Remember when having two good wide receivers was a thing to brag about?I feel having our top 3 WRs on the field, more times than not, someone will always be able to eat. If we lose one, we still have playmakers, but it becomes a bit more challenging. IMO, a key advantage Nico has that the others don’t is his rapport with CJ. When a play breaks down, Nico always seems to be in the right place at the right time, positioning himself to help his QB, even when things aren’t going according to plan on a given play.
Stroud @ qb and LJ8 as tail back with his qb abilities? Whooee! He is not an elite tailback either. He’s very very very good at -both- which makes him an elite player, IMO.
I don’t want him as my QB when we have Stroud but I sure would love to have him on my team. I think he can excel at anything. He’d find his way into the starting lineup somewhere.
After Action ReportAgain what does AAR stand for?
After Action Report
I wasn't the one that started the thread. Take it up with the OPWhy not just call it “post game reactions” or “post game comments” or “post game report” orsomething similar.
Where did After Action Report come from?
Seems random.
Not that it’s a complaint and you need to change it. It’s just a slow day.
But I have eaten lunch so I am in a good mood. @Lucky lol.
I started AAR threads this season because they are my takes immediately after watching the game. Why not just call it “post game reactions” or “post game comments” or “post game report” orsomething similar.

Thank you for asking that. I was going to. We’re moving backwards in communication as a society with over using acronyms. Takes more time for folks to either ask what it means or read through to figure out what it means.Again what does AAR stand for?
Good stuffI started AAR threads this season because they are my takes immediately after watching the game.
Which this week I just did so here goes:
What went well:
1) Pass rush. You don’t see the sacks in the box score but this defense did not give Allen a clean pocket the entire game. Best pass rush performance since week 2 against Chicago. Allen had no time to throw all game which contributed to his historically bad 9-30 stat line.
2) Passing game. CJ was able to drive up and down the field all game long. They make the 4th down and they likely score a td which gives them 30. Which would be in line with the 400+ yards of offense produced. Now there were two turnovers but the INT was just a terrific play by Bernard.
3) Azeez. That’s why they paid him. Apparently when he’s sick he plays his best! He was flying all over the field. Excellent game from the defensive captain.
4) Special teams. Woods had key returns that should send Sims packing. Townsend had the clutch punt end of game. Kaimi is the league’s top kicker this season. All is well in Frank Ross land again.
What did not go well:
1) Run game. There were spurts of run game here and there (Akers TD run). But man this unit needs to get going. I am frustrated with the OL play. Every other unit plays with the relentless aggression SWARM mentality that DeMeco has talked about bringing to this team except the OL. I just don’t see that same aggression in the unit and i’m not sure if it’s the players, the coaches or both. But it is frustrating.
2) Penalties. A clean first half puts this team up 17-3 against Buffalo. 7 penalties for 67 yards helps tie things up 20-20 until the game winning FG. If this team played a clean football game they could make things so much easier on themselves!
3) Nico injury. Hate to lose Nico. Before the game I said that the Bills did not have the horses to contain him with their injuries. And he was proving me right until that hammy pulled on him.
Townsend did have the big punt that pinned the Bills back on the GL and gave the Texans a chance to win the game.I don’t buy the ST being great again….exception Fairbairn. Townsend is not good, nowhere near Cam Johnston.
Yes Woods had a nice return there at the end that put us in position to win. He also fair caught a punt at the 2. The 2! Who the hell does that? Sims was no better, and fumbled one or twice. What happened to standing at the 10 and if you have to take more than 2 steps back…you let it go over your head?
Figuring in Fairbairn, I’ll give the ST this year a B-. It would be considerably worse with an average or below kicker.

I'm only speculating but perhaps the Texans only offered a 2 year contract to Johnston, while the Steelers offered a 3 year deal. The contract values for Johnston (32yrs old) and Townsend (28yrs old) are nearly the same, with the difference being the duration. Prior to this season, Townsend had been a top punter with the Chiefs. Unfortunately for both Johnston and the Steelers, Johnston is sidelined for the year due to injury.I don’t buy the ST being great again….exception Fairbairn. On the punt returns, it is puzzling how deep the returners are trying the field punts vs letting it go. Too much can go wrong while attempting to catch it that close to your own goal line.
Here:Townsend did come up big when the team needed him the most.
With Woods out, who's going to be the PR?
Pierce probably will be the KR guy.
I'd prefer King since he'd also provide CB depth
