Truth. An all to often apt commentary for this franchise
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WatsDe00.htmNot to mention coaching and offensive system being ran. Watson has a career completion % of 66.8% and Wilson has a career completion % of 64.5 with a completion % of 63.4 after 3 seasons. Wilson was 794 for 1,252 with 72 TDs and 26 INTs after 3 seasons. Watson was 804 for 1204 with 71 TDs and 29 INTs after 3 seasons. You can have your own opinion but not your own facts. Facts can be pesky to a personal narrative. If you care to bring up sacks, Wilson had 119 through 3 seasons and Watson has 125. IMO, playcalling and coaching separate these two QBs much more than pure talent and abilities. The stats and facts bear that out.
Wilson
Watson
And I think it would be totally irresponsible to not explore all options to make team better.
Why do you guys want the QB position unsettled again? This just blows my my mind. We finally, finally, finally, finally get the QB that’s good enough to take us there, so why even entertain trade talk?
i understand what’s going on here. Some of you draftnicks are just so incredibly butt hurt that we don’t have 1st and 2nd round draft picks anymore, that you’re willing come up with some perverted circle logic to justify getting rid of THE player that can take us there.
O’Brien has really infected some some of you.
That is a complex question. In short, no, I do not think that Watson will lead us to an AFC Championship, but not because of his talent. There are way too many factors. The state of our entire franchise is in shambles right now. Not only BOB, but the front office, coaching staff, defense, etc. all need to be rebuilt, and by the time that happens, Watson will be an afterthought. None of this falls on Watson though. He is just in the wrong place, wrong time right now.Simple question....do you see Watson leading the Texans to the AFCCG much less the SB with OB and his staff at the helm?
If your answer was no, then someone has to go. I believe Cal is under the impression he can't do this without OB.

What? Where did I say I would trade him away? I definitely do NOT want to trade him away. My point was that I do not think any QB would be successful under our current circumstances. So trading him away, and making the position again a question mark accomplishes what exactly?
Some of you need to take a deep breath. Seriously, because I’m wondering if you’re even realizing how desparste you sound.

I just think it’s a shame such a talented player like Watson is stuck playing under this regime.Sorry if I misread you. Op-Tex sure sounds like he does, and the title of this thread sure sounds like others are entertaining it, if that‘s the right word to use.

It's the off season and a message board. It's not like Cal is reading these posts and thinking maybe we're on to something. So trading him away, and making the position again a question mark accomplishes what exactly?

Mahomes an MVP followed by trip to a superbowl. Watson not In same conversation anymore
Hes close.Still has 2 win 1 for me.
Below is the drive chart for the Texans. Highlighted yellow are the drives after the last FG.

And Houston won the TOP by dang near 10 minutes. But the longest KC TD drive was 3:55 so it's a bit misleading. Just a bad, bad, display of football. Coaching and playing.

DW4 needs to make a career decisionBetter coaching
Better coached team
Much better all around team.
That’s why Pat looks better than Deshaun and several other young quarterbacks.
I would much more blame on who coaches Watson's side of the ball than Watson himself. Mahomes has a coach who actually understands how to attack an defense, Watson doesn't.Mahomes an MVP followed by trip to a super bowl. Watson not In same conversation anymore
This is true. Watson needs to make a business decision. It ain't happening under OBI would much more blame on who coaches Watson's side of the ball than Watson himself. Mahomes has a coach who actually understands how to attack an defense, Watson doesn't.
OB should have been fired by now. His offense doesn't belong in the NFL after watching these 4 teams that were left.
The 49 defense is that good though. So I give the Packers a pass. Plus Aaron is getting up there in age too.Take the Packers off of this list too. They look horrendous out there tonight. The 49ers are giving them a grade A ash whipping. Total domination
Embarrassing to say the least
He will have his choice when he hits FA.This is true. Watson needs to make a business decision. It ain't happening under OB
Watson=Andre Luck. He will quit soon.Though we lost, I’m still kind of happy. watching Watson vs top tier qbs is the same entertainment value as watching the super bowl. He looked like a top 3 Qb prime cam mix with Rodgers. It’s a reason why we’ve been prime time since we drafted him. The gm knew that at the time. Watson’s going toe to toe with the best. He’s been clutch but the defense keeps letting him down (Pats, hawks, eagles, saints). Which leads me to ask after week 1 after watching every qb highlights, where would you rank Watson at his position.
Then someone has to go? Trading him away helps the situation? How? What does that accomplish?
It's also sad but true.Yeah , trading him away does actually help the situation …. It means no more 9-7 / 10-6 for OB.
He'll go 0fer16 with this craptastic squad he's put together …. and that likely gets him fired …. finally.
Its a step backwards …. to finally go forward.
(This is suppose to be humorous , not serious)
Not me. I would like to see what BOB could do in the NFL with a different organization.I would like to see what Watson could do in the NFL with a different organization.
because it allows building team with 3-5 starters and allows OBrien to bring in QB that he wants and believes fits his system. Another benefit is if he convinces CAL he could get to SB with "his guy" and then doesn't it hurts him. Too many of us keepThen someone has to go? Trading him away helps the situation? How? What does that accomplish?
Interesting, please provide link OBrien said he is intending to keep Watson.Stop and think for a minute. Assuming you’re correct that BOB isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Let’s just assume, for the sake of argument it’s a fact. Well, BOB just announced yesterday that he fully intends on keeping Watson here for the rest of his career, and pay him accordingly.
So since the idea, or even the thought, of trading Watson is never going to happen, I’m interested in what other options you might have. I’m all ears.
So trade away the only positive thing the franchise has going for it in order to keep OBrien? That right?
![]()
That's true but it's not his fault. The only one Bill Obrien has helped since he arrived in Houston is himself.Still has 2 win 1 for me.

Don’t worry, the crazy talk will die down soon.So trade away the only positive thing the franchise has going for it in order to keep OBrien? That right?

Um OK.....
He already has the QB that he wants. What is it exactly that gives the idea that he doesn’t?

I think you miss the point here …. Its not about OB having the QB he wants , its about us having the coach we want. One that can take us to a Super Bowl - OB isn't that guy.
Would you give up Watson to finally rid the city of OB ? Or do you prefer the status quo …. 9-7 / 10-6 and maybe a WC game win and then throw a party when they lose in the divisional round ?!?
Did you see Mahomes yesterday? DW4'S not catching up with that, regardless of who the HC is.
So what are you trying to say? That he’s not good enough?
Spit it out. I want you and anyone else here on record as saying that Deshaun Watson is not good enough for this team.
And leave O’Brien out of it.
I've been on record and I'm trying to keep my DW4 thoughts in the DW4 multiple threads. I'm more than willing to talk about this but would like to take this to the DW4 is a top 5 QB thread. Top 5 LMAO
But to answer your question, he ain't good enough and is nowhere in the same class as Mahomes is as a QB. Mahomes is a rare gifted player.
