What Number Should Reggie Wear?

Big78

Waterboy
I seem to remember this question getting brought up somewhere on the forum but it never really got officially adressed.

So. what should it be? Personally i am leaning toward something in the twenties b/c numbers in the 40's just seem like the belong to bigger backs or FBs. So that leaves the 20's and 30's. I heard the idea of taking #34 from morency to keep the tradition of great 34's going and that doesn't sound too bad. Then again we could go smaller and say 22 or 25. 22 for Emmit (my pick) or 25 b/c he wore 5 in college. There is also 35 and that would be acceptable as well.

The decision is yours.....well at least untill he actually decides....and even if we draft him....either way i want your opinions, so bring them on.

10.

I'd like him to pick a number that isn't very popular. That way it can be the next big number. Like when Jordan decided on 23.

He'll be #25. That's why they had to cut Hollings.

:tv: I think Bush would've bought 25 anyways. I think that'll be his number. The 30s numbers seem like they are for bigger backs, but that's just me.

I figure since WRs can take non 80s numbers, then running backs can too, and with the contract he's gonna get I don't think he'll have any qualms about coughing up the extra dough for #5. He's had it since highschool and wrecked in it ever since, why stop now? Besides, scat backs look better in small numbers...

21 would be cool like Tomlinson like THEFUTURE said. They are good friends but does anyone on our team have that number?

Extra dough for #5? Huh???

A WR can take 10-19 and 80-89 numbers. That is because there are many retired numbers.

I agree with you there. If he could wear 5 I would like to see him wear that.

I hope it's 21 cuz thats my favorite number. I would have to get rid of my carr jersey to buy one of reggies if he wears 21.

Hey Vinny, aren't all numbers in teens outside of the 80's?
If you are a WR you can wear a number in the 80's or a teen number. Pretty simple stuff.

He'd have the same # as Ladanian Tomlinson. That would be a good way to show honor to the person that helped him to elevate his game to the next level this past college season. Plus their running styles are very similar to each other soidonno:

He should try and get #5, been his number since HS. If he can't pull this off, 34 would be nice since all 34's in the history of Houston sports have been great players.

How would that work out?
I may not have this right but I think Keyshawn Johnson asked for an exemption when he wore 19 before the rule change (someone will chime in and correct this if not). Something similar may happen here is the implication. I'd like to see him in 5 as well since it will be pretty unique for Houston like the 34. Bagwell and Bush. They may have to list him as a WR to do it...donno.

21.... just like Tomlinson

EXACTLY what I was going to put. I saw a feature on Tomlinson and Bush having working out together in 2005 and they were comparing the two out of college. With LT playing in San Diego, and Bush from San Diego, they apparently became quick friends during these days of working out. Bush apparently admires LT and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he came out with #21!!!

As long as the jersey says TEXANS, I could care less about the rest.

:redtowel:

Who cares about this except for you people posting about this?

If the guy is all the hype he is suppossed to be, the number he wears will become cool even if it is 99 (which he isn't allowed to have but I am trying to make a point).

I'd love to see him keep #5. Unforutnately, this is the same league that fines players for having their socks 1 inch too low. I can't see them altering the rule of the jersey numbering system. 21 would be cool though. Like people have been saying, Tomlinson was 5 in college and is 21 in the nfl. Not a bad pattern to follow.

No, not at all. I am a Vince fan but it hasn't nothing to do with being a Texan fan and paying for my season tickets. Being a fan of both is not mutually exclusive for me.

Actually, I like seeing Vince going to another team as a good thing for me because I will now have two teams in the NFL to root for instead of just one.

Personally, I could care less if NBA players wear tights and what number Reggie Bush has, or any player for that matter.

Hopefully, that makes sense. It is of zero importance to me and just putting that thought out there.

Furthermore, the number becomes cool because of what the player does, not the other way around. So, what ever number he has, if he plays up the hype, I am sure it will be totally cool number and people will be excited about the jersey.

Since he is the next Gayle Sayers, he could wear 40, making that ugly number cool.

And this has nothing to do with the fact that was my high school number as HB/WB/KR  (of course, I had 1 career varsity TD) :superman:

hehe.

By definition, aren't ALL numbers in the teens outside of the 80's?

But in all seriousness, yeah, I think you meant to say that WRs can only wear numbers in the teens or in the 80s.

25
Like the idea of 34 but Bush will make his own history. We have enough great 34s.
5 would be best but won't happen. He's always worn it. We only have one great 5 and there's always room for more :killerbs:

If there was any prospect who could convince the NFL to give them an exemption and wear a different number it would be Reggie Bush.

But I don't think they will let him so I think...

21 (LT is his close friend and mentor)
28 (Reggie grew up watching Marshall Faulk at SDSU)
25 (If 5 is his number this is the lowest 5)

I would like him to wear 5 though. I really don't understand why the NFL has to say which numbers they can wear and which numbers they can't.

he means that if WRs don't wear 80s, they wear teens.

How bout #26 cause Reggie can make it his own. Then the next great running back can say he grew up watching #26 REGGIE BUSH. 26 is not that common. He can make it famous.:superman:

FYI Clinton Portis is #26.

24 and 27 aren't real common for RBs. As silly as it is to debate this issue, I would guess 25 since it is the lowest possible number with a 5 in it and 5x5 = 25.
