This has been a rough season for SF. First the training camp holdouts for Aiyuk and Williams that kept them from entering the season in game shape.
CMC’s injuries that led to essentially a lost season for him.
Now a player refused to enter the game because they weren’t happy they were demoted to backup.
Tough year for Lil Shanny but i’m sure he’ll bounce back next season. There is a lesson here regarding the training camp holdouts though… how many of these players holding out for a better deal play to the level of that new contract when they spend all offseason away from the team NOT getting better?
I think we’ll see teams more likely to trade players sooner rather than play the waiting game going forward. Just not worth rewarding that behavior when you don’t get the same caliber of player back because they aren’t in game shape and now more likely to get injured.
