Greetings!

A while back I got to thinking about how I don't really know any Texans fans. Then I got drunk and forgot all about that. But a day or two ago I remembered, so I followed the F2FA link from PatriotsPlanet and ended up here. Sorry for your bad luck.

Now some of you are probably wondering what in the heck a Colts fan is doing on a Patriots site, while others are probably wondering just how in the heck those guys knew I was a Colts fan in the first place. To answer your questions: 1) I'm not right in the head; and, 2) I'm not sure, but maybe they ran across my first post on the board where I stated I was a Colts fan.

I've had a bit of a soft spot for the Texans since they joined the league. Granted, I don't follow you guys as much as other teams which is one of the reasons I wanted to come here. I probably won't have too big of a presence, I imagine I'll do a lot more lurking than posting, but you never know.

Oh, by the way, I think that this is a funny smile thingy: :voodoo:

Texan fans are all over the place, you just have to know how to spot 'em.

EDIT: Welcome to the board.

Lol. Thanks.

I did meet a family from the Houston area this summer up in Indy. Talking to the dad about football, he said that he had been an Oilers fan but hasn't been much for the NFL since. He said they keep tabs on the Texans and have been to a few games, but don't really consider themselves fans. When I asked him if he had thought about switching to the Cowboys after the Oilers left, he replied with an emphatic "Oh Hell no!" Lol.

So what is the fanbase like in the Houston area? Has the city pretty well embraced the team or is it still kind of a lukewarm reception?

I'll leave that question for a current Houstonian. I've been here in Austin and don't hear a lot of Houston sportstalk. I will say this. If you are a Texan fan you hate the Titans and anyone who says they like both is just plain loopy. I know the Texans rule Houston, but a current Houstonian could answer that far better than I.

BTW, I will always cherish and despise my memories of the Oilers, they are NO MORE.

It was incredible here with the Texans first few years(especially the first game). This is Texas and we love our football soo there is a lot of support nut since we havnt had a winning seasin yet a lot of people are frustrated with the team. Even though the last two years seems like more and more people are joining back, but we still have sold out every game and rank I think number five in franchise value, soo were prett soild.

This is the way I see it at least.

I figured this would be the case, but I don't hear much in sports news about any Texans fans hate for the Titans. At least, not like our playoff game with the Ravens was built up a couple of years ago.

Is there a lot of resentment towards the Titans and Bud Adams or has the hate moved on now that y'all have the Texans?

I can tell you the best move I ever saw the Titans make was taking Adams' fat ass with them. He defaced the Astrodome by taking out the scoreboard for more seats. All of HOUSTON'S records are owned by him. In other words, those confused hillbillies in Titanland claim those records set for another city as their own. Why? Dunno. He has rights to the name "Oilers" as well as the color Comumbia Blue, although a new team needed a new name IMO.

I'm happy being a fan of the Texans because Houston is my hometown and I always pull for "my" Houston teams. The Oilers were dead to me before they became the Tacks. I wouldn't like it if the Texans came to town from another city and claimed records that were set for "another team."

I love my team, but damn a winning season and some playoff football is overdue!

Welcome to our funny pages! Stick around the try the dip. It's fresh! :cowboy1:

The answer to your question, though, is quite obvious if you look here.

You want a Texan, You got one, And let me tell you the fat bastard could not leave town soon enough, He could have left the Oilers name and history but that dumb POS took that with his blow up doll. I met that dumb sorry heart ripping out team murdering fake of a man once, He was standing in the Texas Sports Hall of Fame stinking it up and I walked over to him and said
"Bud, I would like to thank you", He replied with "whatever for son", and I said "For getting the Houston Texans into the city of Houston", then i threw his hand out of mine and turned around so he could see my ass as I walked away.

As far as the Texans Fans I will say we are top Ten in the NFL with Tailgating, and Our tailgators are True Die Hard Texan Fans. We consume every lot the stadium has and then every Bar in houston. We love our team, Question our coach, although we love him too, and live for Sunday, Monday, and Thursdays. Thanks for asking.

Welcome to Texas :texan:this is my Fave

That is amazing!

You tell 'em Joe! When you coming back to Austin for a game?

However I digress.

There will always be a hate for Bud in Texas period. I also live in Austin now, but my memories form living in Houston during the Oilers days are sad to say the least. He was such a greedy jerk, we could not even tailgate at the Dome because he wanted all food and drinks to go through his concession stands. I say to hell with Bud Adams and may be have a long and suffering life.

Wow. Bud Adams sounds a tad on the douchey side.

By the way, congrats y'all! I caught the tail-end of your game today. What did the announcers say? First 4-game win streak in franchise history? That's got to feel pretty good. And getting it against the Titans doesn't hurt either.

:splits:

Beyond the usual level of rivalry that goes along with being divisional foes:

Houston fans despise the Tacks because Bud Adams stabbed Oilers fans in the back by moving them to become the Titans.

Austin fans of the Texans despise the Tacks because of the VY lovefest going on in Austin that results in the local TV affiliate making us watch Titans games instead of Texans games in many cases -- even when VY is benched!

As someone in the Austin market, I can only hope the Texans continue to play good, entertaining football so the local CBS affiliate will opt to show the Texans instead of the Tacks -- especially when Saint Vincent is benched.

I wonder why the national media doesn't play-up the Texans-Titans hate like they do when we go into Baltimore to play. I figured it was because Houston fans weren't that sore about it, but reading the responses here...I'm at a loss.

Keep in mind also that a Ravens-Colts game is more of an "event" because they aren't in the same division.

The Texans and the Tacks play twice a year, every year, so playing up the same kind of hype would get old, methinks.

Still, they over-hype every single AFC West matchup out here and every single NFC East matchup everywhere else... As you put it... It's getting pretty old methinks.

True. Does the local media bring up the Oilers angle when the Titans come to town?
