we really have a new punter?

i read in the bull pen that we have already signed a new punter because marciano doesnt think stanley is going to be back...hes the guy that was punting for jerome mathis when we were scouting him...now that the punter situation is hopefully settled do we look for a kicker in this draft, because brown is horrible!

I think Brown saved his job at the end of the year, he was solid those last few games. I'm fine if we keep him and don't add anyone.

While I dont think KB is necessarily terrible, I do think that we need to bring in another kicker or two in camp to give him some competition.

Brown??? I thought he was talking about Stanley... I say bring in as many punters as you can get and let 'em have at it Stanley was terrible.

We have brought in a new punter to at least compete with Stanley. This thread would appear to be whether we chase a new kicker to replace Brown too.

My gut says we don't waste a draft pick on one but bring some FA types to compete with KB.

I grew very tired of seeing Kris Brown choke on kicks over the last few years, but he performed pretty solidly at the end of the year and there just aren't a whole lot of good kickers available unless you overpay for Mike Vanderjagt who hasn't kicked well outside of a dome in I don't know how long. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they bring in a kicker to compete with Brown and see who wins the spot, although at this point we need all the training camp roster spots we can afford for competition at all the other positions. It shouldn't be hard to find a better punter than Chad Stanley, I know two people that haven't played football since high school that can seriously kick a ball farther than I've ever seen Stanley. With the way Stanley's kicked the last couple years I wouldn't be surprised if they have two completely new punters duking it out in camp and Stanley is sitting at home on his couch.

Brown and Marciano worked on some mechanic issues that Brown was having, and his game improved in the second half of the season. As long as he can maintain, no problem. We still need to have a kicker or two in camp just to make sure we have a good one.

I beieve you can can have as many people as you want on the TC roster, you just have to make the cut deadlines.

You can only have 90-something people (95 IIRC), which is obviously a lot more than during the regular season or even preseason, but it's not unlimited.
