What about Ryan Kerrigan @ OLB in the Texans 3-4 ?

I got to see some of the one-on-ones yesterday from the Senior-Bowl on NFL.Com , and Kerrington has got some quicks. I've read about him as mainly a hand-on-the-ground 4-3 DE, but maybe he could fit in Wades defense as an edge-rusher ? He's got about the right size (6'3" & 255 lbs), kinda similar size to Connor Barwin.

not @11...he's going to be a better strongside DE than OLB, IMO. can't wait to see his agility drills at the combine.

I agree that 11 is too high for Kerrigan. But there are alot of teams 15-20 that could use his services.

If he is okay at 15 then why is 11 a reach? That's only four spots.

I have him rated at about 20. But if I was picking at 16, and my #20 guy filled a need then I would have no problem grabbing him.

Well, if you and I have him rated #20 (I have him #21) then 20 to 15 is not much of a reach. But 21 to 11 is.

You have to weigh the value of the pick versus how much you want the player. Trade back 3-5 spots for a 3rd round pick or get the guy you want? (If you have multiple players you love then you make the trade). If you have only 1 guy then you reach.

He seems like an instinctive player to me vs. the superior athlete types we have always picked. Personally i think its about time we get players with great instincts on the field (like Ahmad Black!). Kubiak's margin for error is nil and they need the players that will contribute fastest.

I agree with your thinking process here bah007: if it's a guy you really like, and you think he's a player who can step in and help you right away, why try to get cute and risk losing him ? Take him when you've got the chance.
On the other hand if there's nobody on the Board that you feel strongly about, OK trade back if you can for an extra pick.

If he is a guy you really like, then he is not rated #20 on your board.

agreed...he's somewhat of a project as an OLB, we can't afford a project @11...now if we traded back into late teens or early 20s, then maybe you take a look...at that point you would have extra picks to take more guys that can potentially help as well.
