This is an example of BPA. Noel does not have a clear path to playing time on offense year 1. But thinking long term he slots into Kirk’s role after his one year rental is complete. And if the unit gets hit with injuries (like they did last two seasons) he’s a true weapon for CJ to rely on.

Not to mention his return value on ST. Good players get on the field. They’ll find a way to get Noel the ball this season if he earns it. And I suspect he will…
 
From Dane Brugler’s writeup. Two year team captain. And primary returner all 4 years of college, even when he was the starting WRs. This is a high football character guy:

Served as Iowa State’s primary punt returner all four seasons, averaging 8.8 yards per return (53 attempts for 466 yards)


Also averaged 21.1 yards per kick return (39 attempts for 821 yards)


Durable; missed only one game (because of food poisoning) in four-year career


Two-year team captain (head coach Matt Campbell: “From Year One to Year Four, he has been one of the most complete football players in the program over that time. Elite competitive excellence.”)

The way our three headed WR monster was injured last season... You never know.

Slacker!!! Could have used that food poisoning for the benefit of the team... nobody would have wanted to touch him.....so what I'm reading is a "me" kinda guy... isn't willing to poo himself for the team....

This guy is gonna be a locker room problem for sure....:kitten:

AMES, Iowa —
Iowa State football offensive coordinator Nate Scheelhaase is headed to the NFL, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Sean McVay and the LA Rams have hired Scheelhaase as their passing game specialist, Schefter posted Monday afternoon on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"The 33-year-old Scheelhaase, who played QB at Illinois, generated interest from NFL teams in recent years, and he now makes the move to the NFL to work under Sean McVay," Schefter wrote.

Scheelhaase arrived at Iowa State in 2018 and coached running backs and receivers before being promoted to offensive coordinator in December 2022. He replaced Tom Manning, who was fired after the Cyclones finished at the bottom of the Big 12 in scoring and total offense during a 4-8 season.

In Scheelhaase's only season as offensive coordinator, the Cyclones averaged 26.2 points per game — up from 20.2 in 2022 — and went 7-6 overall in 2023, 6-3 in the Big 12 Conference.
