What would it take for capers and casserly to not get fired?

Probably a strong sweep of the remaining games would bring them back for another season. I don't mind admitting that I hope that doesn't happen. I'd rather watch six more losses and know Capers and his staff (with one or two exceptions) were out of here than see six wins and know he was coming back.
This is about the bigger picture. Winning a bunch of games against bad teams wouldn't mean much to me at this point. I want this team put on the right track and the results we've been seeing after four years clearly show that we've been on the wrong track for some time.

I don't think most of the ticket holding public has such strong feelings about the GM. I am of two minds about Casserly. I think he is very cap focused and tries to keep the big picture in mind, but it is my understanding that the assistant coaches have a big say on who they get and get rid of. (Why is it that no one on the message board cracks Hoke about PBuch? I am not sure that he is responsible for pushing to get him but not having actual knowledge of stuff doesn't seem to stop people from cracking various coaches and players).
We have had good draft picks, and not so much so and some that are too early to tell. We've got rid of some good players and not so good players. Some of those players have done well in other places, but it is hard to tell how much of that is getting to play on better teams. We've had good luck and bad luck. All GMs have busts and finds, and I am not sure at this point what I think on Casserly. (It would be nice to see comments about this subject that were fairly fact based and not just hyperbole, generalizations, speculation, etc.)
I think if Mr. McNair can get someone who is better, or if giving the GM duties to a great coach is the only way to snag the coach, then Casserly will get better dealed. If not, he stays.
I want to see some wins against some bad teams because 1. it is entertaining; 2. it might show a higher level of talent exists on this team than is demonstrated by the record. Even some of the better Texans players have been looking nongood this year. So maybe some good play and some wins might give us some hope for future years.
You can learn from losses but right now they need to learn by winning. No matter how many holes we have on this team, the majority of these guys will be back next year--so it would be nice to some more consistent play.

I know everyone is thinking in the hypothetical, but i happen to know a member of the Teans organization, and he was told in very clear terms if they didnt make the playoffs THIS YEAR then everyone, from the head coach to the coordinators to the scouting department were all fired

There is no synergy between the team and the coaches on Sundays. The staff is gone. Casserly should be gone as well, but give him kudos for we have the ability to go out and sign some FA's next year due to our cap position. If Cass comes back expect Carr to be here. Cass and Carr are inextricably linked and they may each get one more year (Carr 1+1) after a staff shake up.

think failing to be a playoff contender is the key problem: its how the team
played the first month or so of the season when they simply weren't competitive. Fans were discussted. Except for the Cinci game, we really wern't in a game in the 4th quarter until the Clevland win. And the humiliation of 2 lopsided losses on national TV - icing on the cake for a total failure by Capers.
I honestly hope that we see a regime change, but I'm not going to be surprised if Mr. McNair keeps Coach Capers & Co. around for another season.

Keep Marciano (if possible). Everyone else needs to go. I'm not as determined about this one, but I think we need to get rid of Casserly even if Carr goes with him. We can't give Carr that 8 mill. anyway. Nobody really knows if he's worth it.
