We're gonna get Bush!

Face it yall!

Bush is coming and there is nothing you VY fans can do to stop it!:superman:

So stop it you:homer: 's

You want a winning team don't you???:stirpot:

I have said it before and I will say it again. If Reggie Bush wore burnt orange for his college career, this wouldn't even be an argument. But you :homer: out there can't look past your college loyalties for what is best for the Texans RIGHT NOW!!! How does drafting a QB, who isn't even the top QB, with the first pick and letting him sit for 2-3 years help the Texans RIGHT NOW? And why fight for the QB, there is more credibility in fighting for a Ferguson/Hawk/Williams. A bench player WILL NOT HELP US!!! Can't wait for the 29th when this will all be over.:brickwall

So how many draft Vince Young post's are you going to start today?

I am for drafting a talent that will help the overall team immediatly. And since we are down to Bush and VY I support Bush. Truthfully, I would rather have Ferguson, but Bush is to good to pa:drool: ss up.

Please don't encourage this sort of thing. I think the endless deluge of new Bush Young threads need to be euthanized on the spot.

So Royce, taking a QB to sit the bench will make more of a differance than a RB that can move around the field?

Just more pro-young propaganda.:spy:

Your like a reverse-monarch without the writing flair, style, or intelligence

Who cares about flair, I make my point. No need to sugar coat it.

And just because I am on the other side I lack intelligence? Is taking the 2-3 best QB first overall smart?

No, your blindness of throwing everyone who supports vince young under the label of "homer" is why you lack intelligence. I beleive MOST of the people on the board recognize there are varying reasons for supporting one of these 2 prospects, and to dismiss a good 4 months worth of arguements by saying "you only want him because he went to UT", is stupid.

It's because you pro VY supporters as a whole totally want to downplay any Bush accomplishments, make his numbers not as spectacular, but can't give a good reason why the Texans, a team that wants to win immediatly, should focus on a QB that will ride pine for two years over a true offensive threat that will play this year. plus, just based on experts and draft value, it makes no sense to draft VY at #1, and yet the pro VY camp still fights.

Plus your name doesn't help your argument SWT. :homer:

If it's not about homerism, why aren't we flooded with "draft Jay Cutler" threads or "draft Matt Leinert" threads. The majority of NFL scouts have at least one of those guys rated ahead of VYoung, if not both. Is it just a coincidence that so many people here in Texas see it so differently than everyone else.

When are Leinart and Cutler coming in or are we going to visit them?

Um....Okay? How many times have we defended Vince Young? About 50 million. There are a multitude of threads giving good reasons to draft him. I would suggest using the "Search" feature of the message board. Knowledge is power friend.

My NAME doesnt help my arguement? Okay, by that Im assuming you mean swtbound07. A little history for you. I attended SOUTHWEST TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY for 2 years. Not University of Texas at Austin, Not University of Texas in san marcos. No affiliation with UT. To take it a step further. I hate UT. With the exception of a friend of mine who plays linebacker for them, i could care less about UT. I've stood drunkenly on the horsey statue screaming **** UT several times. I dont own any burnt orange clothing. So what exactly about my name hurts my arguement? If i was "BaylorDude99" would that make me a UT homer to?

Kaiser Toro said:

We probably won't. They don't have the fanbase that needs to be patronized. Only VY does.

So being around 30 miles away from a major D1 program in no way affects your affiliation?

Whatever.....

Actually, if you look at the profile, i currently live in CLEARWATER, FLORIDA. A little bit over 1000 miles away from the University of Texas at Austin.

The school is 30 miles away, you know, what your name is based off of. I could care less where you live.

That is a typical standard to apply if one is in their formative years.

the school that kicked me out? Honestly dude...because i live within a half hour of something it makes me support it? That is the most ridiculous arguement i've ever heard.

Kaiser Toro said:

Have not heard that we intend to visit with either. I'm not sure if Young visiting this week bears the faintest trace of the FO genuinely being interested, or if it is more of a posturing, pacify-the-fans and extend the hometown guy the professional courtesy of giving him an audience.

I suspect if VY puts on a killer workout here, the FO will give him serious consideration, despite that the VY bandwagon believes Carr and McNair sleep with each other every night and of course, that whole anti-Longhorn conspiracy that Kyle Shanahan signed up for.

I also believe that the pick is Reggie's to lose.

Will be interested to read through whatever vague press releases Kubes and Co. issue after this week's workouts.

If they kicked you outm then why support them in your name?

And it's not so crazy, I bet if you pole the campus on which Texas college they support it will be largely UT. In fact, SWT is considered a bunch of Longhorn wannabes. Just like Blinn and SFA are Aggie wannabes.

I gotta side with SWT on this one, ksig. I have been through UT, Baylor, and SWT many times throughout my college career, and I don't feel much one way or the other toward the place (except for Sixth Street - I highly recommend a visit if you have not been, or a repeat if you have: amazing scenery). The affiliation thing exists but IMO it is way overblown on this board, and the hometown guy was loud on this board for a little while but I think most of the steady remainder want Vince for a lot of reasons, most of which I do not agree with but hey that's why we're all here, isn't it?

You might have a case if swt went to UT, but you are reaching here.

Okay, if you look at my JOIN date, and when i got kicked out of SWT, (Spring 05) you will see that i was still in school when i joined here....2 years ago, pre vince, pre reggie...pre UT homerism. It is crazy. Also, if you take a poll of my roomate, you can make a compelling case that i spent more weekends in college station then i did in san marcos. Also, i hold no ill will against swt for kicking me out...a 1.86 GPA will do that to you. Bad decision making on my part. Anyway, i've never been to sixth street, never been to a UT football game, only been on their campus once (to see a girl), and basically have no ties to them whatsoever. Actually, i can think of SEVEN D-1 schools that i have more affiliation to right off the top of my head. You cant pin the burnt orange homer label on me so easy.

*edited to add.. The word you were looking for is "poll"*

I'm not trying to turn this into a witch hunt by any means. But for every one of you that has little to no affiliation in the VY argument, there are 5 more that are. that is why Texas is so screwed up on the draft ranking for players than anywhere else. Fact is, bush is and has been the #1 player on the board, and I bet he is #1 on more than 50% of the teams. VY probably isn't #1 on any boards. He ranks at 2-3 best QB by all draft services. He just doesn't make sense for the Texans who need help now in whatever picks they take.

First of all, you haven't proven anybody to be a homer. You tried it with me, and Im sure you can now admit that you have nothing. I wonder what the results would be if you tried it on somebody else. To me, it is a witch hunt, because you are grasping at any straw you can find to shove a group of diverse, intelligent, rational people into your thought box. All you have to do is acknowledge that WHILE YOU MIGHT NOT AGREE, there are in fact valid reasons to want to draft Vince Young besides the college he attended. Thats all Im after here...a little acceptance and understanding. Im not trying to convert you to our side, just trying to get you to see that there is another side, and its not blind burnt orange.

I went to Texas State (AKA SWT) and lived in Austin for 3 years while attending school in San Marcos. I ushered many UT games, have an abundance of UT gear, and am a huge UT fan. But guess what??

I still want Bush! VY should have stayed another year in school to refine his game, but he wanted to strike while the iron was hot. I can't blame him, however if it was my money, I would bet on Bush. It's easy to gamble when it's not your millions leaving your wallet.

Actually, for the most part, and VY support over a Reggie Bush is blind burnt orange support or hometown kid support. Call it what you will. We are the only site/state that thinks VY should be taken ahead of Bush. And why is that? And we are no more intelligent than any other site, but less informed than draft services, all of which has Bush as the top BPA.

if you're not a :homer: ,then why do you make blatantly biased posts against reggie bush...without sound reasoning-why should we take VY over RB when VY will have to sit for a good while before contributing anything

im in favour of taking reggie because i think we should see how carr does in the new system, bush can help DD with carries(minimising injuries), line up at wr, even return punts-basically he will come in and help immediately....which i dont think can be said for VY-yes he has talent and potential but he needs time to adjust(and there are no garuntees he will-like every other qb)- i think with reggie there is less of a doubt, you know he can make people miss and make big plays, or he will make the defence always be focused on him-or else

I have debated this ad nauseum...first of all, in the denver running system i dont think Reggie is an upgrade. i believe Vince is a huge upgrade over David Carr. Nobody on this board is calling David Carr a great QB. He's not. Best we can hope for is that he might develop into a good Qb sometime down the road. He has had 4 years, and im tired. Im tired of the boneheaded mistakes. Coaching doesnt make him run backwards out of bounds. Coaching doesnt make him lock onto recievers. There is a LOT of doubt about reggie bush. NFL defenses wont have to key on him like college defenses did. They are faster, better prepared, and better tacklers. Reggie is not a need. PERIOD. Reggie is a shiny want that impresses people. We have a running back...a running back i seem to remember some of you calling for to be in the pro bowl a year or so ago. Wanting the better player doesnt make me a homer.

Is the lesser part the fact that he won the National Championship?

And you have a QB in the draft that has played in a national championship bowl game EVERY YEAR he has been a starter, but we want to focus on a kid that has a lot of unanswered questions about his ability than focus on a proven winner.

That is if we really need a QB.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME MATT OR JAY THREW FOR 200+ YARDS AND RUSHED FOR 200+ YARDS IN A GAME, LET ALONE SEVERAL GAMES LIKE VY.

I REALLY DON'T REALLY CARE IF WE GET RB, VY, D'BRICK, OR MARIO WILLIAMS, JUST AS LONG AS WHO EVER WE GET CAN HELP US WIN FOR A LONG TIME.

ALSO YOU CAN'T COMPARE CUTLER, LEINART, AND YOUNG TO EACH OTHER BECAUSE THEY HAVE DIFFERENT GAME TYPES. I THINK THE TEXANS ARE DAMNED EITHER WAY. BUT THE SAD THING IS THAT WHOEVER GETS DRAFTED THERE ARE GOING TO BE A LOT OF PEOPLE UPSET, AND EVEN WORSE A LOT MORE PEOPLE SAYING "I TOLD YOU SO" LIKE THEY HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT.:texflag:

Please turn off the caps lock--it is hard to read and considered internet shouting.

Of course you can compare Cutler, Leinart and Young--every team thinking about a QB is doing exactly that right now. People don't have to be the same player or even type of player to consider which will be best for a team/system.

you say vince young is better....and leave it at that..how will he be better- he doesnt have a great arm and only decent accuracy, doesnt read defences very well- i dont see how you think he will be an upgrade on carr- he may down the line but for the near future, he wont. if a carson palmer-like prospect was coming out- strong arm, good accuracy, excellent reader etc. i may have a different opinion but i dont see a qb like that in this draft- ie 1 that will become elite in a short period

DD is a good back but he gets injured, reggie has alot of talent and will help- he could be a great back and there is alot more risk in taking a qb with alot less immediate results

Mayock changed his mind after Texas and USC pro day. What I heard was today on ESPN radio on the Herd. He said Leinart doesn't have a strong arm or throw a very good spiral. He still thinks he will be good but that someone will take VY ahead of him.

if Bush is such a lock why haven't the Texans began contract negotiations  having the 1st pick entitles the club having that pick to begin contract talks before the draft :stirpot:

Who says they haven't had preliminary talks?

And he is scheduled to come to Houston, I am sure the primary negotiation will happen then.:redtowel:

Primary contract negotiations are scheduled to begin on Thursday when he comes to visit Houston. He is not doing any drills and is just meeting with McNair and the coaching staff. There are rumors that he will be looking for houses too.
