Welcome to Houston Cam Robinson

1. Ronnie Stanley - 3 year 60M
2. Cam Robinson - 1 year 12M (escalators up to 14.5M)
3. Tyron Smith - 1 year 20M

Okay, someone try and spot the deal... đź’¸
I'm not aware of Smith having received a new contract. As far as I know, the $6 mil 1 year contract by the Jets was for the 2024 season.,

Smith underwent a cervical fusion in 2020 and essentially lost the entire 2020 season. He re-in jure his neck in week 10 of last season and was IR the remainder of the season. No one is going to pay him $20 mil this season..............especially since no one can guarantee that he comes back from this recent injury.

The Texans got (depending on the list) OT 2-5 in free agency. There really was not much better available. Says probably more about the market than the goodness of the player. In short, there wasn't much in the way of other options.
As long as they aren’t overpaying it’ll all work out. That & they haven’t committed to anyone over a long period so they aren’t screwing the cap up either.

No one, not even Cam Robinson thinks he’s our LT of the future.

Never let facts get in the way of a good story. :p

J/K You're correct I was looking at the wrong year when I searched it, the old Jets deal had escalators to 20M.

I certainly don't want to reach, but I think there are plenty of OT/OGs to fill that pick at 25. The Texans getting some 1 year vets doesn't really solve the O-line problem long term. Now if it went WR/OT/OG I could live with that, but it's not my preference. I think primarily run-blocking TEs can be gotten later in the draft.
There's also a good chance a really good player falls to them at 25.

I'd sooner take that really good player than take the next Tytus Howard. I'd generally go quantity for o-line in this draft because to be blunt going quality would be difficult.

Yep, the draft show did their mock last Thursday. Broaddus/Nick Harris/Zack Wolchuk Cowboys insiders etc... They had Caserio picking Golden. Egbuka Loveland/Nolen/Jackson/Hampton/Starks/Jihad Campbell etc... were on the board at the start of rd 2. I would move up for one of these guys.

You usually want a big Mauler at RT for the run game. Robinson has not been a mauler in the run game at LT. In fact, he has been below average. Any tackle will tell you the whole mechanics of getting out of your stance, footwork, eye and hand coordination, and muscle memory is entirely different.
That's why it made no sense to me to move Howard from rt to LG. If it were rg , it would be seamless.
