What about the RB from Louisville

El Tejano

Hall of Fame
I think he was #11. I don't know his name but I really liked his North South running style and I think he could be an excellent addition in our backfield. Would he be available in the later rounds of the draft and what are the possibilities of getting him?

Eric Shelton 6-3 240lbs. 4.5 forty. He is a big dude I just read his profile but isn't much of a threat out of the backfield. He split a lot of carries with two other guys so it's unknown weather or not he can carry the rock full time but with that size, I would think so! I think his stock will soar after the combine. He might go first day.

That is exactly who I was talking about. I really like his North South style of running. I really don't mind him not be a great pass catcher, although I have to think he has some kind of skills now coming from pass happy Louisville. He would only spell Davis and really be the kind of back that can help punish in the 4th quarter when we need those 3rd and 2 plays.

What round is he projected to drafted in?

From what I have seen he is graded out as 2nd or 3rd rounder.

If he is there in the 3rd, I really don't see a reason not to pick him. I don't think he becomes a Franchise Back but he definetly is a real good role playing running back. I just think he has great talent and feel that he can be the type of back we need to be added to the skills of Domanick Davis.

Shelton is a big back who could take some carries away for Davis. And after the big three RBs are taken, it gets kind of blurry. He could be the 4th Rb or the 9th depending on who is a free agent and which team fills there need with a Lamont Jordan or someone else. But use taking him depends on now the texans take care of their RB situation with Howlings and Wells.

I don't understand why we would take another RB........We have Davis and Hawlings, and Wells impressed me this year how he came on. I like Shelton, and I think we could be a surprise, he got limited exposure with all the passing Lousville really does. Shelton's stock is going to sky-rocket after the combine, and if we want him, its going to take a 2nd.

There are a number of large--240+ lb backs, some with sub 4.6 speed that will be available on the 2nd day this year. Don't be shocked at all if the Texans take one. Casserly likes getting backs on the 2nd day and Capers likes a big pound it back--he would love a combo of a physical back with semi-big play potential like Davis (note I didn't say home run threat--15+ yds is Capers definition of a big run play) and a big grinder that gets 3 yds virtually every time.

Because Hollings isn't any good and I don't care how much he hasn't played due to injury. When he has played he hasn't done much for us. Eric Shelton would be much better bang for the buck.

Moats from LA tech looks like barry sanders, have any of you seen him play. I saw one game and he is looks pretty good. FAST! and Quick! thats all you need.

I disagree because that's all that Tony Hollings has is speed and he has yet to turn the corner on a sweep or any kind of run to the outside successfully since he has been in the NFL. Ya need more than speed Hulk!

SMU felt that Moats was too small to play RB so they never offered him a scholarship. Nice decision. :bag:

There is still great value in the 4th.

Signed,

Domanick Davis

Good one! Yeah a lot guys get lost in the shuffle. You just have to give guys a shot and see what they can do. It's always a risk, there is always a chance someone might not work out no matter where they are drafted. I mean look at Ki_jana Carter and Rashaam Salaam. Such high hopes for these guys and where are they know. No where near the top like people thought would be.
