Could I ask why you prefer Mario over Bush? Mario dissapeared in half of NC State's games this year, and wasn't even voted the best defensive player on his team. I think his bust factor is much higher than RB's. I could understand the argument for Vince (if we hadn't extended Carr) but I just don't get the infatuation with Mario. His measurables are great, but if you've seen him play he'll be dominant at times and totally dissapear at other times. If you compare bodies of work in their college career there's no way you can tell me Mario looked like more of a sure thing than Bush.

I have to agree with what you say about Mario...I knew who the guy was all season (after seeing his off the chart ratings in NCAA '06) but I was never 'wowed' until they pulled out all the tape measures and stopwatches.

In comparison, Julius Peppers at UNC got my attention on the field and there's no way I could have seen more than two full UNC games. But between that and seeing him run the court for the hoops team, I knew that guy was gonna be a monster. Mario looks like one, but that's about all I can say...

Dude - trading down is a GREAT option if you can get a deal worth it. But NO ONE is offering anything close to market value. You don't trade down just to trade down, you trade down to get more in value than what you give up.

D'Brick and a 3rd rounder is not worth Reggie Bush.

Reggie is the right choice. Whether we win a Super Bowl or not will not depend on this pick - it depends on all the other picks in 2006-2008. If we screw those up, nothing will get us to the SB.

First remember that Casserly has stated many times that he called people to trade with and received no buyers and it wasn't the only call he has made with those teams. The first round class is pretty deep and everyone seems to want to stay where they are at or not trade with us. Again I feel the Brees deal with N.O. messed all that up.

Second, remember that both Williams and Bush can agree to deals right now and at that point it is going to be decision time so you may still get your wish. Hearing how much Casserly feels about that guy, I am not so sure if I get mad if they pick him over Bush. Just know we are going to get a real good player on our team that is going to turn things around for our franchise.

In this draft we have to be realistic. The "market value" of the pick is NOT 3000 points on some idealized Draft Value Chart, it's what we can get for the pick. All I really want out of the pick is three picks in teh first two rounds, with the uppermost pick not lower than 10-15 (obviously, the higher the better).

I think that's the best way to improve our team dramatically and really give us a realistic chance to get to 8 and 8 next year, or maybe, in a dare-to-dream world, even a winning season.

There's apparently more negative stuff coming on the Bush & family house & so on fiasco, but I don't know what effect that will (or should) have on our draft. I do think there are probably trades out there to be had, but we're going to have to take 75 cents on the dollar to get them. I don't see how likely that is. A lot of people point out that Mario is great on the measurables, but less great on the field. This worries. I'd go to Oakland and start talking. There's apparently some QB confusion and it is now rumored that the Titans actually want ML, and that Oakland wants ML and that the Jets have some interest. All this together with a reasonable and pliable negotiation could land the Texans a trade out of #1 (though I admit it seems a little late; I don't know how fast these people can move when they are really motivated).
