Are McDaniels (Offensive Quality Control Coach) and Saleh (Defensive Quality Control Coach) basically in-studies or back-ups? I see they used to be interns. Anybody know what this means?

powda said:my understanding had always been they were the guys who had lots to do with film...as in breaking down team tendencies etc...and then presenting that to coaches so that they could make a sound gameplan...+ as already mentioned lots of other dirty work.

Quality Control Coach: A quality control coach breaks down and analyzes tapes of an upcoming opponent, is involved in self-scouting (when a team studies its own tendencies, successes and failures) and is involved in several research projects. During the season, while most of the coaching staff is working on that week's opponent, the quality control coaches are studying the teams the Giants will play the following week or two. After studying many different cutups - down and distance, formations, all screen passes, etc., they prepare a report for the other coaches. In that sense, the quality control coaches start the process of scouting opponents. In the offseason, they study and analyze both the Giants and their opponents, breaking them down to literally hundreds of segments - runs on third-and three, shotgun passes, two tight end formations. That research tells the Giants where they - and their opponents - are both strong and weak, and where they need to focus their attention
