think DROB impacted the team more then any other rookie did for his team, IMO

Well, I'll admit my board for the #10 pick went:

Sean Taylor
DeAngelo Hall
Dunta Robinson

... trade down, because there's no one else we should take at #10. I suppose I'm somewhat validated by the fact that this would have had me picking D-Rob on draft day, but I certainly believed the other two would be even more impactful.

Well you cant argue with results.. and even though we didnt see Hall play and cant really compare. I have a hard time beleiving that both Dunta AND Hall were capable of having DROY seasons. Two CBs with that kind of ability in the same draft? may not be unheard of but I dunno how likely it is.

Anywho.. Given the choice between Hall and Dunta... id choose Dunta every time. Same with Dunta and Taylor... I honestly think that we got a steal at #10.

I had no opinion on Dunta before we drafted him.. or even after we drafted him.. cause I knew nothing about him.

looks like we got a steal out of D-Rob, G-Earl, and D. Davis. Cant complain about that, i guess the front office sees the things we dont see ! And they do seem to make good choices even if they dont seem so good to us at first !

I thought we should have used #10 in last years Draft on NT Vince Wilfork. We still need a NT to backup Payne, maybe even two. However, saying that, I am happy that we got Dunta. I hope we take NT Castillo with our 2nd round pick this year because that is where he seems to be slotted. I don't have the faintest idea who will be our first round pick this year. Wouldn't surprise me if we traded down a few spaces and got an additional pick.

:howdy: Dunta is a Texan type player . Hall brings more style . He will not support the run or blitz like Dunta . That was Robinson's rep . A hitter .

you really dont wanna mess with the Texans in the 1st round:

Houston David Carr Detroit Joey Harrington (Harrington misses 6 games rookie year due to heart issue)

Houston Andre Johnson Detroit Charlie Rogers (2 seperated shoulders in 2 seasons)

Houston Dunta Robinson Atlanta Deangelo Hall (missed half season with injury)

Teams looking at the same position we are better watch out.

forget the madden curse

I remember everyone on here pre-draft talking about how much better Hall was because he and Dunta posted similar 40s, but Hall had better hips and could return kicks...

Didn't Hall break one of his hips this year?
