After seeing the Texans trade all of those picks away to get back up in the first round last year I was sort-of concerned. But after seeing how it played out this year on the feild it looked likes a good move. We got a great CB in D-Rob and a solid OLB in Babin (whom is still improving). That made me think about doing that again this year in a draft that isn't as "deep" as last years. If we do that we could draft our #1 choice at 13 (hopefully) and see about moving back up to the late 20's and maybe draft an OT. What are your thoughts about doing this?

We still had 7 rookies make the team, even with trading all those picks. The reason we had so many rookies make the team was because it was a deep draft. We could afford to trade off a few picks to move up and have two number one selections. This year there is not the talent at the end of the draft as this one....so personally, I think it is a bad idea this year.
The Seahawks' situation with all their FA's. Do you think we can get Walter Jones from them. Maybe offer them our 2006 1st and 2005 2nd for him if they franchised him. Not sure,we should wait on Wand on getting better. Then ,trade our #13 down for pick #18 - #23 and extra 2nd round. What do you think? Is this feasible?

Difficult situation. Trading up into late 1st using a 2nd & 3rd & 4th could make sense if we found a really good FS or OT/G/C that we liked. If we chose to not take Rolle at 13, we could drop to late 1st, gain a second & 3rd and get Spear.
Still to early to dream this big, but what if Rogers doesn't creep into the top 20...trade back to get Rogers (CB) and trade up to get best available D-line.

Problem...O-linemen in FA/Trades haven't worked to this point (Wade, Randall, Weigert, Washington, McKinney). All are average, none are "getting it done". And nor has the draft (Weary, Pitts, Hill){jury still out on WAND}. But the fact remains, if David Carr was only sacked 12 times this year (like Manning) He would have taken us into the playoff. I mean...it's that simple. He was running for his life due to HORRIBLE pass protection. Do we sack the O-line coach? No...he's too new. Maybe after another off-season, they'll gel better. So the question begs, how do we fix the oline. I'd stay away from an LT cause I think WAND could be that guy. But our interior line is starting guys who should be back-ups. Maybe an awesome CENTER is what we need.

I agree. Our FS position is solid. Did anyone notice that the old prototype FS John Lynch was nowhere near a WR in the playoff game when Denver got lit up? We will see more and more large CB's instead of undersized linebackers at this position in the future with the rule changes. Coleman's style and body type will be something more teams gravitate to as a cover-FS (third cb on the field) instead of an intimidating hitter and enforcer type roaming around back there. I had my doubts about Coleman not being physical enough at first but I think that the Texans made a wise move in lieu of the rule changes. The Patriots did the same thing with a younger player in Eugene Wilson. He is pretty much their third CB on the field as a FS.AndreJ said:

I think what you are saying would be true for 31 teams, but not the Texans. Remember, the Texans had drafted extra 2nd, 3rd and later picks in the 2002-3 drafts as part of the expansion process. Although we had extra picks, we still had to fit into a 53 man roster. I look at it as "because we had recently drafted so much 2nd, 3rd etc talent (compared to other teams), it was easier for us to use some of our (extra) picks to trade up for a specific player.
