What did Randy Moss do?

Boxscore

Rookie
What did Randy Moss do that was so classless that Fox was sorry that they showed it. It was something that he did after his second TD catch.

He acted as if he pulled his pants down and mooned the Packer fans. They're just overreacting. Doesn't suprise me.

I just saw a replay of it. Classless, but what does anyone expect from Randy Moss. I didn't see any reason for Fox to make such a big deal about it.

I doubt if they showed a replay, you had to see it live (rubbed his hind loins on the goal post in a degrading fashion). I would suspend him for a game, I know that gives the Vikings zero chance but until the Coach (Tice) can pull in the reigns this type of lude, inexcusable behavior will contiue. Sorry Vikings fans but your team comes off like a bunch of thugs & I really like Dunta Culpepper too :thud:

Anyone else see when it was 17-0 and there was a shot of Moss on the sideline and he was giving it to the Packers fans? (I'm sure they were giving it to him too). It was easy to lip read. He pointed to the scoreboard in the background and said "look at the MF'n scoreboard!" Tonight's act was no big deal as far as I'm concerned. As far as Buck and the other's comments, Fox getting on the morals soapbox is a joke.

yeah if he did his career would really be over, whats your point

you need to grow up (16)

there is nothing funny about being disrespectfull or haven't you learned that in school yet

No you need to wake up and come out of whatever little whole it is you're living in. I've seen worse things on Sunday morning cartoons or on dance floors. Unless your goal is to make the world a better place you should shut your mouth.

Answer me this, who was worse Randy Moss or Jake Plummer?

Was Moss being childish? Hell yes. Are people over reacting? Yes.

Do you need to grow up, just like Moss, for bashing somebody about their age? Yes

very good points

Personally, I thought it was pretty funny. Just playing the game and having some fun with it.

If he would have done that in our house, yeah we would've been screaming our friggin heads off on it... but in the end (um... yeah) it's just all in fun.

By the way.. I don't wanna grow up.... just means I gotta be more p.c. :neener:

No, you were deleted because you are calling everyone names and using vulgar language.

If you want your posts to stand you won't call the other members names and you respect the fact that this is a family forum.

I've already told you we will not host race discussions here. I don't know why you keep re-posting this as a race issue.

What he is so mad at is the fact that another poster was allowed to post racial trash and when he tried to rebut this trash, he was PM'd about how he posted (and it was demeaning, you don't talk down to a 42 yr old man) and it didn't sit well with him. This other poster took on SEVERAL people on this issue but it was Doc who got it in the rear oriface.

He is not at all happy with Randy Moss or with some trash a certain poster was allowed to type on for THREE pages. He seldom posts and this topic fired him up. If you are so concerned about the family appeal of the board, then you needed to nip the original poster in the bud before it went on to this.

No I don't think it is a racial thing and PLEASE show me where I used vulgar language and called everyone names!!!!!!!!!!! All I did was call out another poster, who, (in my opinion) was a toatal racist. My objective is not to start a racial war, but, if someone else plays that card I am going to respond.

Did you see thirdeyebc32 using foul language in their earlier posts on the same thread??????????

Vinny said:
Why do you assume you were the only one PM'ed? You weren't. Follow the rules and you don't have a problem.

How is that? I didn't do anything but wipe all the posts with name calling and that were overtly racial. Again. why do you think you were the only one?

The first post was less than 4 hours ago. I wasn't here. Tell me, how do I wipe posts I don't yet see?

You really want to drag me into this rodeo Vinny? Not a wise idea.
I have no idea why you are sending me the PMs you are sending Doc. I am not his Mama.

I don't care who you PM'd. I tried to explain the situation and you call me out on the board now. This is funny. I wasn't going to jump on this ride but you had to drag me along so now you get to deal with me too. I have no idea why you want to, but it is your choice. Here I am. Cowboy up.

If you can't keep control of your posters, you may want to try finding another mod to help in your absence. Most other boards have more than 1 or 2 mods.

I never bent the rules. Why would you insinuate that I did? Good try, wrong answer. If you have a problem with Doc please do not bring it to me. I may sleep with him but he does have a brain of his own and uses it at will. I don't have to monitor his moves.

Now stop all this nonsense with me. Take it to Doc.

WOW, talk about overreacting. How many of y'all were this outraged over what Jake Plummer did?

Ok... Plummer was somthing different... He had just made a poor play and had people heckling him for it... He made a quick and emotional reaction. Poor decision.

Moss scored, sought out the goal to do his action. classless. Quite different.

Hmmmm La - Ouch

People.... cant we all just get along.

Sounds like emotions are getting into this. Sooo let me sum it up for everyone...

Moss and Plummer were bad boys.

Vinny is the mod and sometimes needs to make decisions (which he suppose to do and has to do, even if some of us might not agree)

I still need a million dollars

Some people might take things said the wrong way because this is typed and unless you are very clear, things can be taken the wrong way without the intent.

Pickles come in many shapes and sizes.

2005 will be the year we go to the playoffs

Steve McKinney lives in a different world then we do ("Top 10 offensive line").

And Dime is the best looking guy out of all of you...

I learned all I needed to know about Randy Moss a few weeks ago when he went to the locker room before the game was over because he was mad and his team was losing.

He's a great player but the guy has a pea sized brain. :loser

well i agree, moss has great ability but as a person he comes off as scum. but what he did yesterday to the fans i thought was funny and found nothing wrong with it. its his rivals home crowd you gotta show them up. it's not like he really pulled his pants off and mooned them. had it been favre doing the same in minny i bet everyone would be laughing and loving it. I agree with most of the posters, just an overreaction by fox.

Personally I am more P'd off at Dru Bennet than anything else. So Randy Just pulled a Bennet with his arse.

Randy Moss is the best WR in the league (and perhaps ever) but he makes some unwise decisions. He is immature in many ways. What surprises me is how shocked people get by his actions. It is the equivalent to being surprised when a gambling addict places a large bet and loses. What is the big surprise here?

He's always stirring the pot. He should be fined, nothing more, nothing less.

He got what he wanted - attention. Every sports message board around the country is buzzing about it. A fine is all he should get.

Did Plummer get fined?

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog :boxing:

I saw you here with him. I'm guilty of over-explaining. I tend to view you guys as a team, and I thought you wanted answers. My bad. I figured that if I was open and up front you guys would be appreciative. I was wrong, I'm sorry.

I'm not calling you out. I answered your post (c-above). I PM'ed you guys to show you why there were issues with the posts.....Just like I did with AndreJ. We have 13 of them. Take a look. ArlingtonTexan, Erratic Assassin, Fiddy, gwallaia, Hervoyel, LonghornBabe, Lucky, Mischief, Mistril48, SassyTexan, Khari, Vinny, infantrycak all help moderate this place. You honestly think that we do a poor job Moderating this message board? Perhaps I am alone in thinking this but I feel our Moderators do an outstanding job keeping this environment civil and family oriented. That's because we have a large group made up of our own fans working under the same set of criteria all working hard to keep this place decent for everyone. You don't see a bunch of trolls or many random posts where everyone is insulting everyone else and running off the decent folks.

It's also Sunday night. Most people are not on the board, and not everything gets attended to the instant it hits the board. There will be times where things sit here for hours that end up getting wiped out due to being unacceptable. There are also times when we read a post and it doesn't register as inflammatory but we delete it later after discussing it or re-assessing it. In addition to that, we are just going to miss some stuff from time to time (the board has nearly 70 thousand posts). Finally, we get to the problems as fast as possible. I don't know how we could be quicker or more efficient.

You see it your way, I see it mine. I don't need a laundry list of mods. If you feel your coverage is adequate, fine. You are the one all defensive over not being here and I just pointed out an obvious solution. I am not looking for a detailed explanation on how you run your board.

I didn't want any part of your little war with Doc. Guilt by association at work. Hopefully you two have this ironed out now. And I can be left alone from it once and for all.

Yes, Plummer got a fine, which I'll bet Moss's will be bigger. And would we all be acting this way if Buck hadn't droned on and on and on about the celebration? Even more damning, and showing how people are overreacting, Moss was caught several times, several, yelling MF'er to the crowd; why isn't anybody screaming about that?

Is Moss a good guy? No. Am I glad Casserley said he wouldn't want Moss on the Texans? Yes. Were the endzone antics worse then the old NBA throat slash, plummer firing the bird in Denver, the Pacers-Pistons incident, Reggie White's comments, Mad Max attacking a fan or Barkley throwing somebody through a window? No.

Just trying to put things in perspective.

I have a question.
Isn't there an Excessive Celebration rule? What is the threshold for this ruling to be deemed? Isn't it for this type of behavior? :hmmm:

If you mean the 15 yard penalty, a player can celebrate as long as he does it alone, and dosn't use props or something along those lines (TO didn't get any flags this year, if I recall. Nor did Faggins for jumping/standing in the stands on Battle Red day); if I recall. As for fines, thats all the league offices call.

I was shocked that a flag wasn't thrown for unsportsmanlike conduct. I am equally shocked at the reaction on this board. The coarsening of our culture continues unabated.

I would like to publicly say that in general, I think the moderators do a GREAT job on this board. I have been censured myself, so I say that having been on that end as well. While they aren't without fault, this board is run in an excellent manner. Sometimes our emotions get the best of all of us, and we say or write something that goes over the bounds of common decency, or is morally repungnant. If anyone remembers the chaos of the old board, they certainly would not be critical of this one. I think there probably should be a place for an adult, no-holds barred, say anything MB, but the Texans website is NOT the place for it. It's easy to be the hunter, but not so easy to be the prey. Let's try putting ourselves in other's shoes before we speak.

I thought what Moss did was funny. Classless? Sure! But I'm a fan of South Park, so I find a lot of classless things to be darn funny! :D

Moss is one of the best WR in the NFL, but definitely not the best (probably TO if I had to name one). But that is only talking about his natural talent. If you had to rate Moss on attitude, he would rank somewhere with the catfish - ON THE BOTTOM. Dude has the worst attitude and work ethic than anyone I've seen in football.

ps. I think the mods do a great job on this board, and I've been a member of many, many forums over the years, so I've seen it all. This is one of the best boards around. Great job, folks! :)

I believe the people most upset yesterday with Randy Moss, and his stupid attention getting tricks are Packer fans. Simply because they lost.
These talented, and very attention grabbing players will continue to irritate.
Give them their penalties/fines .. and keep on talking about it .. they love it!!
Fuel that fire. Your frustration only makes them want to keep it up.

I could be like DB and a little warped ..maybe I watch too much South Park too.
I enjoyed the Vikings win despite Moss' display.

He just needs to watch his back next year in Green Bay. PAYBACK!

I tought it was funny and doesn't deserve a fine or suspension.
I enjoy all the TD dances and dises!
Times have changed, get used to it! :BananaWav

So, I guess what the majority here is saying is to simply ignore rude, boorish, classless behavior? Sorry, but when I see something that is offensive, or worse, I'll comment on it, as will most. If this guy did this in most other public places, we would find himself in a fight at best, and arrested at worst. Why do we accept this kind of behavior? Just because others do outragous things doesn't excuse Moss. That is a very weak argument. Or, as Mama used to say - two wrongs don't make a right.

PS - I am not a Packer fan. I am a fan of common deceny, which seems to be in short supply.

One of the NFL head coaches--Dungy I think--said there is evidently a tradition in Green Bay of fans mooning the Vikings' player bus on the way out of the stadium. Doesn't make what Moss did right, but gives a little context.

I had to go check that out since I hadn't heard about it. Thanks ...

Does put things in a new light, doesn't it? ..funny
As old Paul Harvey would say .. "and the rest of the story" .....

Tice added he always thought of Green Bay fans as having "a tremendous amount of class" but that he didn't think they acted that way Sunday.

Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy said he saw Moss' action and, "I thought it was kind of humorous."

"It's not the kind of thing you want to see on national TV, but I understand what it was all about," he said.

"Anyone who has played in the NFC Central knows what that's about. The fans in Green Bay have a tradition in the parking lot after the game where they moon the visiting team's bus," he said. "It's kind of a unique send-off."

He PRETENDED to moon the fans. So since this offends you so, am I safe to assume you've never mooned anyone in your life, or even pretended to moon somebody. I've mooned several people (wondering if it's something I should be admitting), and I never got in a fight over it, never been arrested and never felt indecent afterwards.

My biggest problem is that people/the networks/this MB erupt over something this minor when there have been/are greater acts of rude, classless behaviour in the league. I mean the networks ran the snot out of Plummer flipping the bird, the MNF Desperate Housewives opening and the Pacers-Pistons brawl. And thats just covering the sports world. But the second a palyer pretends to do something generaly regarded as a harmless, child like prank the grow a new set of morals.

i think the way that he did was funny, it really didn't affend me just like when Plummer flipped the bird. He didn't moon anyone because the proper way to moon someone is for you to show your bare a**. :moon And then he did a little grind with the goalpost. If it was out of fun and he really didn't do anything abscene, then really there much ado about nothing.

So, Porky, my man, I guess you stay in a constant state of moral outrage? Especially with all the topless club billboards in this city!

Hey, you're not the one trying to get a petition to outlaw cheerleaders, are you? :hmmm:

And you're right about one thing, though: "two wrongs don't make a right". I guess your support of the president's little war keeps you up at night, 'eh? :heh: (j/k!)

It didnt take this act for me to believe Randy Moss was a tastless tool But in this case he really did nothing wrong , i mean come on . How many of you can say you have NEVER mooned anyone (He was only acting) . Not to mention the fact that crowd gave him just as much grief while he was on the sidelines as he gave back . It was funny even if it was tasteless.
As for Fox getting on a soapbox .....with their high morals maybe they should get UNDER IT

I never knew you could be arrested for performing a pantomime mooning. Fox over reacted to Moss's antics in my opinion. It wasn't a nice thing to do, but it doesn't merit as much controversy as it's received. I think the fact that it was Moss doing the celebration is what caused it to be such a big ordeal. Lots of people have lost respect for Moss and have grown disdain for him, so it comes as no surprise that they'll blow whatever little flair up he has into a larger issue that it really is. Just because he's on TV playing football doesn't mean he has to be a perfect gentleman. Maybe not all of you know alot of athletes aren't perfect gentleman, but quite the opposite. If you can't watch a player pretend to pull his pants down without getting your feathers ruffled, maybe you need to work on getting thicker skin.

I thought the act was funny. Like Dungy said, the Packer fans acually pull down their pants. Moss didnt show any skin. Moss hears and sees stuff from the Packer fans all the time. Fans arent over the game. They dont have a right to moon players. Moss didnt even moon them. Yeah, you can say that the players are getting millions of dollars but this doesnt give us, the fans, the right to disrepect them. Playing is their career path. He pretended to moon them. Key word pretended.

So in honor of Randy Moss, I will use him as my avatar until the Vikings get kicked out of the playoffs. :D
