Most people know Wade can win. It's still up for debate whether he can win it all or not. I think the one thing about that record that stands out is that he's worn his welcome out quickly in both places that he was the undisputed HC.

Forget about the clean up duty he did in New Orleans for Bum and throw out the three games he coached in Atlanta where he did the same thing for Dan Reeves. It's Buffalo and Denver that interest me and really give me my only reservation about Wade Phillips as HC. I'd like to know why he was kicked to the curb after just two years in Denver and I'd like to know why he only got three years in Buffalo. If those can be explained then cool, I'm still very interested in Wade Phillips. Off the top of my head I bet he got the quick sack in Denver because he was more or less just like Dan Reeves. If I had to guess I'd say Elway didn't like his idea of an offense anymore than he liked the way Reeves ran things. I don't know that though.

Buffalo I'd be inclined to chalk up to "that organization makes some weird moves" but I'd like to know more.

Denver

It was Elam who kicked the winner in overtime in 1994, Wade Phillips' last year as coach. Anthony Miller finished with 156 receiving yards and one touchdown for the Broncos.

The Chiefs' Steve Bono threw for 323 yards, including a 62-yard touchdown to Willie Davis.

The Broncos had lost John Elway because of a left knee injury in the second half, and Hugh Millen finished behind center, completing 5 of 13 passes for 37 yards.

Millen played in two of the Broncos' final three games after the victory at Arrowhead Stadium, but Denver lost all three and Phillips was fired, Shanahan hired, the rest being history.

Buffalo

Following the 2001 season, the entire Buffalo staff, led by coach Wade Phillips...owner griped about having to pay contracts of fired coaches

Seems like he got fired for how things went

In Buffalo, owner wanted Wade to fire one of his coaches and he would not do it so owner axed him---have posted the link before, will see if I can find it again........

I seem to remember that after Shanahan was fired as Denver's offensive coordinator in a power struggle with Reeves, Elway lobbied hard to get him back from the time Phillips was hired. He never really had a chance.

those 3 years in Buffalo.. Pendry was his Offensive Coordinator.. and the Bills led the league in rushing attempts.

Putting 2 & 2 together from an earlier post, it wasn't an Offensive Coordinator that he refused to fire was it?
