What kind of DB talent should be available in the 2nd Round

I don't pretend to know what The Texans FO is thinking.

I try not to make predictions based on need because it only leads to disappointment and frustration.

I do think we will address the FS/SS position either through draft or FA with the release of Bernard Pollard and Eugene Wilson.

My gut tells me we are going to move Quin to FS.

My gut also tells me we are going to let Nolan start at SS and have depth with Dominque Barber which tells me we aren't going to view that as a need for the 1st round.

I also feel the Texans are going to tell us that they made their decision on a first round pick based on what improves the team vs. reaching for need (we hear that every year so again this aint a prediction)

Lastly, I'm on the "If Julio Jones falls to us we gotta take him" wagon.

With that in mind and acting as if there is no FA period before the draft (most likely not if not already), and we draft Julio Jones, I will then like to shift my attention to DBs. Who would be there at our pick in the 2nd round?

Hopefully they sign a good vet CB and draft a CB within the 1st 3 rds. Some of these CB's could be available (A.Williams, Burton, My favorite House.)

All of the S should be available in rds 2/3 (McDaniel,Moore,Carter,Sash,My favorite Lefeged.)

Hope this helps.

I just hope the Texans fix the perpetually broken secondary, once and for all. Quin probably will be the best S the Texans have ever had. That tells you how bad the S position has been since the Texans inception.

After last year's kiddie corner debacle, I'm really hoping that we go FA to fix our secondary. I'd prefer that we get some veteran guys back there.

I want us to pick up at least veteran CB as a starter and then let GQ, KJ, Brice, and McMannis fight it out for the other CB spot. If those guys aren't good enough, then another vet CB. I don't really want to draft another high round CB unless we trade up and pick up Peterson OR if Brandon Harris drops to us in the 2nd (neither of those scenarios are likely to happen). There are, however, some later round guys who could be really interesting pickups like House and Skrine but I'd prefer those guys start off as depth players and not be forced to play them early on.

If GQ can shift over and play FS, I'm fine with that... if not, I wouldn't mind grabbing a FS in the draft probably Deunta Williams in the 3rd or 4th or even Quinton Carter in the 2nd or 3rd.

I'd like us to go after one of the FA SSs (Manning, Mikell, Landry, or at least, Sensabaugh). With that said, I wouldn't mind us drafting Tyler Sash, Aaron Williams, or take a late round flyer pick on Shiloh Keo.

What about Aaron Williams from Texas? Is he really projected as a first rounder?

Considering the teams in front of us need help at corner, I can't see him slipping to our selection in the 2nd round.

I have no idea where the "next" bunch of guys are rated to go: Burton from Utah, Marsh from Utah St., Brown from Texas, Dowling from Virginia, Gilchrist from Clemson.

2nd round may be a spot for a Safety. Moore, Carter, McDaniel, Sands, Sash, Jarrett.

Here is what I have right now:

Patrick Peterson - Top 5
Prince Amukamara - Top 15
Brandon Harris - 1st Round
Jimmy Smith - 1st Round
Aaron Williams - Late 1st/Early 2nd
Davon House - 2nd Round
Curtis Brown - 2nd Round
Johnny Patrick - 2nd Round
Ras-I Dowling - Late 2nd/Early 3rd
Brandon Burton - 3rd Round
Kendric Burney - 3rd Round
Marcus Gilchrist - 3rd Round
Curtis Marsh - Late 3rd/Early 4th

I've got a much longer list than that. But those are the only guys I see with a chance of getting taken in the first three rounds.

Ras-I Dowling - Late 2nd/Early 3rd
Dowling would be the guy to target in the 2nd round. Had he not had injuries last season, he would be challenging Amuckamara for the 2nd CB taken. Dowling reminds me of the Bucs Aqib Talib. Big, fast, with ball skills. He has much more talent than last year's 1st round pick, Kareem Jackson. Getting Dowling in the 2nd would almost make up for wasting a 1st round pick on Jackson.

I don't think there is a strong safety worth taking in the 2nd round. And the Texans won't take a FS that high, with the conversion of Glover Quin. So why not tender Pollard? Are they that worried he would sign the tender and they would be stuck with the contract? That didn't make sense to me.

All that you said right there may be the indication that we would get one in FA.

would go after Eric Weddle hard. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4223/eric-weddle
damn you CBA.
would be nothing short of a miracle for Aaron Williams to fall into the Texans lap 2nd rd. they would have to trade up or possibly if they traded down in the first?
who would you rather have-
a. Robert Quinn, OLB or
b. Ryan Kerrigan, OLB & Aaron Williams? :shades:

Robert Quinn. Elite talent vs. solid players. That's like asking, Mario Williams or Shawn Cody and Kareem Jackson.

yes I agree but in your comparison Texans did both. its a mixed bag. I would really like to know if Kubiak's job is really on the line this year if so, right or wrong, preservation is bound to creep in :mcnugget:

I would love to get CB Ras-I Dowling as I think he would be a good fit at CB for us as long as he can get healthy. I wish we could get him in the 3rd round. I think our 1rd pick comes down to either OLB Robert Quinn, OLB Aldon Smith, OLB Ryan Kerrigan and OLB Justin Houston.
