Von Miller

He was expected to come out last year and be a first round pick. From what I've heard he is more suited for a 3-4 defense.

He was smoking the the OU tackles this weekend. The boy has speed and power.
I don't think he fits in the Texans scheme right now, but he's going to be banking next year (assuming there isn't a lockout)

He's 6-3 240 but I think he's more suited to being a 3-4 OLB than a 4-3. Extremely quick, his first step is one of the best in college football. Plays with so much heart and effort also, will give you 110% every snap.

His stats are down from last year sackwise because all he did then was just rush the passer almost exclusively, while this year he's playing alot more pass coverage and doing a very good job at it. He's so athletic he's been able to cover a lot of the TEs and slot receivers he's been asked to when the time has come.

Here's some game highlights from entire game, Von was everywhere this game, even though he cramped up three or four times.

Bottom line about Von, I am so proud he is a captain of our football team. He is the emotional heart of the defense and really does bring back memories of the Wreckin' Crew of old with the way he plays.

His pass rush is explosive and from what I've seen from way up on Second or Third deck he is very good at putting moves on offensive linemen. Maybe we could draft him just to get him to teach that to our Defensive Ends.

We still need a pass rush specialist. I don't care if he's a prototypical 3-4 linebacker size or a 4-3 end. We need the pass rush. We've got Mario, Antonio and hopefully Barwin comes back. It would be nice to have an all around 4-3 DE that's great at run and pass defense... but at this point I just want a pass rusher. Dwight Freeney, Clay Matthews, Elvis Dumervil, etc are undersized 4-3 DE's but I would take either on this team (names used as examples). If Kubiak/Smith think Von Miller is going to be an excellent pass rusher in the big leagues, I'd be all for drafting him. We've got the guys in place for 1st and 2nd down already... we need that pass rusher.

Pass Rusher and a game changing safety. Those are the two things I want out of this draft. We need playmakers, guys that will create turnovers.

Dont care if the Texans are running a 4/3 or a 3/4.

This is the kind of guy I want on the Texans defense.

If Miller is there in the bottom of the 1st rd and the Texans have already picked. They should trade up and pick this guy. He's a difference maker. (I compare Miller to Clay Matthews)

Not that the Texans need any of those on their outstanding defense. LOL

It's sad thinking about this draft and still having the following at the top of my wish list:

1 - Pass Rusher
2 - Playmaking Safety
3 - Defensive Tackle
4 - Possibly even a Linebacker!
5 - Cornerback

I'd be happy if we used all our picks on the Defensive side of the ball.

This video has a good showing of his plays from last year's game against Texas. Half the time he's running himself right past the pocket and getting no pressure. Looks more like Mario Williams only as a 3-4 DE instead of a 4-3.

I'm not really sold on this guy though. 16.5 sacks is a lot in one season (2009), but in college, many more plays are run on average, and at least 3 games a year are against lesser teams. Not to mention the Big 12 last year was all about the passing game, which gives him a lot more opportunities to make sacks. It looks good on paper, but I doubt this guy really transitions to the pros and becomes a pro-bowler. Also, his ability to cover TEs is lacking from what I have seen this year.

does seem to be a one trick pony, edge speed rusher? oh wait, we don't have one of those :hmmm: maybe he slides down to Texans 2nd. rd pick?

Nope gone way before then. Perhaps a late first?

I don't know about that. There are more complete players that go before him.

Maybe a 34 team takes a shot at him with a late first but I expect him to go early/mid 2nd.
