What positions don't we need?

I thought we could discuss this and narrow down the list of players we don't need in the first rds.

WR- I think this is covered, true we don't have a true 2nd option yet, but Walters was always reliable and w/ Daniels also being a solid receiving threat I think receiver shouldn't be an option with our first 2 picks.

RB/FB- We got a solid RB situation now with the addition of Green, I don't doubt we'll take a RB later in the draft of sign an UFA, but with Green, Dayne, Lundy and Taylor in the backfield I just don't see the need for a pick in the backfield. Thought we matched Leach's offer sheet, not sure, but if we did FB shouldn't be considered either.

O-line- Tackle is the highest position usually taken, but where were at I just don't see Brown matching the value. Also with all the tackles on the roster, I don't think it is a pressing need. By the third I just don't see any upgrade over who we currently have.

QB- Yeah, I think we've already drafted that with three picks. I think I would be sick if we even considered a QB the draft.

So basically this brings me to defense. IMO where we should pick considering the defensive quality of this yrs. Class.

DE- This I think we have covered, I would like to see us pick up a passrush specialist in the later rds., but with Williams, Weaver and Babin I think we have a solid rotation.

LB- Man this position is locked up in the middle. I don't know about the outside though, could we pass up Willis if he were there, I would hate to, as he might provide the best value and help our defense immensely, but overall I could see us getting by without a new OLB this yr. We've already added a few, so I dunno.

Okay, having said all that, I think our weaknesses lie in the secondary and DT. JMO, but having said that who would best help our team? I like Okoye and Nelson, Landry as well, but not sure if he'll be there. Thoughts.

I would be happy with either of those three @ 10.

Would be cool if they pick up Nelson in the 10th spot.

But I wouldn't mind Landry, Okoye, or Jamaal Anderson.

as far as receiver, if they can pick up Jason Hill in the fourth, would be awesome.

Also, wouldn't mind Romance Taylor being picked up as well, but probably in the 6 or 7 round, if he makes it that far.

Landry or Nelson because we have spent way too much money on the DL over the years.

Nelson is the best value. He'll be 5-8 clicks below Landry in the first round,
and yet is more suited to play FS (or CB if needed), because he's better
in pass coverage, though not the smack-mouth hitter than Landry is reputed to be.

there isn't a position (Generally speaking) that doesn't need upgrading.

You can say what you want but AJ will continue to NOT get the ball so long as there is NO WR to compliment him opposite side. It also takes away from being able to use Daniels more in the middle of the field.

I dont want a WR with the first spot but it needs to be addressed.

O-line does as well. Its not a dominating line still and could use some upgrading.

Here is a comprehensive list of positions that I feel we don't need players or don't need an upgrade at.

QB: Now Schaub has been handed the reigns and we have competent backups.
FB: If the reports we matched the offer for Leach are true.

Hope that list hasn't overwhelmed you.

Starters I don't think we need to upgrade are as follows:
Schaub, Leach, AJ, Daniels, Pitts (controversial perhaps but he is our best lineman), Mario, DeMeco, Dunta.

Thats 8 of 22 positions that are sorted in my book.

i like your thought process if you are getting specific though i dont agree with your o-line critique. i think it needs help across the board unless spencer comes back healthy.

general speaking we still need help at WR and O-line.

On Defense we need help on the DL, LB, and DB. Yes the whole defense. We have a great foundation but we need A LOT of help there.

See, I think that if we add a FS and a CB, we are pretty much ready to go. We would still have some potential problems at WDE, DT (depending on TJ, Weaver and Maddox's development) and OLB if Barber and Clark dont play well, but we already in a better situation then last year.

Immediate need is FS and CB2 whether it is in the draft or scrubbing the cuts through June 1st. After that C, WR2 and DT.

We are set at OG, RT, OLB, QB, RB, FB, TE, WR1, CB1, CBnickel, DE, MLB and LS for this year.

Need to give stern eye in the draft for depth to LT, SS, P and K.
