We need to start playing hardball in FA & trades.

We're getting screwed sitting here with our hands over our eyes and are going to end up with only 3/4 first day picks if don't pick it up soon.

We must be aggressive to trade down, at least to 4-7, maybe as far as 10-12. Whatever it takes. We NEED the extra 1st day picks and we don't need a zillion dollar RB.

So forget Reggie Bush. He's falling in the draft anyway. THe people who want of need QBs are going to pick off Leinart and Cutler as soon as thing start, so we have to be players in the Leinart/Cutler stakes. And we have to be flexible in making trades with people interested in trading up. We can't hope to rob tham--all that talk about a Ditka offer has chased away draft partners, and the presumption that we're only really interested in Bush has made us irrelevent.

So now we gotta say we're ready to trade and be ready to take Leinart at #1 and let the chips fall where they may--there's no other way to become the go-to team for other clubs wanting to trade up.

If we get "stuck" with Leinart I say worse things could happen. We dump Ragone and wait a year or two, with Leinart behind Carr (for as long as Carr can hold him off) and then trade one or the other.

If, as seems more likely, this new public statement of intent finally draws an offer that produces a reasonably high #1 pick (for me that's one in the top dozen) plus two or even three extra 1st day picks, or two picks and a player, well, I'd say that was well worth the price. We lose Bush, Leinart, Young, but we suddenly have 6 or 7 first day picks for a team that badly needs 'em.

BOOOOO, first of all we arent going to draft Leinart, and second of all we arent going to dump Ragone, we took him in what, the 3rd round when we drafted him. so hes staying, and why wouldnt we take bush, if we dont want him we can do what san diego did with eli, just trade him, (probably wont happen) so if worst comes to worst, we are going to take mario williams,Dbrick, or Vernon Davis, so to be honest "does that sound like the worst, No not really"

We don't need a DE anymore........ we don't need a LT anymore...... we don't need another QB option..... chances are, we won't be looking for a TE, or a Center in the very near future either. For political reasons, our LBs are going to be our LBs at least for next year. We won't be taking a Corner early, Safety is probably the only real need we'll be addressing on defense......... #2 WR, RB, and depth for the OL position...... I don't think we need as many picks, as we thought 1 month ago.

At least I don't think Kubes sees it that way. Trust me, it pains me to say this. But:

Thunder I have to disagree with you. TE will likely fall once we lock down Putzier and Center is a 3rd or 4th round choice depending on who is available. We are quite interested in Chris Chester. We will likely take a Corner early and a safety. We can very well go WR in the 3rd but looks more like it will be an early second day pick best that falls type scenario. Cass is very good on the second day so I trust him to get some really good players. I do agree with the rest and Reggie will likely be our number 1 pick unless someone can convince the Texans that Mario Williams is the best option.

That's what I said, except you added the Corner, which I would like, but I would think second day. & I don't know if I believe the good WRs available on day 2 stuff.... it'd be nice, but.....

Still, my point is we don't need as many picks as we once thought....Kubes & CC are taking care of business...... even though it isn't falling like we thought.

I'm also thinking we'll get Flanagan...... who'll be backed up by Hogdon.. no need to beat that horse anymore.

Noone is going to part with their twoes and threes to trade with us. Didn't you see the combine...the draft is loaded with tallent. We take bush and prey this staff can teach these guys to pass protect better. Or, Bush spreads the feild so much that he jump starts the offense. Might work out. Bothers me no one is knocking at our door for him if he's that good. We'll see.

I'm not sure how Bush's stock is falling at all, but following your idea the best thing to do would be to shop the #1 pick for now, and if we have to we draft Reggie Bush and try to trade the rights to him. If we can't trade him, then we end up with Reggie Bush, a great RB prospect and a dynamite offensive playmaker rather than being stuck with another QB and having one $8 million a year player or the other sitting the bench all season. It sounds like a nice idea to trade down a couple times and stockpile picks, but it would be extremely hard to orchestrate multiple trade downs, we would likely have to be close to the first deal within the next week or two so we have a couple weeks to work on the second one, and we'd fall out of the position to draft Reggie Bush or Mario Williams which are the two best overall players in this draft, they are the best playmaker on either side of the ball, and the only two guys the Texans are really considering and the only two players that are worth the #1 pick to this team.

Charley Casserly is that you? Or is this Bob McNair? How about Dan Reeves?

How do you know who has or hasn't contacted us about the pick? Do you expect Casserly to have a weekly press release that outlines who has offered us picks and which picks they were?

The other thing is that there is a major difference between having the chance to draft Reggie Bush and trading up to get him. I'll try to give you an example.

(Assuming you could afford it) Let's say you had the chance to get a brand new 2007 Ferrari F360 for the normal price. It is your favorite car and you have been wanting one for a while. Now there is another guy who is willing to sell the exact same car for the exact same price but you also have to give him your brand new computer, your 42" lcd hdtv, the next car that you are planning on buying, plus the PS3 when it comes out. Would you still take that? Of course not.

all in all knolle your right but it is too early to shop the pick have to wait until at least april 3rd to recieve proper value... that is when ut and usc prodays will have completed then we can recieve proper and adequate value for the #1 pick just think if bush runs faster than mathis will anyone want him them since he can run routes or line up in the back field.... lineart answers every critic and has enough velocity on the ball to be compared to kenny stabler and carson palmer... just a different prospective we are doing fine need to bring in one wide receiver so it isn't pressing need

I am huge in the trade down area (look at My Avatar). I just don't see it happening. Hopefully on April 2nd at the USC Pro Day, Lienart or Bush blow people away. If not, who know. We still have a month and a half to wait wait and see.

I can only hope this is true, but I doubt they can trade down anywhere and reasonably hope for him to fall that far, I think they have to decide between Mario and Bush at #1 and take their choice there. Kubiak and his top coaches need to figure out who is the best fit for their team, and then sell the idea to Casserly and make sure he's going to go along with it, then sell the idea to anyone else that is important and needs convincing.
