what are your pro/con for drafting Bush or Williams?

Wolf

100% Texan
Bush

http://www.draftshowcase.com/ReggieBush.htm

Pro: play multiple postions and can score from anywhere on the field
Con: for the Texans and short yardage, not sure if he can pound it in and get the tough yards

Williams

Pro: we need a pass rusher and with a pass rush instantly inproves our secondary

Con: this one I maybe off my rocker because I haven't watched him play and have only read reports.. so most of his sacks came in 3 games?

devils advocate here..................

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

on my board i am known as the anti Mario guy...............i have publically said he has the highest bust potential out there....................think about these facts........................

Why was Manny Lawson picked as the teams defensive MVP??
not a media but done via a player vote
Why was Mario in 4th place among ACC coaches for defensive MVP?? (behind Sims and Bunkley of FSU and VT Tapp).

Why zero sacks in first seven games??
McCargo and Lawson projected to go top 40 were his DL mates)

Sure there are his excuses...............but those alone would give me pause.

Bush:

pros: playmaker, must be accounted for... opens things up for the rest of our guys on offense

cons: not a pressing need for us, but we shouldn't draft for need at the top of the draft

Mario:

pros: like Bush, a playmaker....run stopper, knack for getting to the QB... will make the rest of our defense better, especially the secondary beacause of his pressure

cons: inconsistency... will he play full-throttle every down?

He got 11 of his 14 or so sacks during the last half of the season, and Williams claims it was because he had a hard time handling cut blocks (according to the big guy himself).

From the little I have seen of him, he's capable of overpowering, yet to me it looks like he has enough quickness to finesse his way to the quarterback, but he never looked like he was that good at it. If a good Dline coach gets his hands on this guy then watch oot!

I honestly don't know much about Mario Williams however it is odd to me that this guy came out of nowhere to a potential #1 pick of the draft. From what I have read about him, I don't get that this guy is #1 overall material. I have to believe that the Texans are using this guy to throw Bush's agent off his number a bit.

Does anyone here think he is worth the #1 overall pick? If so, why?

Came out of nowhere? Mario Williams has been the top defensive prospect since he declared (arguable, but was always mentioned among top D prospects). Len Pasquarelli even said on 610 the other day that several teams have him rated #1 ahead of everyone else, and [FWIW] Casserly stated (sorry, no link) that they have Williams rated higher than they rated Peppers back in 2002. He didn't have much of a media buzz until after the combine, though.

Pros - Hmm...all are fairly obvious.

Cons - We still don't have a quarterback. Maybe that position's not very important. Baltimore won a championship with Trent Dilfer...but holy cow...Trent didn't make a ton of mistakes either, did he. He didn't beat his own team. If Kubiak has to spend time teaching "you know who" how to be a real NFL QB then he could just as easily spend that time teaching a QB who already has an unbelievable talent for that position. On to Black Saturday, I'm afraid. It's going to be a dark one.
