Week 2: 2024/2025 Season

Not seeing a lot of enthusiasm from the Fins.
I was pissed at DeMeco's handling of the clock to end the half... AND WE HAD THE LEAD AND WE'RE GETTING THE BALL BACK!

If I was a Dolphins' fan right now, I'd be livid at McDaniels.. He went stupid aggressive and went for it on 4th down midfield when he should've punted, allowing the Bills to score within seconds.. Then tucks his tail and goes stupid conservative and wastes over 3 1/2 minutes with 3 timeouts losing by 17 points with the Bills receiving the ball to start the second half.

I know those people forget more about football than I will ever know, but I do know that was stupid as hell and made zero sense.

Jesus Christ.. and this was why Miami was reluctant to give him that contract..

The new QB deals are going to be team killers if you don't have a elite QB.. luckily for us, I think we do. If you don't, you'll be stuck in NFL purgatory.

Here's massive hypothetical that popped into my noggin. If McDaniel is fired after the season, and Slowik takes a job as a head coach, would you hire McDaniel as Texans OC? Or promote Jerrod Johnson to OC and make Keenum QB coach? It would be a difficult decision.

I'd hire him as OC if he'd take it and hope that JJ would stick around

Not everybody has a franchise QB that's capable of winning a championship although there are many that are paid that way. See; Tua/Dak/Derrick etc....

It's the worst position to be in, what should happen is what the Texans did with Derrick, but for PR reasons teams are forced to keep their QB's even though they know they cant win a SB with said QB's. The McNair's are so lucky that Derrick's a perv because it allowed the org to move on.

I understand there are dumb people everywhere, especially in owner's boxes.... but do you think the dolphins would fire McD before getting him another QB?

McDaniels looks like he's about to cry.. sounds like he's lost his QB and LT..

Could you imagine being a Dolphins fan right now? Superbowl aspirations, week one comeback, to season over in a couple of hours. The NFL can be a real fickle *****.

Much will depend on how this season plays out. I didn't see the Dolphins as a playoff team this season with Tua. Without him, they could win 5 or 6 games. I could see the Dolphins owner throw out the baby with the bath water. And as exciting as McDaniel's teams are on offense, I see a lack of grittiness that's needed to win in the playoffs. Like I said, massive hypothetical.

I think they've been grooming Johnson and had a handshake deal with him when they promoted him.. I think he already has the job and they will promote from within. DeMeco's going to build his own tree.

The NFL needs to straight up cancel Thursday night games.. rarely is it even a close entertaining game. It's always a blowout game of nutrition.. Human bodies can't recover in 4 days.

I know the feeling last Friday I had the same feeling

If the Fins are dumb enough to fire Mcdaniels, he will get a head coaching job the next day if not the same day.

This season would be treated as a mulligan. Like when Kyle Shanahan lost Jimmy Garoppolo 3 games into the season.

I do think it was a mistake letting a proven DC like Fangio walk this offseason who had a unit that could offset Mcdaniels’ track team offense. Also giving Tua that extension with his concussion history. Though I think that was a team decision overall.

But he is a good enough coach to be patient with and give him a chance to fix mistakes. Coaches develop over time as well.

Maybe. I think there is some concern about his overall stewardship of the team. Mike Martz was more successful than McDaniel, but never got a bite as an NFL head coach after he was dumped by the Rams. But Frank Reich got a job right away, so who knows?

That makes the most sense. It's the conservative approach. I just don't know what kind of relationship Ryans had with McDaniel in SF. Also, McDaniel was a young assistant with the Texans in Ryans first 3 years as a player.

Not really a hypothetical for me. McDaniel would be -hired- immediately if he became available.

And besides… I’m not hiring Jerrod as our offensive coordinator. While he was and is essential to Stroud’s growth… he still is just his lackey at this point. He’s an unproven in the NFL. Keenan would get the OC nod over Johnson, IMO.

The Texans would need to promote Johnson or risk him leaving and taking the same job with the team that hires Slowick.

Caserio and Ryans would be better served keeping their core staff together much like a team would with their core players. Johnson promoted to OC is a strong move for the offense. Bringing in player and fan favorite Case Keenum as QB coach would be a solid addition to the coaching staff. Two moves like this would keep the team consistent while wishing Slowick the best in his departure. What the team would need to do is take care of its staff to avoid Slowick taking a few coaches with him.

Made an all encompassing other NFL teams game day thread so we don’t have to post a new one each individual week.

2 games I got where I live are browns/jags
And bucs/lions

I like being able to look at each weeks games separately
