What do we need??

Goldeagle

Veteran
Other than swtiching to the 4-3 (lol).

Offensive Line needs help
another CB would be nice

What do we need and who will feel those rolls.

From everything I saw this season we need.

1.) A pass rush: This is the biggest hole in the entire team. We put almost no pressure on the other teams passer. This could be fixed in many ways. DT, DE, LB.

2.) Pass Protection: This got better as the year went on so its hard to rip them like I want to. However, I will do it anyway. They at times are like a swinging door letting the pass-rush get to Carr.

3.) Stopping the run: Too much to go into as to why we aren't great at this. I just wish we could draft D.J. from UT. He could really fill more then one need.

Anyway, I know we have more needs then that. Like a good second option for Carr in the passing game, but I would much rather end up like the Ravens with a great Defense then be like the Chiefs in that every games final score looks like a basketball game.

Yeah O-line is big to me. When they dont have to blitz to get to Carr, we got problems. Definitly the front on either side of the ball.

Probably not the most pressing need on the team, but would a bruiser, change of pace type back be an idea? When he played, I thought Greg Jones was somewhat effective when the Texans played in JAX.

They also need to figure out how re-configure the LB's. Wong played out of his mind at OLB, but room needs to made for Peek. I'm sure this has already been mentioned/suggested, but Foreman might be the odd man out in the situation.

Cory Morrow also needs to sing the National Anthem before every official Battle Red Day from now on.

I think we really should emphasize on either of the lines and take the best available athlete at #13. Then address the secondary with our 2nd round pick. But you never know what CC has up his sleeve. A first round trade to bring Wright and Davis to Houston wouldn't surprise me. As for the linebacker situation, I too feel that Foreman will be the odd man out. I see Wong moving inside and Peek playing the OLB spot.

O line and D line I think are our 2 bigest needs. But we can forget anything being done to the D line unless Payne does not return and we replace him in the draft or though free agency, and other that that nothing will be done to the D line since Walker and Smith are both in the middle of big money contracts. The O line I cannot figure out exactly what I would do with that yet. I think though if we continue to run the zone blocking scheme, we will need a few quicker, younger, more athletic linemen.

I strongly agree with that right there. I dont think the big 300 lb lineman are the answer for us. I think we need more mobile lineman.

Yes, I dont know why we switched to the zone blocking scheme when we had Davis go for 1,000 yeards on a third of the season. That "if it is not broke, dont fix it."

Our O-line is broke, BAD! All the running David Carr is getting in will make him a shoe in for a 100m dash gold, or a gold medal in the marathon.

Did Gary Walker play this year??

I love Seth Payne but I dont think he will be back. I think with that, the D-Line will be taken in the first round. I possibly think from their on out will be the best man taken in the draft. Of course, God only knows what CC will take, anotehr TE or a QB out of the blue.

I am thinking they might get another free agent for the O-line.

Ive read a few posts and got a general idea of some rookies, but I am curious as to who you people think will be available at #13 and who would you take?

thanks
GE

1) A speedy end for the d line, to help with the pass rush. (Marcus Spears)

2) A big guard to push our starters and help McKinney in pass protection until a replacement is found. (Elton Brown, David Baas)

3) A safty who can hit as well as cover the slot reciever.

4) A center who can pass block, to replace McKinney when his contract is up.

I am new here and probably not as informed about all the players as you all might be but, I'm looking at what you guys think is the biggest need for the Texans and I see most of you all have center, gaurd, D-line, ILB, CB, and safety as the biggest needs. I really think it is LT, unless you guys think Wand is the answer, again I don't know, but watching the Colts game, both DE's were getting pressure in every play. I would like for the Texans to draft OT, NT, and ILB on the first day, unless someone we have rated as a top 5-10 prospect who isn't QB or RB is available.
