What if Texans choose...

I am continuously reading these threads and it seems they keep ending with..

1. Texans choose Young and Bush will go to another team and go to the playoffs for the next five years and Young is a bust.

2. Texans choose Bush and Young will go to another team (Titans) and go to the playoffs for the next five years.. while kicking us down to 3rd or 4th slot in our division.. and Bush is a 1000 yrd'er average back.

Imagine if we do decide to trade down and Young and Bush both go to playoffs every year giving us major pain in our sides each year stomping us into the ground every time we play them..

This is one tough decision to make. Whatever decision we do make hopefully our new coaching staff will make us a playoff contender so we can battle the what-ifs when they come.

If you think Vince Young will be a bust, you haven't been paying attention. He's a sure thing.

No such thing as a sure thing. Derrick Johnson was the "only sure thing in the draft" last year remember?

I don't think either will be a bust.. I guess I meant that what if their team doesn't improve, because of them or their teammates...

You know how they have the draft and people always boo when a selection is made..i.e. like when McNabb was selected by the Eagles.

That's what I expect when the Texans pick.

There will be Young fans there and Bush fans there. You can't please all.

I've never understood people that boo their team at the draft. I gotta' wonder if those Philly fans are man enough to admit it now after McNabb has taken them to four NFC Championship games in a row (plus a Superbowl appearance).

Personally, I'll support either the Bush or Young pick. Regardless of which player we pick, we'll be adding a dynamic [potential] playmaker to our offense, which is never a bad thing.

My true interests are beyond just the first pick of the draft, though. We've got so many holes to fill that I'm anxious to see what the front office makes a priority.

True dat... the first pick is only the icing.

You've got to hope, that the front office has a vision, of what they want this team to be. And it isn't just get a bunch of guys and a coach, and see what happens. Somebodies got to say "This is what our team should be!" and work towards making that happen. For instance, if we are going to be a tough blue collar team, then we need to sign Gubiak(or whatever Denver's OC is) then get some big studs for the offensive line..... year in, and year out. We should be an O-Line Factory picking linemen, and running backs year in, and year out. Teaching them all how to play the game, and keeping the best. If we're going to be the greatest show on turf, then we need versatillity at RB, and speed at WR.

We should pick accordingly. There are going to be alot of great players to come out of this class, that very well my burn us in the years to come. But we've got to play our game.

Nope - fans are usually only man enough to admit they were one of the few who weren't booing. Each and every one of them.

You don't ruin your relationship with the city if Young doesn't work out. Casual fans around the city and state will forgive McNair if he fails with Young. Not so with Bush. If Reggie is a bust and VY has ANY type of success, especially with Tennessee, this franchise will be forced to pick up and move. Houstonians will not tolerate such shenanigans.

True fans that care about the success of the team don't give a rip if Vince is from Houston, they want what is going to be the best for this team. I'd have a much bigger problem with McNair if he drafted Vince Young because 55% of the "fans" in the local market wanted him and he ends up failing than if McNair drafts Bush sincerely thinking that was the best decision for the team and he ended up not working out. As a personal aside, I think Young has a much higher chance than Bush of not becoming a super impact player, and I don't see him being able to really help a team until at least his third season in the NFL.

Look for VY to end up in NO. I was of the thought that NO would go for Matty, but in order to boost sales and marketability of that franchise I think they take YOung and hope he brings an impact like Vick. Either way like Mork has said VY wont be here. You guys can head to NO and watch him though or sport his jersey at sold out Texans games.

NFL teams will rise and fall and to not support your team because of certain missed draft picks seems a little drastic. These dramatic ideas are certain to arise because of the hometown boy but I think Houston would certainly forgive any messup if they can deal with a year like this past one. Do you really want to run a team out of town because they passed up on one guy because they thought it was best for the team?

These are all the same types of things we have put up with each draft season as some "Savior" "Can't miss" "Greatest in a generation" or what ever Dumb***** over inflated and flatulent statement they can come up with. Now some are even try a terrorist type of thing "Give us what we want or we will destroy you" "Believe as we believe or we will all turn against you" " don't give us what we want will boycott". Give me a freaken break. People with REAL NFL chops will make the evaluations and the desicions. Might be Bush, might be Young, might be trade down, but it will be made based on what THEY feel is the RIGHT thing to do. Not what a screaming, whing mob of GM wannabies think.

Good call, If, which I doubt, NO goes to San Antonio their will be a HUGE fan base with Young there.. I haven't follow NO much so I'm not sure what the situation is so this is merely an if..

here here. You can argue a point without threatening boo's, boycotts, and franchise relocation.

Well, I think that is what all the "whining" is about. Not too happy with the decisions they've made so far. Travis Johnson? Are you kidding me? Just hope they'll listen to reason for a change.
