Just wondering, what is the drop off from the two safety's and the rest, say, Burnett n Co.

My FS rankings go as follows:
Immediate stars
1) Eric Berry
2) Earl Thomas
Immediate starters
3) Nate Allen
4) Morgan Burnett
Potential starters at some point during the season
5) Robert Johnson
6) Myron Lewis
Developmental players
7) Major Wright
8) Nick Polk
9) Terrell Skinner
10) Donovan Warren
Taylor Mays and Kam Chancellor are strong safeties, in my opinion, and are not on this list.
I would love it if Smithiak picked Owens in the 4th and then traded a 5th and a 6th to get back into the 4th and took one of Lewis,Johnson or Wright.

Casserly & Mayock had a pretty good chat about this on NFLn path to the draft last night. Mayock has Thomas slightly ahead of Berry. Basically both feel that Berry is the stronger tackler. their is a slight difference in their stance in who is the best cover man. the reason Mayock is giving the edge to Thomas is because Thomas has the better instincts and hips. But berry isn't exactly chopper liver in his coverag skills as he demonstrated his Junior year when he was playing back more and out of the box. Berry can blitz off the corner and be a destructive force at the LOS. The consensus is both players are plug and play type guys. 1A and 1B. And it's been awhile since the board has had two safetys this talented sitting at the top of it. there should be a rerun of the segment Saturday afternoon.
And I believe that Cris Cooke is still in the equation. If they don't draft a CB in the first round.
Too bad Thomas wont be there at 20.
He will be a difference maker for whoever drafts him.
I'm not buying Thomas in the top tenMy FS rankings go as follows:

I'm not buying Thomas in the top ten
just as I don't buy Haden in the top fifteen.
Any guy who gets beat 3 times in one game should have some question marks hanging. (Thomas against Tech, Haden against S. Car. - ironically, Haden was D-MVP of that game.)
OK they are young and have potential, but I won't be surprised if they drop to us at 20.
"I've probably watched 300-400 snaps apiece and in my opinion, Earl Thomas is the most instinctive free safety I've seen on tape in five or six years," said NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock. "He's a playmaker, he's got loose hips, and he's got the best range of any centerfielder I've seen coming out of college football in a long time."
Mayock should know. He played safety for Boston College and the New York Giants in the early 1980s after being drafted by the Steelers in the 10th round in 1981.
I personally believe since we're going off gut feelings here, that Earl Thomas was born to play next to Pollard. and if they gave up a two to go up and get him, I wouldn't have a problem with that.
I felt the same way about Aaron Curry last year. In hindsight Cushing was a stroke of genius but I agree with you, I would give up our two to move up and grab Thomas. What do you think is the highest pick we could get for our 1 and 2?
free country and all believe what you want.
