What the **** is a Hail Mary anyway?

The last I heard, you're supposed to throw the football when you attempt a Hail Mary, right?

And don't get give me any of that garbage that he "didn't have the time " to get it off. He DID have the time.

I wish I could slap Carr upside the head. :hairpull:

:tomato: Two huge mistakes by Carr 1st he took a 15yd sack going from midfield back to our 35 in the second half . 2nd your first and foremost job on a hail Mary is get off a pass ... there is no excuse for that one , your looking for an area not a reciever

There is equally no excuse for the amount of pressure we were giving up against a prevent defense. There is plenty of blame to go around.

:tomato: I totally disagree on the last play Carr had time to throw for whatever reason he did not . Once again you 1st and only job is to throw it and hope for a miracle .

Who are you disagreeing with?

Your right he should have thrown the ball on the hail mary. But if he would have I bet everybody would have been mad because he made a bad throw or threw and interception.

There was 3 seconds left in the game. It's the final play.

A Hail Mary is exactly what it is . . . a Hail Mary. That's why it's called a Hail Mary. You drop back, throw it deep into an area or somewhere in the endzone, and hope your receivers can get into position to catch it on the fly, or from a tip.

Sounds pretty simple to me.

That last drive was absolutely horrible. It's just more proof that Capers is screwing up and needs to go. You have to throw deep on every pass when you have so little time- any high school coach could tell you that.

I think that David not being able o throw A hail mary was the best move for the franchise i mean david is doing the good thing for the city he knows we want the number one pick and david is the man for us to get that. he can help it if he blows

I bet nobody would get mad at a hail mary with no time on the clock. Just a hunch.

.

Carr made the passes, not Capers. DD was the outlet on these plays and Carr made the mistake by throwing to him.

Now that I've thought about it a little more, you're right that Carr was to blame, but I think it was only partly. I want to put the blame on the coach because Carr shouldn't even be looking at DD. Also, when I said Capers is screwing up, it was more in reference to the last few minutes of a game than anything else.

The option to DD should not even be in the playbook at this time in the game.

The overall problem with a Hail Mary for the Texans is this...
It's a pass down field!!! (An area of the playbook that the offense does not use.)

A hail mary is a term derived from Catholic faith that means pray to the Virgin Mary for a miracle from the Lord. The term hail mary comes from this and is a pass as far as your QB can throw the ball and pray for a miracle.

:texflag: Hey ... the Jets need a QB .

They wanted Ramsey. I heard they were offering Vilma for Volek.

I'd take Vilma and a 1-3 rounder for Carr for sure. I bet they don't have the cap room though.

And before all of you TU fans began the Young draft noise just stifle it now... Same for Matt Leinart.
At this point we don't need a rookie qb we need someone who can manage an offense and manage a team in the 2 minute drill.
More importantly we need a coaching staff who can TEACH the personnel we have to do just that!

People say it's the qb, running bac,wr, o-line....but the oc gets fired and the team has a chance later than 5 mins. after the game began. Have you seen the irish play since TD Charlie took the helm? Coaching is underrated. A good coach can make a mediocre team good....even great. I saw more effort and less confusion today than I've seen this year from the Texans. I'll wait another week before I jump on the whiners wagon.

good post.

For some strange reason and I think I heard this right Steve McKinney was the "player of the game" on 610's after game show. Can't figure that one out.

David is on par to get sacked more this year than he was the year they set the record.

Yea I guess so. Although I can't imagine anybody just stopping everything they're doing to listen to McKinney....I'm not saying he's boring but he's just not a high profile player so I don't get why he has his own radio show.

I hope I was just dreaming because I had the radio down kind of low but if you have your QB sacked 7 times and one of your O lineman is the "player of the game"...well that means that award is a joke.

Give it to the guy that scored the TD or the kicker or something.

Why is there an outlet guy if your not supposed to throw it to him? Leave him in to block or run downfield. ****** decision to throw it to him, but a sack is just as bad, if you leave DD in to block, you might have a chance to complete downfield. Anyway, you guys are complaning that we didnt go 80 yds in 55 sec with no timeouts... give me a break.

The one main thing i am concerned with offensivley is that we did not throw it deep once, hte whole game. We have a guy beeing doubled allthe time, someone is single covered! Either our guys cant beat single coverage, or the coaching staff dosnt trust Carr...

Oh, one more thing. On the first drive O'Neil tried to jump a route and get an interception, yet not once did we try to fake a short route and than go deep. IT seems we are not trying to take advantage of other teams weaknesses like they are of ours.
