Week 17 around the NFL

Looked like Decker reported to me!
Looked like it to me. The ref even made the motion that someone reported
I think it was Brad Allen’s officiating crew that called the game tonight.

What games have they called in the past?
- Texans vs Jets
- Green Bay vs Chiefs (missed PI call)
Goff said Decker, the starting left tackle, reported to officials and Dan Skipper, a backup offensive tackle, did not. Skipper said he didn't report to an official. Two players can't report to be eligible receivers on the same play.

"I don't want to talk about it," said Campbell, who was visibly angry with referee Brad Allen after the successful 2-point play was negated.

In a pool report, Allen said Skipper reported to him as eligible, but then lined up in a tackle spot that didn't require him to report. Allen said Decker didn't report, and that his conversation with Decker was about Skipper reporting.

Skipper was HOT after the play

With $27 million of bonuses left to allocate? I think LaFleur is on a hotter seat than Alexander. And one reason the GM went along with this is that if the Packers miss the playoffs (for the 2nd year in a row) it will be easier to fire the coach.

Lions got hosed
I think the referee and the Lions screwed up on the 2-pt conversion that drew the flags.
- The Lions maintain that Decker (68) reported as eligible and not Skipper (70). That being said, then Skipper should have came in and went straight to the huddle and not towards the ref. If he's coming in to play tackle then he has no reason to go to or talk to the ref, especially since the Lions are saying that Skipper did not report as eligible.
- On the referee, the video looks like Decker is engaging him but the ref is focused on Skipper coming in and probably assumes that Skipper is coming in as eligible (as he had done earlier in the game) while hearing Decker saying something about eligible. The ref probably thinks Decker is just reaffirming he knows that a lineman is coming in as eligible.

Campbell was a bit too aggressive
Should have kicked the FG before the half.
People say things like that all the time. But you never really know.

One thing I love about NFL is the situational aspect of the game. One thing leads to another. Butterfly effect kinda thing.

Had they scored that field goal they might not have scored another point. We'll never know.

Get rid of the tackle eligible nonsense and lessen the pressure on the refs. Parcells and Belicheck didn't invent the rule, but they sure did abuse it. Even though it's mainly used in goal line running plays, it confuses refs who are looking at more important things. Take this crap out, rules committee.

Hard to say. As I watched the game the guy who goes over the rules said there were 3 penalties that could have been called all concerning the OL whi caught the ball. He said the other OL reported, not the one who caught the ball. Then the way the WR lined up on the line made him intelligible, & I forgot the other.

Regardless, they had three opportunities. That should counter any bad calls on that play.

That was some really lazy reporting from that site. First, they didn't understand that up to two post June 1st cuts can be used prior to June 1st, that there still would be a huge cap hit the following season in 2025, and that no team in their right mind would just release Alexander. The $8 million roster bonus isn't a big deal when Alexander only has a $6.65 million salary in 2024. Aside from game and workout bonuses, Alexander is owed $49 million over the last 3 years of his deal. Not a team in the league that wouldn't take that on.

The 2nd opportunity came at the 7 yard-line and the 3rd came at the 4. Percentages go down quite a bit then from the 2 (which is about 50/50). Lions should have kicked the extra point once the penalty happened.

The ref was incompetent.

Because the ref is incompetent let's change the rules. SMH but not really surprised coming from you.

This play is probably run 100 times per season and this guy screws up. How about having the line judge and the ref go to the HC so that even an incompetent ref has backup to get things correct.

This league changes multiple rules on a yearly basis. That's the norm. Let's make some changes that makes sense for once.

Getting competent refs makes more sense to me. This guy is the only guy to screw this up all yr and you want to change the rules. This ain't brain surgery.
