The LB would have never gotten to him (before the ball) had Watson bothered even looking to his left and made a quick throw. He never looked anywhere but to his right once the ball was snapped. The LB would have probably taken Njoku down immediately once he caught the ball. But that would have gotten the ball to at least the LOS instead of a loss of 5 yds.,,,,,,,,,,,,,leaving the Browns with their backs against their own GL.Seriously doubt Njoku was the hot read. That LB would have got to him before the ball.
The hot should have been the slot receiver but the way the LB bee lines to Njoku he's in the path.
That LT standing there with no one to block looks suspicious though. Maybe he could have done something different that would have changed the outcome....

It hasn't happened yet, but it's time that the media stops tip toing around the real culprit in all of this and goes full bore after Haslam. He should be tar and feathered and run out of town for what he's done to this franchise since he purchased it!

Virtually all of the options presented are pipe dreams.................and the little fact regarding dead money in the equation seems to have totally been ignored.Very interesting article. Different quotes from anonymous executives
Let's remember that Watson has taken over setting his own protections. That rusher was not, or at least should not have been unaccounted for.
The OL needs to slide right or left. Everyone else slid right except the LT. Had the LT looked to his right he would have picked up the blitzing DB, there would have been no need for a "hot read"
Heck it looks like the LT was firing out like he thought it was a run play.
Doesn't change the fact the LG slides left & the LT slides right. Do you think Watson tells each lineman who to block or does he call out the MIKE which tells the OL to block left or block right?Let's remember that Watson has taken over setting his own protections.
Yep. I just want to know if the league really wants this situation to just “go away”. They know that’s not possible.Virtually all of the options presented are pipe dreams.................and the little fact regarding dead money in the equation seems to have totally been ignored.
You can strip down the Browns and start over again like an expansion team...................but Haslam is still going to be calling all of the shots...........as he always has...........and always will................always driving the Browns all the way to the ground.
We've seen this not happen with our own Texans............and we are more functional than the Browns.Doesn't change the fact the LG slides left & the LT slides right. Do you think Watson tells each lineman who to block or does he call out the MIKE which tells the OL to block left or block right?
They are going to need people to come out against Haslam like they did against Snyder. You can strip down the Browns and start over again like an expansion team...................but Haslam is still going to be calling all of the shots...........as he always has...........and always will................always driving the Browns all the way to the ground.
A must-read!ESPN front page NFL

It's time for the Browns to bench Deshaun Watson: All the ways the QB has struggled
Deshaun Watson is off to one of the worst starts in NFL history, and the 1-5 Browns' offense has been abysmal. Here's how Watson has hurt his team.www.espn.com
Watson does a poor job recognizing defenses, let alone calling out the correct defender.Doesn't change the fact the LG slides left & the LT slides right. Do you think Watson tells each lineman who to block or does he call out the MIKE which tells the OL to block left or block right?

Do we blame the QB when we see this happen with our own Texans? We've seen this not happen with our own Texans............and we are more functional than the Browns.
At least Kevin S. has at least has financial security of fresh extensionI can't imagine why he won't. Do you think he'd get black-balled as a HC?
Surely he knows he's going back to the OC role before he gets another shot at HC.
There’s deeper ties into why he won’t dump Watson beyond just the salary. This would be a big financial call for Haslam, but the Watson investment has gone sour. He’ll better understand this when fans start showing up at games with paper bags over their heads. From the owners box, this is when you’re watching your entire investment take a hit.
Start the sale off before the trade deadline and make Watson finish the season behind a makeshift team. Seasons end, give Watson his walking papers b/c try as the team may…..there will be no buyers for Watson’s services.
Haslam needs to think about his Browns as a whole and start the rebuild immediately. Eat the dead money hits for 2-3 seasons, but start infusing this team with cheap young talent. Stock pile picks while strategically spreading them out over a 2-3 year time frame.
As for Watson….if he has any real desire to get back on the field, he needs to go to the CFL and learn how to QB once again…..that’s if he has the time on his clock to do so.
What you describe might have stopped the sack. But it does not change the fact that before he took the sack, he should have recognized Njoku as a hot read which would have precluded the 4 yd loss, even if Njoku had dropped the pass. When you turn your body to the right and don't have your head on a swivel, everything to the left to the center becomes the blind side.Doesn't change the fact the LG slides left & the LT slides right. Do you think Watson tells each lineman who to block or does he call out the MIKE which tells the OL to block left or block right?
I believe @CloakNNNdagger when he says Kevin is being blackmailed. There is something criminal going on here.
Mhmmm. Stefanski saying today that “Watson gives them the best chance to win” SHOULD sound the alarms on Haslam. It appears with recent tweets, those in the media in Cleveland are doing some digging.Stefanski and the whole Browns organization has a growing problem...........and it's growing faster than ever....................

The Browns and Watson are 0-26 on third down..
Watson doesn’t care
Jimmy Haslam is a mobster. Stefanski either coaches for him or not at all. Haslam would get a lot of heat if he fires him though, but he won’t allow him to leave its looking like.Question: if a HC is not happy with the situation, and if said HC could indeed easily find another job, why would this HC stick around in the crap situation?
Kevin is being threatened. To win what? The 1st pick of the 2025 Draft?

Sounds like a Rusty Hardin quoteHaslem is a bonafide gentleman
KarmaHe just needs 4 more to match the allegations.
What conspiracy?I love conspiracy theorists. They're so much fun to laugh at.
I don't think Watson has taken to coaching since he left H-Town & i really couldn't care less. He's done. What you describe might have stopped the sack. I don't think they get paid if they quit.Question: if a HC is not happy with the situation, and if said HC could indeed easily find another job, why would this HC stick around in the crap situation?

Well you said Jimmy Haslam is a gentleman so that makes anything you have to say on the subject irrelevant. But if it's as bad for him as some love to make it out to be, he'd resign. It could be bad, but it's not THAT bad.
