What do you think?

Nice Doggie

What if Wand stabilizes the Left tackle position and since we are pretty much set as linebackers go with Wong's signing, who do u think we will go for in the 2006 Draft?

If Wand stabilizes the Left tackle position I think this is what our draft board would look like.
1. TE Marcedes Lewis, UCLA
2. DT Rod White, Texas
3. WR Derrick Hagan, Arizona St
4. LB Chad Greenway, Iowa
5. LB AJ Hawk, Ohio St

Well if the LT position is solid, better fix the center problem and Greg Eslinger would be that player.

I think we would all be overjoyed if Wand performs at that level, I think he is capable too so its not out of the question. so it really depends where we pick. if Wand does solidify the left side I see no reaon why the Texans can't make the playoffs. draft position somewhere around 20. I beleive the most pressing need will still be TE so a Marcedes Lewis, UCLA (if available) would be an excellent choice. there are several quality TE's, Casserly could also trade down a few spots, pick up another 3rd rounder and TE late first round such as Joe Newton, 6-7, 260, Oregon State, Matt Herian, 6-5, 240, Nebraska, Tim Day, 6-4, 270, Oregon would all be prime time prospects

I don't really see them going TE as the first pick, but it's possible. I see C, G, TE, and NT as some positions to zero in on if we aren't looking at a LT early. The nice thing about these positions, is they are all more fillable in the later rounds (excluding a premier LT) so that should give us a lot of options on draft day.

LT, C, and TE seem to be the most immediate needs. So even if we had to trade our two 3rds for that LT in the first, it would still give us a clear shot at a first day interior lineman or TE, just depending on whos available. I would feel better about looking at a TE on the second day than waiting on a C, but we'll see what FA brings and how Hodgdon progresses as a pro. Ideally, Weary's lightbulb would pop on and he would be playing C for us someday, but I wouldn't put money on it.

I understand your point Led, but a premier TE WOULD START NEXT YEAR! the other positions you mentioned all take time to develop such as LT (Seth Wand). Centers & Guards generally dont get drafted that high. Our LB'ers are now set for the long term. if no WR steps up into the #2 role thats a possibility but I feel that Armstrong, Gaffney, Bradford and Mathis offer enough punch along with AJ to forget about drafting another WR. Another young stud DT would be nice, but once people see just how effective Travis Johnson is the DT position should be hot once again. The Texans are set at CB and the safetys, not to mention special teams & kickers.

Through nobodys fault the TE position can be greatly advanced with the Texans first pick in the 2006 draft. But remember it all falls upon Seth Wand.
